Artistic Statement: “I Am Changing” represents the change that we as high schoolers experience
physically, mentally, and emotionally. It displays the emotional maturity that is gained through the struggles of coming to a new place and navigating a new environment. This dance will allow the audience to see how the struggle through the years is worth the triumph felt when we reach the end. Unveiling Visions
Artistic Statement: “Unveiling Visions” explores the journey of self-discovery and the complex
layers that make up who we are. Our choreography embodies the breaking and rebuilding of the self, as we confront illusions and expectations that blur our reflection. We are constantly in our heads about becoming a version of ourselves that we forget true identity isn’t about fitting in or becoming what the world expects, but about embracing the person God intentionally created us to be. We have to destroy that urge to be what everyone wants us to be and discover what our purpose is because in the end, it’s a powerful reminder that clarity and peace come when we finally accept and love our authentic selves. Artistic Statement: Our dance in the Hear It scene explores how voices can twist the truth and
change how we feel about the people we’re supposed to trust. Set to “Rumor Has It” by Adele, it tells the story of a girl caught between love and betrayal as whispers about the boy she loves begin to spread. Through intricate movements and moving formations, we show how what’s heard - but not seen - can break the heart and reshape a person’s reality. This recurring luminescence reminds us that even after the most hard challenges of life, renewal is innate in the cosmic rhythm. My work is the visual reverberation of this celestial promise: a feeling of liberation under the open sky. Movements can be seen repeatedly to show past experiences replay over time as this dance embodies the beauty and pain of carrying memories that become a permanent part of who we are. A Bundle of Joy
Artistic Statement: The most beautiful flowers never bloom alone - they grow in vast fields and
meadows, surrounded by millions of others. They are arranged in bouquets with other beautiful flowers that enhance each other in ways that would be impossible if placed alone. These flowers spend much of their lives in that bouquet, watching each other bloom and when they all inevitably separate, they still have imprints of the others in their own petals - a combined fragrance that will linger until the day they wilt. Class Of 2026 Biographies Kennedy Bowen is a senior at Bishop McNamara High School and this is her fourth year in the Classical Dance program. Kennedy has been in What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and this year's production of DANCE SENSATIONS. Kennedy is also a part of the Traditional African Music and Dance program and in the Honors Sankofa Company. She has been a part of the Sankofa Company since her sophomore year performing in MAYA: The Phenomenal Woman, Oleto: The Albin of Vecalle, and this year TRUTH: An American Icon. In addition to her dance endeavors, Kennedy was also a part of this year’s fall musical, The Wiz, as a part of the dance ensemble. In addition to dance, Kennedy is a part of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
Kaya Davis is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been dancing
since freshman year of high school. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program during all four years of high school. She has been in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory and now DANCE SENSATIONS. Throughout her years of high school she has been involved in the cheer team. Kaya has even been involved in equestrian outside of school. After graduation, although unsure of her major, she plans on attending Morgan State University.
Ryan Bowlding As a future 2026 graduate of Bishop McNamara, Ryan
Bowlding has been a member of the Classical Dance program all four years of high school and has danced since the age of two. She has performed in the productions What MOVES Us! (2023), BMHS Spirit of Dance (2024), HERstory (2025), and now, DANCE SENSATIONS (2026)! In her junior year she joined both the National Honor Society for Dance Arts and the dance team. After graduating, Ryan plans to study architecture at either Hampton University or Temple University while dancing on their majorette or dance team. Ryan would like her parents to know that she loves them deeply and is grateful for every moment and sacrifice they have given to her.
Kennedy Fleming is currently a senior at Bishop McNamara High
School. She is extremely passionate about tap dancing, and has had great accomplishments through the art. At McNamara, she has been in the Classical Dance program for all four years as a part of the Tap track, performed in the musical Annie her junior year, and has been part of Traditional African Music and Dance for the past two years. Outside of dance, she enjoys playing sports, baking, and spending time with her little brother, Kendrick. After high school, she plans to attend college to study kinesiology with a concentration in pre-physical therapy, while continuing her tap training at a professional level.
