HIGHLIGHTS

Enjoy food, music, artists, storytellers, dancers, drummers and more. But whatever you do, don’t forget to visit the bounty of beautiful wooden boats moored at the 190-metre (600-foot) dock.

Take a voyage of discovery throughout the festival site, as new experiences and unannounced surprises await you in every zone. Look out for mermaids, fishermen, shipheads, wharf rats, pirates and many more characters.

On Friday night (7:00–9:00) enjoy this national historic site with live music, drumming and light refreshments. Come back on Saturday and Sunday (11:00–6:00) for full-scale festival fun for all ages.

Zone 1 Octopus’s Garden Make your grand entrance to the site with music, face painting and more.

elebrate Steveston’s waterfront heritage at the spectacular Britannia Heritage Shipyard.

Zone 2 Under the Deep Blue Sea Park your bike, meet our community partners and collect free stuff. Zone 3 All Hands on Deck Create your own work of art under the guidance of some of the region’s finest artists, then add it to the fence in Zone 5. Meet our cantankerous character, Crabby the Crab. Zone 4 Ships Ahoy Board the tall ship Kaisei and learn about her important environmental research into the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch.” Visit many other wonderful wooden vessels and maritime-themed exhibits too. Zone 6 Murakami Boatworks Join local artists to create a Wish Boat, part of a large art installation, in tribute to this building’s past. Zone 7 Murakami House Step inside for storytelling every hour on the hour.

Zone 8 Crow’s Nest Believe your ears…there’s music in that tree! Zone 9 Port of Call Festival central! Stay awhile, grab a tasty bite to eat, place your picnic blanket on the ground and enjoy the ambient music. Meet artists and artisans, learn circus arts and more. Zone 11 Britannia Shipyard Explore the many workshops that once served the fishing fleet of the Anglo British Columbia Packing Company. Stop to view the partially restored “rumrunner.” M.V. Fleetwood, once the fastest boat on the West Coast. Zone 12 Sail Away What’s happening down there in the pond? On the hour performances of sweethearts afloat. Zone 13 Toe the Line Keep your eyes peeled ... there might be pirates! Zone 14 Chinese Bunkhouse Create a shadow puppet and then take it to Zone 16’s nautical playground. You can also solve puzzles and learn how early 20th century cannery workers lived. Zone 17 Ship Shape Marvel at miniature boats by the Steveston Maritime Modellers.

Head south along No. 2 Road, turn right onto Moncton Street, left onto Trites Road and right onto Westwater Drive. Note: Parking (by donation) is limited. Or, park in Steveston Village and stroll the scenic waterfront boardwalk from Moncton and No.1 Road.

Bring it along

From Canada Line Brighouse Station, the #402 will take you to Moncton Street at Railway Avenue, a short walk from the site. The #401, 407 and 410 also go to Steveston. Make a day of it and visit the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Steveston Museum and other attractions. For more information, visit www.tourismrichmond.com. On foot or bike: If you are coming from Steveston Village, from No. 1 Road and Moncton, consider a stroll east along the beautiful riverside boardwalk. It will take you directly to the festival site. Bicycle parking at both Westwater Drive entrances.

NOTE: While most of Britannia Heritage Shipyards is accessible, there are some heritage buildings with doors that may be too narrow for some wider wheelchairs. For safety reasons, wheelchairs, strollers, dogs and large backpacks are not permitted on the steep ramps or floating docks. Disabled parking is available at north east entrance.
