I want to thank you ALL for participating in the USA National Miss Illinois and Wisconsin pageant! This is a great system with many opportunities for girls to learn and grow together as well as show the spirit of pageantry. USA National Miss is a fairly new pageant to the pageant scene but has made quite an impact in its young seven years. In that time, the national director, Jackie Watson, has been voted one of the top 10 pageant directors in the country and USA National Miss was been voted one of the top 10 pageants several years in a row! We hope you help us to make this program grow in the Midwest so other girls get the opportunity to compete at nationals for the chance to win scholarships, travel and many other prizes! On behalf of USA National Miss Illinois and Wisconsin pageant, I would like to thank you for attending our pageant. Whether you are here competing or here to cheer for someone special, we appreciate you taking the time to support them all. Pageants have been an important part of our lives for several years. There are life long lessons taught in pageantry. The interviewing skills, confidence, poise and friendships will have a lasting impact on each and every girl. And they all need the support of friends and families through their journey. We also want to thank our current royalty for a job well done in 2018. I thank you for your patience and helping with the 2019 state pageant. They have all represented USA National Miss so well with their service to their community as well as their support of each other and other young women. They will always be part of the UNM sisterhood. We wish them all the best of luck in their future and hope to see them all back again to compete next year. We hope you have a fun time at today’s pageant and share your positive experience with others to make this pageant bigger and better next year!
Lisa Lovering State Director
Lisa Lovering has been involved in pageants for over 10 years while her daughter competed. Several years ago, she discovered USA National Miss and decided to bring it to the Midwest. She is currently the director of seven states, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota Nebraska, North and South Dakota and Wisconsin. She enjoys providing a platform for girls to learn speaking skills, poise and community service. When not doing pageants she enjoys spending time with her family camping, traveling, all the sports her kids are in and her dogs.

SYDNEY Marsh
Sydney is our reigning USA National Miss Wisconsin 2018\. Although interested in pageantry from a young age, she did not compete in her own first pageant until the age of 21\. After experiencing the feeling of empowerment and immense sense of accomplishment competing brought her, she was hooked. She even completed her undergraduate capstone research project on the stigmatization of pageantry and how contestants combat it. After falling into the “runner-up curse” for several pageants in a row, she finally captured her first crown with USA National Miss this past February. An alumna of the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, Sydney graduated with Highest Honors in December of 2017\. She received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and had a minor in Psychology. She is in the process of applying to graduate school with the hopes of working in university admissions or residence life after receiving her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Student Affairs and plans to eventually pursue her PhD in Sociology. Outside of her academic endeavors, Sydney enjoys working closely with the Madison Children’s Museum and Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin, as well as continuing to promote the messages of the USA National Miss platform The Crown C.A.R.E.S. She is an avid concert-goer, estimating her lifetime concert attendance to be around 80 shows. Her other hobbies include hiking, Pilates, hot yoga, testing out new vegetarian recipes, and eagerly keeping up with her favorite TV show, Forensic Files.

CRYSTAL Cavey
Head Judge, Crystal Carey, is your current Mrs Latina Galaxy, competing for the title of Mrs Galaxy 2020!!! Crystal loves the Galaxy and Belleza Latina International Pageant Systems and is so excited to share this journey with her husband Billy and both children Tori and Raymond.
Crystal loves fashion, coaching women, leading events, fundraising for organizations and helping in her community! Crystal is the wife of Billy Cavey, whom she met in high school in Chicago. She is the mother of Tori and Raymond. The family of four is always on the go-traveling for speaking events, sporting events and family time. Billy and Crystal attend most events together and love to cheer each other on all the way to the finish line. Crystal is a lifetime Illinois resident with a passion and love for working hard and growing women to be their personal best. She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with majors in Corporate Communications and Organizational Communications, and a minor in English. With a lifelong career in sales management, she is a talker, a writer and a presenter! She is very active, as she has been for the last 21 years, in Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority where she has presented at National Conventions, served as a Education Foundation Trustee, been an Alumni Advisor and has been honored as the first Woman of Distinction for the Chicago Metropolitan Alumni Association. She has also remained active at Her Alma Mater, Northern Illinois University. Crystal’s personal platform is “Be Your Personal Best”, of which she is the founder. It is an personal platform organization that motivates, inspires, coaches and drives women and young adults to be better than they’ve ever been. Over the last two years Crystal has been active in over 40 local, state and national level organizations through which she gives back and does community work. She stands for all things community and volunteerism. Crystal has been an active social media blogger with her own blog, often speaks about her weight loss success of losing over 65 pounds, women’s empowerment, goal setting and family life. She has been the keynote speaker for the Latino Graduation Ceremony at Northern Illinois University and has traveled to over 10 universities nationally speaking to women about women’s empowerment, goal setting and kindness. Some of her favorite hobbies are running, exercise, having coffee with close friends.

LAUREN Ridgeway
Hello everyone! I am Lauren Ridgway, and I am so excited to be picking the new midwest state titleholders this year! I am the former UNM Illinois Jr teen 2017, I also placed top 15 at nationals, as well I have competed in the teen USA system. I have modeled for many different designers, in print, runway, and bridal/pageant markets. Some things very close to my heart are helping those with special needs, and playing competitive volleyball. When I look for a titleholder I look for someone who embodies the ideals of a pineapple- she should stand tall, wears a crown(whether or not they are crowned), and is sweet on the inside. I want to crown a titleholder who is unapologetically themselves in every way possible. The titleholder should be an example to everyone around them, and always striving to make the world a better place. Good luck ladies!