Chayse Herndon-Smith is a senior at Bishop McNamara High
School, and this is her fourth production with the Classical Dance program. These include, What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and DANCE SENSATIONS. She takes every dance class McNamara has to offer which are the Classical Dance track, Tap Dance track, and Traditional African Music and Dance program. Aside from her classes, she’s also a member of the Honors Sankofa Company, and has been in Sankofa since her sophomore year. She’s performed in MAYA: The Phenomenal Woman, Oleto: The Albin of Vecalle, and will be in this year’s production centering around the life and legacy of Sojourner Truth. She’s one of the two Community Service Leaders for McNamara’s chapter of the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, of which she was inducted in one year, helping to establish the Classical Dance program’s Instagram page (@classicaldance.bmhs)! She’s also in the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement Program (F.A.D.E.) with a focus in Classical Dance and the National English Honor Society. Chayse plans to continue pursuing the arts, hoping to earn a BFA degree in musical theater, with a minor in dance.
Symone Hilliard is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been
in the Classical Dance program throughout all four years of high school. She has been in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory and now DANCE SENSATIONS. Symone was also involved in the Traditional African Music and Dance program during her junior year. Throughout her years here at Bishop McNamara she has been involved in the varsity soccer team and the JV and varsity lacrosse team. During last summer she participated in the McNamara emerging leaders training to help guide the incoming freshman during their orientation. After graduation she plans on attending Towson University with hopes of majoring in criminal justice and minoring in psychology.
Elijah Hopson is a senior at Bishop McNamara. He has previously
been on the tech crew for past Classical Dance productions, but he decided to step on stage as a tap dancer for his final year at the school. Since his freshman year, Elijah has been on the tech crew for other Fine Arts productions such as the Fall musical, Spring play, Sankofa, and the Christmas Festival. Throughout high school, he has remained involved around his school community as the National Honor Society President, the We Are All Educators organization’s Vice President, a peer minister, and a class cabinet member. After graduation, Elijah plans to attend college and study biology in order to achieve his goal of becoming an orthodontist. Although tap dance is new to him, he thoroughly enjoys the expression and creativity that comes with it, and loves his Tap and Classical Dance family that he has gotten to know over the past year.
Mischa James is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been
dancing since the young age of two. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program during her freshman, sophomore, junior, and now senior year. She has been in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory and now DANCE SENSATIONS. Mischa is also involved in the Traditional African Music and Dance program and Honors Sankofa which she joined her senior year. Throughout her years of high school, she has been involved on the dance team. Mischa has also participated in National Honor Society for Dance Arts, Class Cabinet, Student Council, Pre-Health club, Black Culture Alliance, and International Food club. After graduation, she plans on majoring in nursing and minoring in business.
Jazmyn Johnson is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been dancing since freshman year. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program for all four years. She has performed in What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and to end her senior year, she will perform in DANCE SENSATIONS. Jazmyn has also been involved in the track and field team throughout all four years. Though she doesn't know which college she would like to attend yet, she plans on majoring in nursing and continuing her track career.
Chloe Lee is a proud member of the Senior Class of 2026 and has been
in the Classical Dance program since her freshman year. While she has been dedicated to the program throughout high school, Chloe’s passion for dance began much earlier. She has been taking dance classes since the age of eight years old. During her time in the program at Bishop McNamara High School, Chloe has performed in notable productions including, What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and now DANCE SENSATIONS. Beyond the stage, Chloe is a dedicated leader. She served as an Ambassador during her sophomore year and has held the role of President of the W.A.A.E. (We Are All Educators) club for both her junior and senior years. Also as a member of the National Honor Society, Chloe balances her passion for Fine Arts with a strong dedication to her academics. Following graduation, Chloe plans to attend North Carolina A&T University to major in lab animal science and biology, with the goal of becoming an exotic veterinarian. While her career leads towards science and medicine, Chloe looks forward to continuing her passion for dance by taking classes through her college career.
