THE ORGANIZATION: Black Men Build is a grassroots membership organization whose mission is to give Black Men and their families all the tools necessary to become a powerful organized political force for liberation. We recruit, develop, and organize Black Men in ways that no other organization is doing with a commitment to love, grace, accountability, and power. We are bringing Black men into the movement for racial, gender, and social justice through healing, power-building campaigns, and political education. NATURE OF POSITION: Black Men Build is seeking a highly motivated and strategic-minded individual to fill the role of lead organizer for our Atlanta hub location. The BMB lead organizer in Atlanta is a local position that will operate out of our Campbellton Road hub and report directly to the field leadership team. The Lead Organizer at Black Men Build plays a pivotal role in coordinating and leading community engagement initiatives, electoral efforts, and social justice actions at the local level. This position is responsible for maintaining a physical community location, overseeing men’s circles, organizing community programming, and ensuring the alignment of activities with BMB's mission and objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Community engagement. You’ll coordinate men’s circles, which are core to our work—they’re spaces for healing, dialogue, accountability, and connection. You’ll make sure these circles are consistent, well-facilitated, and welcoming. Beyond that, you’ll organize and lead community service initiatives that directly address local needs—things like food distribution, neighborhood cleanups, or mutual aid efforts. These programs help us build trust and show up in tangible ways for the people around us. ● Membership Development. You’ll recruit and engage local community members in BMB’s work, help them plug into meaningful activities, and nurture their growth as leaders. Supporting the sustainability of men’s circles and service projects is key here—they’re the foundation for deeper political and personal transformation ● Program Implementation. You’ll oversee everything from day-to-day logistics to long-term planning—making sure each program is carried out effectively and stays in alignment with our mission. That includes working closely with the national leadership team to ensure that our local political education efforts are strong, relevant, and well-integrated.
