Our bull and heifer development has earned a strong, viable reputation for implementing management strategies that help your genetics develop at a pace that maximizes the longevity of your planned matings. In addition, our signature “Right on Red” marketing program and sale have attracted serious attention from progressive breeders nationwide. With continued guidance and support from our industry experts, our data and history show that we continue to grow our reputation as a source of outstanding genetics backed by breeders of unmatched integrity. Our herd consists of approximately 65 head of Angus, Red Angus, Hereford and crosses. We select sires based on genetics that perform well in feedlots and in our freezer trade business, while giving us confidence that our heifers and cows will calve with very little assistance. Our feeding program allows heifers to gain 2.5 lbs./day or better and bulls to gain 3.5 lbs./day or better. Our calving season normally starts in April and ends by the middle of June with the majority of calves born in April and May. We use AI on approximately one-third of the herd to assure continuous improvement on the genetic qualities of our herd. We use sires provided by Genex Cooperative. If you are looking for good quality feeders, replacement heifers and bulls, please feel free to contact us or stop by for a visit. We enjoy showing off our herd. We follow Quality Assurance Guidelines and are Beef Quality Assurance certified.

New York Red Angus Association Opportunities The New York Red Angus Association is strongest when members participate and become actively engaged in the association. What are the opportunities? z Attend and participate in association meetings. Meetings are generally held in January and May/June. We also generally hold a summer field day and an informational program the night before the Right on Red Sale. How can you engage? Attend meetings Volunteer to host a meeting at your farm or nearby location with meeting space Volunteer to be an officer or director z Volunteer to help with the NYRAA booth at the New York Beef Producers Meeting in January. This could include setting up or packing up the booth. Additionally, greet people who come by the booth and share your Red Angus passion. Volunteering for just a couple of hours helps a lot. z Volunteer to help with the NYRAA booth at the New York Farm Show in February. Three action-packed days promoting everything Red Angus. You don’t have to volunteer for all three days. Again, we just need a few hours of your time on a given day. z Participate in the New York Red Angus Development Program. There are many ways to engage: Develop bulls and heifers at the Development Center. Cattle must meet program requirements. Cattle are free to go home at the end of the development period. In general, cattle arrive in early November and leave in late April/early May. Volunteer to work weigh days, ultrasound measurement day, picture and video days. People are always needed to work cattle through the chute, take data, curry comb, and blow out cattle during picture and video days. z Participate in the New York Red Angus Right on Red Sale. Again, multiple ways to engage: Nominate top-quality Red Angus cattle to the sale. Nominations are due in January. Cattle do not need to go through the development program to sell. Help set up the sale location. This includes setting up sale pens, the auction ring area, and the food area; putting out banners; helping with food concessions on the day of the sale; and cleaning up after the sale.