Taliah Lynnae Lewis is a senior and has been dancing since the age
of five. Taliah has been a part of the Bishop McNamara High School Classical Dance program since her freshman year and joined the Honors Sankofa program during her senior year. She has been in the Classical Dance productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and now DANCE SENSATIONS. In April, she will perform in her first Sankofa performance, TRUTH: An American Icon. Additionally, she was a dancer in the 2025 BMHS Fall musical, The Wiz. Throughout her years at BMHS, Taliah has served as Junior Class President and Public Relations Officer during her sophomore and freshman years. Taliah is a member of the Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement program (F.A.D.E.) and is a proud member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, the National Honor Society for Dance Arts and the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Currently, Taliah is the BMHS Executive Student Body President and serves as Vice President of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. As a classically trained dancer, Taliah trains in Pointe, holds a Cecchetti Ballet (Grade 5) certification, and practices Advanced Jazz and Senior Tap. Additionally, Taliah is a member of the Dance Expressions Studio Company team, dedicating over 15 hours each week to refining her skills in these genres. At Dance Expressions, she also serves as a Student Apprentice, assisting teachers with instruction and class activities including young dancers ages four to twelve, while serving as an active student and role model for dancers. Dance has not only shaped Taliah’s discipline but also her character. It has taught Taliah patience through repetition, resilience through setbacks, and pride through perseverance. Dance has also instilled in Taliah the importance of consistency, expression, and the quiet strength of showing up even when no one is watching. “It’s my therapy, my joy, and one of the truest parts of me.” After graduation, Taliah plans to attend Spelman College and study political science/pre-law.
Laila Morehead is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been
dancing since she was three years old. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program since her freshman year. She has been in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, and HERstory. Laila is also involved in the Theatre program, which she joined her senior year. Throughout her years of high school, she has been involved in the Poetry club, of which she has been the Vice President her junior year, and President her senior year. Laila is a member of the National Honor Society, Women’s Empowerment club, and F.A.D.E. After graduation, she plans to attend a university in hopes of majoring in nursing and minoring in psychology. Laila lives by the Golden Rule which states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and the Bible verse from 1 Corinthians 16:14 which says, “Let all that you do be done in love.”
Jada Robinson is a senior at Bishop McNamara High School. She has
been enrolled in the Classical Dance program for four years now. Since her freshman year, she has participated in the annual Spring productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and to end her senior year, she will perform in DANCE SENSATIONS. Jada has also been enrolled in the Traditional African Music and Dance program since her freshman year. She is also a member of the Honors Sankofa Company, an afterschool class that she joined during her sophomore year. Throughout her high school journey, she has been involved in a variety of activities and clubs. During her junior year, she joined the McNamara dance team. Jada is a member of F.A.D.E., National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society for Dance Arts, and her senior class cabinet. She is the Secretary of the National Honor Society and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts; both of these being a representation of her love and dedication to her academics and the arts. After she graduates, she hopes to attend Spelman College, where she will major in psychology. Dance will always be an important part of her, so she plans to join the college’s dance team where she will pursue band dancing. Jada Robinson has always been deeply rooted in her faith. She knows that the things that are meant for her will be for her. God has plans for her to succeed and she is deeply rooted in that belief.
Imani Sadler is a member of the Class of 2026 and has been dancing
since she was three years old. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program for all four years of high school. Throughout her time in the program, Imani has participated in productions such as What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, The Wiz (Fall Musical 2025), and DANCE SENSATIONS. She currently serves as a Community Service and Activity Leader for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. In addition to NHSDA, Imani is also involved in the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and the Black Cultural Alliance. As she looks toward the future, Imani plans to keep dance as a meaningful part of her life, as it has been a lifelong passion. She hopes to continue growing as an artist while pursuing her academic goals at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Addison Sewell is a senior in the Class of 2026 and a transfer
student at Bishop McNamara. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program for one year and brings with her a strong background in performing arts. Addison previously participated in the production Mean Girls at her former school and has been involved in pom dance and cheerleading throughout middle and high school. She also served as Captain of the pom team at her previous school, demonstrating leadership and dedication to dance. While Addison hopes to continue finding opportunities to dance, she plans to pursue volleyball at the collegiate level. She is currently undecided on a college but intends to major in neuroscience or psychology. Addison is excited to continue growing both academically and athletically as she prepares for her future.
