How do I become Miss Keystone State? The Miss Keystone State goes to the contestant that sells the most ad pages. A minimum of eight (8) pages must be sold to qualify for this title. No paperwork needs to be filled out for this competition, nor is there a fee for participation. After selling 3 ad pages each contestant that participates will earn a cash scholarship at the pageant. The person that sells the most pages will win the crown, sash, and registration to nationals and a place with the titleholders! Yes, you are going to nationals, so get ready, sell your ads and join us as Miss Keystone State! YOUR official job will be to tour the state for one year and represent the CROWN CARES as a role model to all Pennsylvania residents along with our new state titleholders. If you choose not to attend nationals you will still receive the prizes for your sold pages level and the delegate with the next highest number of sold pages that qualifies will receive the state title. If there is a tie for first place, the winner will be determined by the one that has the highest accumulative interview score.

* Free hotel night will be a $125.00 voucher given to you at the state pageant. Delegate is required to book the hotel (regardless of the number of rooms earned). Delegate is also responsible for any taxes, fees, and any incidental charges on hotel room.

Why Participate? This is your chance to win cash awards and some very nice prizes as well as make your state program book a lifelong remembrance of your pageant weekend. It’s also a way for friends and family, as well as local businesses to wish you good luck.
I’m ready to do this…..where do I start? 1) Sit with your family and discuss what level you want to reach 2) Create a listing of people to reach out to. Some examples are: •
Family, friends and neighbors

The insurance agent that handles your family’s insurance needs

Medical and dental professionals in your community
•
Repair and maintenance companies that your family visits
•
Hair salons, and nail salons
•
Dance school, cheer gym—anywhere you take lessons or exercise

Restaurants where your family visits
3) Schedule times with your family to go out and visit possible advertisers 4) Practice what you will say •
Introduce yourself and shake hands—be confident!

Explain why you are there—tell the potential advertiser that you are trying to raise the fees necessary to achieve your goal

Explain what the pageant is about and what you will gain from the experience
•
Be sure to thank them for their time!!
Example: “My name is _____________, and I am a state finalist in the USA National Miss Pennsylvania State Pageant. USA National Miss is a national pageant program that combines all the beauty and excitement of pageantry with the glamour and energy of a runway fashion show—while recognizing the personal achievement, community involvement and academic excellence of young women all across the USA. I will be participating in the Pennsylvania State Pageant this year and my goal is to win __________. Can you help me reach my goal by placing ad advertisement in our program book> This program book will be distributed to people from all over the state on pageant weekend”.

Contact List Make a list of 25 to 50 people you can contact to ask about purchasing advertising. Write down everyone you can think of. Include relative and friends, even those that live out of state. Also list all the businesses and professionals your family visits (doctor, dentist, orthodontist, etc.) Ask your parents who they know that you could contact. Visiting in person works the best!!

State Competition Program Book Delegate Reference Photo: Each state delegate should email a headshot to be included in the state competition program book. Delegate photos will appear by division in the competition program book, and will be used by judges as a reference during the pageant.

Please do not submit any photos where you are wearing a crown or sash. Competition program book photos must be emailed to Pennsylvania@usanationalmiss.com by, no later than, June 1st. Photos not submitted by the deadline will not be included in the program book.
Ad Page: Each state delegate is responsible for selling or purchasing one full page ad for the state competition program book . The one page ad and fees are due to the state office no later than June 1st. The cost for the full page ad is $150.00. Your ad page should be ready to print and emailed by the deadline. We accept ads in following formats: PDF and JPEG. Checks written by advertisers should be made out to PA Pageant Productions and arrive by the deadline. The following pages will assist you in your advertising efforts. Please contact the state office if you have any questions concerning the ad requirements.

USANationalMiss.com Dear Local Business Owner: An outstanding young woman in your community has been selected as a state finalist to compete at the USA National Miss Pennsylvania State Pageant. As a representative of your community, this distinguished young woman will compete for the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania at the national scholarship pageant next summer for the chance to win thousands in college scholarship money to further her education.