KIM Robinson
Kim Robinson is a graduate of Ball State University. During her time at Ball State she was the feature twirler for 5 years. Since graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, she has spent over a decade in the fitness industry and is currently a franchisee with Snap Fitness. When she is not in the gym training and inspiring clients you can hear her on the airwaves of WCBL with her “Fit Friday with Snap Fitness” weekly radio show. Kim has had over 20 years of pageant experience. She has been on stage as a contestant, behind the judges table and mentoring others as a former local director in the Miss America Organization. Kim currently competes in the Mrs. Kentucky America system and promotes her platform “Fit for Life” throughout the Commonwealth. Kim resides in Calvert City, Kentucky with her husband Andrew Robinson and their black Labrador rescue dog Abby. In their free time they enjoy volunteering with their local Lions Club, traveling, live music and baking exquisite desserts!
GABRIELLA Lock
Gabriella, also known as Rella, is an internationally published model who also works in Legal IT. She was a D1 college athlete at Marquette University. She currently lives in Geneva, IL with her fiance and 2 french bulldogs. Rella loves to give back and volunteer; she is an advocate for the NO MORE Campaign as a survivor of domestic violence. Fun fact: She is getting married in Punta Cana December 8th of this year.

AVA KITTY GRESSER, is your 2018 USA National Miss Illinois Princess. While passionate about modeling, acting and pageantry, Ava believes fiercely in service. Recently, she received two major awards; a national Disney “Be Inspired” grant and “Guaranteed Impact” Award. Both programs honor kids making a positive difference in their communities. In 2018, she was a featured guest on “Windy City Live”, a Chicago syndicated tv show as a hometown hero. She has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS news and WGN radio for her community efforts. Ava aspires to be like her role models: to attend both Princeton and Harvard Universities, like Michelle Obama; to inspire, like Meghan Markle, a global activist ; and to become an innovator, like Katherine Johnson who used math and science to put the first man on the moon. Ava aspires to be an entrepreneur and empower girls to think and dream big.

KAHLAN AULD is a 9-year-old from Wisconsin Rapids, WI who believes that one of the best things about pageantry is the personal growth she has obtained. She began her road in the pageant industry at five years old and has already put the many skills she has learned to good use as the reigning 2018 USA National Miss Wisconsin Princess. Her favorite colors include pink and blue because pink is like glitter and blue reminds her of looking up at the sky, one of her favorite things to do. If she could cover herself in a glittery pink and blue slime pool, she would! Family is important to her, fur babies and all. Besides her Mom (Dawn), Dad (Brett), little sister (Alexia), and Grandpa (Papa Per), Kahlan has three cats, two dogs, and a fish. SHYANNA PATTERSON is 11 years old and is the reigning 2018 USA National Miss Illinois Preteen. Shyanna lives in Champaign Illinois and enjoys cheering, basketball, softball. She is a red Belt in karate and in a bully prevention program at her karate school called Leaders For Life. Shyanna has eight older siblings who are all doing “amazing things”, as she says. She also says, “I have wonderful parents named Rebecca and Tyler and I am so thankful they always support me.”

ABBY KAWULA, age 11, is a 6th grade student at Foxview Intermediate School in DePere. She is an active volunteer with American Heart Association and involved in competitive dance. LIA GARDINER is 15 years old and a freshman in high school. She enjoys being with friends, meeting new people, and traveling. Lia is very close with her family, some of her favorite activities to do with them are going on vacation, going hiking, and watching movies together. During her reign she collected over 200 stuffed animals for her platform “Operation Comfort” to deliver to police departments for children in emergency situations. A few of her favorite service events were collecting toys and arts and crafts for the Ronald McDonald House Christmas party, promoting Crown CARES, Shop with a Cop, and the American Heart Association Walk with her Wisconsin sister queens. Lia will forever be grateful for the amazing girls she has met through USA National Miss, this has been an experience she will never forget. Lia has “high” hopes for the future as she plans to go to Arizona State University to attend the Aeronautics program to become a pilot.

ISABELLA VAN BOXTEL is 13 years old and in 8th grade. She has been an All Star Cheerleader since the age of six until major injury in June of 2018 made it impossible for her to compete. She is a sports enthusist at heart and loves off road truck racing and trap shoothing, both activites she does with her family. Isabella loves and actively promoted the USA National Miss anti bullying platform, Crown C.A.R.E.S. She volunteers in her local and surrounding communities and also collect donations for No Kill Animal Shelters. “Weather it’s an animal or a person, if I can make a difference to make things better, it’s all that matters! “

SHREYA GUNDELLY is a 16 year old girl from Mequon, Wisconsin! She has trained in Indian Classical Dance since the age of five, and is also trained in ballet, jazz, and tap. With dance being her major passion, her service platform is centered around educating young girls and boys about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Shreya is a two-time gold medalist in forensics (public speaking) and in July of 2018, she placed in the top 15 as a USA National Miss Teen and in the top 5 in the supermodel category.

Hi there! My name is HALEY NETTLES and I am your USA National Miss Illinois 2018. I have had a fun year as your state queen and have met many new friends along the way. I have volunteered throughout the year at many different organizations such as PAWS Chicago and The Junior League of Chicago. These efforts have been the most rewarding to me as all of the hardwork I have put in has bettered the lives of others. I have become an even more confident woman because of this opportunity. I wear many hats as a recent college graduate, full time employee, part-time work, and an AHL hockey ice crew girl but always find time to better the community that has given me so much already. I want to thank my family that has supported me through this journey and their happiness for this amazing adventure we have all been blessed with.