Tyler Smith is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been
dancing since the age of seven. She has been a part of the Classical Dance program from her freshman to senior year. She has been in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and now DANCE SENSATIONS. Tyler has participated in the ASL Club as well as the Photography Club here at Bishop McNamara. After graduation, she plans on attending Georgia State in hopes of majoring in sports management/marketing and minoring in dance. Tyler has a very strong relationship with God and lives by the verse Romans 12:2 which states, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Kaela Walker, Class of 2026, has been dancing since a very young age
and has been a member of the Classical Dance program since her sophomore year of high school. Her passion for dance has grown through both in-school and outside training, allowing her to develop as a well-rounded performer. Kaela has performed in several notable productions, including BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and DANCE SENSATIONS. She has been a member of the BMHS dance team, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts since her junior year, and the Traditional African Music and Dance program and Honors Sankofa Company throughout her senior year. Beyond performing arts, Kaela is actively involved in several clubs, including the My Hair My Crown Club, Investment & Philanthropy Club, Aspiring Influencers & Entertainers of McNamara Club, and the Closer 2 God Fellowship. After graduation, Kaela plans to attend either Towson University, North Carolina A&T, Louisiana State University, Elon University, or Hampton University, where she hopes to pursue a doctorate in business administration or entrepreneurship, while minoring in dance. Kaela lives by the Bible verse Psalm 46:5, “God is within her, she will not fall.” This verse guides her as she grows, faces new challenges, and continues to strengthen her relationship with God while preparing for the future.
Ava Wheeler is a senior here at Bishop McNamara and has been
dancing since the age of eight. She has been enrolled in the Classical Dance program all throughout high school, and has performed in the productions What MOVES Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, HERstory, and now DANCE SENSATIONS. She was also the Lead Choreographer for the BMHS Theatre production of The Wiz. Ava joined the National Honor Society for Dance Arts her sophomore year and currently serves as the President. Aside from the Classical Dance program, Ava is Executive Vice President of Student Council, a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society, and F.A.D.E. After graduating she plans to major in education and minor in dance. Ava’s dedication to the arts extends beyond dance, as she plays both piano and clarinet and plans to continue nurturing her talents as she moves forward to the next chapter of her life.
Cy’Mone Williams is a senior and has been dancing since the age of
three. She has been in the Classical Dance program since freshman year and joined Sankofa Company during her senior year. During her time at McNamara, she has been on the dance team during her junior year, Class Cabinet for two years, the Pre-Health Careers Club, and also a part of the Black Cultural Alliance. She is a member of F.A.D.E. (Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement program) and National Honor Society for Dance Arts. When she graduates she plans to pursue a career in health sciences. Her philosophy on life is - Don’t allow others to try and change you.
Ella Williams is a senior and began taking dance classes at the age
of twelve for one season before returning to dance at sixteen, when she enrolled in the Classical Dance program during her junior and senior years. She has been in the productions HERstory and DANCE SENSATIONS, and was on the crew for the Bishop McNamara Theatre production The Learned Ladies. Through Classical Dance, Ella has continued to develop discipline, artistry, and commitment to performance. In addition to Dance, Ella is highly involved in leadership and student life at her school. She serves as the Captain of the cheerleading team and is the President of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. Ella has also held multiple officer positions in Student Council and has been actively involved in even more school activities, demonstrating strong leadership, organization, and a commitment to serving her school community. After graduation, she hopes to attend college and major in political science, with the goal of pursuing a career in government, leadership, or advocacy. Ella has had the best time being a part of the program and will always cherish the fun memories she has had.
Zora Williams is a senior and began dancing at age 13. In her
freshman year, Zora was awarded the Bishop McNamara Classical Dance scholarship. She has been in the productions What Moves Us!, BMHS Spirit of Dance, Oleto: The Albin of Vecalle, and was cast in The Wiz as a dancer. Outside of school, she has been a member of the Artistic Dance Xpressions company for four years. She has received multiple awards for her contemporary solo, “Repeat Until Death,” at regional and national competitions. Additionally, she has earned scholarships to attend dance workshops across the country, and was a member of a national award winning performance entitled “Ease on Down.” When she is not in the studio, Zora serves as the Senior Class President, a member of the F.A.D.E. program (Dance focus), National Honor Society, National Honor Society for Dance Arts, a member of four additional honor societies, and much more at Bishop McNamara. Passionate about advocating for late-starting dancers, Zora plans to continue pursuing dance alongside her dream of becoming a doctor, blending her love for both science and the arts.
