A new year is always a time for looking at things afresh.
But as we are looking ahead into 2026, this Newsletter edition would like to start by celebrating the little and big things that we have achieved in 2025.
One of the highlights, was the introduction of Values by HR Values express our company’s mission and vision and what we are about. We finished the year with the Values Quiz, that tested magicians’ knowledge of the company values in a friendly competition. I am certain that in 2026 there will be more opportunities to play and win prizes
We have seen excellent work and efficiencies from the operations teams throughout the divisions. We would like encourage magicians to continue setting the bar on safety, growing the business and ensuring sustainability. It is noteworthy to mention our relatively new businesses in LPSG, BLACKMAGiC TECH, as well as BLACKMAGiC Properties
We would like to thank magicians for also giving back to their communities by participating in Mandela Day, Cancer Walkathon, BLACKMAGiC CSI, and Stem Cell projects Mother Teressa said “Spread love everywhere you go Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier " Let us continue to do great work

As we open the first edition of 2026, we pause to reflect on the year that strengthened our foundation and sharpened our direction. 2025 was not just about numbers, milestones, or movement it was about people showing up, teams pushing forward, and a Group that continued to evolve with purpose.
Across the BLACKMAGiC Group, our Business Units closed the year with resilience, discipline, and quiet excellence — building momentum that now carries us confidently into the year ahead.
2026 NEW CALENDAR
Every year begins with a fresh foundation, and for us, that foundation is our calendar The BLACKMAGiC Group calendar serves as a central guide for all key activities and events taking place across the Group and our Business Units throughout the year.
Our Executive team, HR, and Marketing are working collaboratively to deliver a consolidated and inclusive 2026 BLACKMAGiC Group calendar that aligns priorities, strengthens coordination, and supports meaningful engagement across the business As we move closer to finalisation, we invite the team to anticipate what lies ahead with excitement. This calendar will do more than schedule events It will set the pace, rhythm, and focus for the year ahead
A NEW PROCUREMENT OFFICE ?
So what is procurement and how is this department going to help us? Procurement is the action of obtaining or procuring something
We’re excited to announce the launch of the BMG Procurement Office, which will strengthening transparency, efficiency, and accountability across the Group
The office oversees fair sourcing, cost control, supplier management, and policy compliance to ensure value-driven procurement
Action required:
Effective immediately, all procurement requests must be submitted using the Procurement Requisition form, with a Goods Receipt Note completed once goods or services are received

Safety remained more than a value it remained a daily commitment In 2025, the AI Camera Campaign sparked meaningful conversations around accountability, behaviour, and smarter driving.
These efforts were reflected in outstanding safety milestones, including over 1,000 LTI-free days, reminding us that progress is strongest when people return home safely
Theses sessions served as an important refresher on key safety principles, including workplace safety awareness, safety signage, first aid procedures, and emergency readiness
Starting the year with this induction reinforces a simple but powerful message: safety is not optional, and it is everyone’s responsibility. These reminders help ensure that all employees begin the year informed, alert, and aligned with the standards that protect our people, our operations, and our clients

2025 was defined by consistency under pressure From record-breaking wagon loading in the Northern Cape to high-performing port operations in Port Elizabeth, BML teams delivered results where it mattered most on the ground, on time, and without compromise
The year also marked a visual and strategic shift through the BML rebrand, paired with strengthened leadership across branches a clear signal of where the business is headed.

This momentum was reinforced through trusted partnerships with Vodacom and Siemens Mobility, translating innovation into real-world impact through battery supply, installation, and infrastructure support
These units will form part of the advanced power system engineered by SIEMENS Mobility for Transnet South Africa, supporting the nationwide refurbishment and renewal of the rail signalling network This modernisation programme is critical to improving the reliability, safety, and efficiency of South Africa’s rail infrastructure
BLACKMAGIC TECH DELIVERS FIRST HORIEN SODIUM-NICKEL BESS UNITS TO SIEMENS MOBILITY
BLACKMAGiC TECH achieved a key milestone with the successful delivery of the first 14 HORIEN 110UP80 (110V, 80Ah) Sodium-Nickel Battery Energy Storage Systems to SIEMENS Mobility at the Lubocon Main Base Camp in Alton, Richards Bay

For ZEN Freight, 2025 was a year of steady growth and strong operational focus The move into the new Daimler Road offices marked more than a change of address It reflected progress, organisational maturity, and readiness for the next phase of the business
ZEN Freight also successfully navigated the demanding silly season with no incidents recorded, a clear testament to the team’s discipline, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to safety
Looking ahead to 2026, ZEN Freight continues to dream big One of its long-term aspirations includes acquiring land to develop what is envisioned as The ZEN Village, a space that reflects growth, sustainability, and long-term impact Goals matter because they define a destination that is greater than where we currently stand
As part of its growth strategy, ZEN Freight also plans to expand its market reach by transporting additional commodities, further strengthening its position within the logistics sector

It is no secret that ZEN Freight is one of the Group’s most ambitious Business Units In a significant milestone, the Northern Cape branch has officially moved into its new offices, marking an exciting step forward in the region
The newly developed offices are located in the heart of Kuruman, at 07 Corner Lantana Street, and we are proud to announce that the Northern Cape Division offices are now officially open
