THE ORGANIZATION: Black Men Build (BMB) is a grassroots membership organization whose mission is to give Black men and their families the tools necessary to become a powerful, organized political force for liberation. We recruit, develop, and organize Black men with a commitment to love, grace, accountability, and power, bringing them into movements for racial, gender, and social justice through healing, power-building campaigns, and political education.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Co-Lead Field Organizer builds and sustains a strong base of Black men through outreach, organizing, and program implementation. This part-time role centers basebuilding, membership development, and coordination of core programs aligned with BMB’s mission. The role leads organizing efforts, supports political education and community programming, and ensures consistent engagement, leadership development, and growth. The ideal candidate demonstrates embodied leadership, strong relationship-building, and a commitment to developing their organizing practice.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Basebuilding & Membership ● ● ● ●
Recruit, engage, and retain members through canvassing, phone banking, one-on-ones, and digital outreach. Facilitate the growth and sustainability of Circles and foundational programming. Build relationships that deepen engagement and leadership development. Coordinate with committees (Membership & Culture, Political Education, Safety, Security & Wellness).
Program Management ● ● ●
Implement and oversee local programming, including but not limited to Men’s Circles, Wartime Roundtables, and Safety, Security & Wellness programs. Ensure alignment with organizational values, mission, and strategy. Track participation and evaluate program effectiveness.