Production Team & Artistic Staff Biographies Cindy King (Fine Arts Faculty, Director of Classical Dance, NHSDA Moderator/Advisor) Cindy King is a passionate dance educator, visionary leader, and lifelong advocate for the art of dance. She serves as the Director of Classical Dance at Bishop McNamara High School, where she has been an integral member of the Fine Arts faculty since 2000. In addition, she proudly serves as the moderator and advisor for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, inspiring students to pursue excellence, discipline, and artistry both on and off the stage. With an unwavering commitment to high standards and meaningful training, Ms. King holds an Intermediate Professional Teacher Degree, certifying her to train students and teachers through advanced professional levels of Ballet. As a certified member of the Cecchetti Council of America (CCA), she has successfully trained and presented more than 500 students for CCA ballet examinations. She also holds Tap Teacher Certification through Dance Educators of America and remains an active member of the International Tap Association and the National Dance Education Organization. Ms. King’s journey in dance is deeply rooted in mentorship and artistic excellence. She has trained under some of the most influential and celebrated figures in dance, including Luigi, Gus Giordano, Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Doug Caldwell, Savion Glover, and Henry LeTang. As a performer, she appeared in numerous local and national competitions and professional productions, experiences that continue to inform her teaching and choreography. In 1977, Ms. King founded her own dance school, presenting her first recital in 1979 with 35 students. Due to rapid growth, the studio relocated in 1983 to Forestville, Maryland, directly across from Bishop McNamara High School, serving more than 100 students and creating teaching opportunities for emerging educators. From 1994 to 2019, she operated her studio in Upper Marlboro to accommodate continued expansion and demand. For more than four decades, Ms. King has dedicated her life to teaching, mentoring, and coaching generations of dancers. She has choreographed and produced annual performances involving thousands of students, fostering creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the arts. Her students have performed extensively in community productions, earned recognition at local and national competitions, and, most importantly, formed bonds and friendships that endure long after the final curtain call. Favorite Quotations: "Dancers are athletes of God"~ Albert Einstein Life's most persistent and urgent question is: "What are you doing for others?"~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Zuri Foreman ‘09 (Fine Arts Faculty, Classical Dance) Ms. Zuri Foreman is a professional dancer, singer, actress, and CEO of The Foreman Arts School. She has been trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Hip-Hop, African dance, Voice, and Acting. Ms. Foreman holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from St. John’s University and a Dance Theatre Certificate from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Dr. Gerald George (Fine Arts Technical Director) Dr. Gerald George (Dr. G.) is the Fine Arts Technical Director at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, MD. A theatre generalist, he has a background in higher education, theatre production, and management. Outside the classroom, his theatre experience includes work in traditional and non-traditional stagings of straight plays, musical theatre, and theatre for young audiences. He serves as Associate Technical Director of the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts and in diverse capacities including stage direction, design, technical direction, performance, stage management, production management, and non-profit theatre management. A Marine veteran, and member of the Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and the Fleet Reserve Association, he has also been active in the community having served as a three-term member on the City of Bowie Arts Committee – an advisory body to the City Council.
Patrick Casimir (Guest Choreographer) Patrick has always had a love for the performing arts. At The Florida State University, Patrick directed a multicultural dance company which created evening length productions touring throughout Florida. Upon finishing his degree at The Florida State University, Patrick moved to Orlando where he earned a Masters in Business Administration. While performing for venues such as Universal Studios and Disney, Patrick obtained a degree in Dance Studies at the University of South Florida. He continued training throughout the United States with companies such as Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Arch Dance, Orlando Ballet and Washington Ballet. Patrick toured with the "The Marvin Gaye Project" under the direction of Vincent Thomas and now is a resident artist with ArtsCentric and Joe’s Movement Emporium. While performing in regional Broadway venues such as Signature Theatre, Olney Theatre, and the John F. Kennedy Center, Patrick has been a resident teacher/choreographer in the DMV area, teaching at institutions such as Starmakers Academy of Dance, Bishop McNamara High School, and a variety of other schools and programs throughout the United States. Zari Davis ‘11 (BMHS Alum, Guest Choreographer) Zari Davis is a PG County, MD native and has been teaching in the area for over ten years. Zari began dancing at the age of five and trained in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, and Modern. During high school, Zari danced all four years in the Classical Dance program at Bishop McNamara. She has many years of competition and performance experience. She has danced on many stages including BET’s 106 & Park, Lincoln Theatre, and the Kennedy Center. In high school she became part of Capitol Movement Inc., a pre-professional company, and later she began dancing with their adult professional company where she still dances today. She went on to major in dance and business finance at Temple University where she also danced on their Diamond Gems dance team. She was also a member of The Dance Institute of Washington’s adult company, Reflections, under the late Fabian Barnes of Dance Theatre of Harlem. Along with continuing her dance career and being a StarMakers teacher, Zari also teaches at many schools in the DC area. Faith Harrison ‘23 (BMHS Alum, Guest Choreographer) Faith Harrison is a 2023 graduate of Bishop McNamara High School and is currently a junior at Hood College, where she is majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources. She serves as captain of the Hood College Dance Ensemble and currently teaches Ballet and Tap at her alma mater dance studio, Dance Dimensions. During her time at Bishop McNamara, Faith earned her Fine Arts Diploma Endorsement (F.A.D.E.) and was actively involved in the Sankofa Company, African Dance, the Honors Classical Dance Program, and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. In the future, Faith aspires to work in Human Resources for a major hospitality company and ultimately open her own dance studio.
Mia Watkins ‘23 (BMHS Alum, Guest Choreographer) Mia Watkins (‘23) is a PG County native and has been dancing since the age of three. She’s trained in many styles of dance including Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Pointe. Mia graduated from Bishop McNamara in 2023 and was in the Classical Dance program for three years. She has performed in a variety of different shows and dance intensives inside and outside of McNamara. She is currently a student at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and used to train at B. Funk Dance Company under the direction of Laura Edwards. She has also received training from some very notable programs and intensives. These include CityDance Conservatory, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey, Joffrey School of Ballet, and Koin & Co in New York. Dance has been Mia’s passion for a very long time and she continues to train to not only grow as a dancer but also as an artist and choreographer. Wyndee McGovern (Guest Choreographer) Wyndee McGovern is a master teacher certified by both Dance Educators of America & Dance Masters of America. Wyndee proudly owned and operated Spotlight Studio of Dance in Millersville, MD, overseeing a complete program of Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Acrobatics, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop for dancers ages two to eighteen for twenty-five years. In 2002, her choreography for “Slippin’ Into Darkness” earned her a position as a finalist in the Jazz Dance World Congress’ Choreography Event, sponsored by Leo Dancewear, which recognizes outstanding achievement in choreography throughout the world. In that same year, she founded Jazzfuzion, a pre-professional performance company, specializing in Contemporary and Jazz. In March 2004, Wyndee and her company made their Broadway debut in “Nothin’ Like a Dame - 2004” at the St. James Theater with their interpretation of Michael Jackson’s “In The Closet.” Her dancers were awarded the silver medal for choreography at the 2009 Leo’s Choreographic Event, held at the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago, III. She was named the jazz head coach for the International Dance Organization for Team USA, for their Dance Championship performance in Warsaw, Poland in 2024. In 2008, Wyndee was commissioned to choreograph for the noted Kirov Academy of Ballet’s Holiday Concert in Washington, DC. That same year she went on to implement a new contemporary program for their advanced/preprofessional levels and serve as the resident teacher of the same. Ms. McGovern served as chief dance advisor for the “Winning Way” College Preparation Program, continuing to research and help advance young dancers through the college and career path. She implements this program to her junior and senior year students providing mentoring, guidance and inspiration to those that participate. Wyndee continues to serve as a judge and adjudicator for many reputable organizations including Inferno, Dance Masters of America Title Pageants and Performing Arts Scholarship program, Showbiz National Talent Competition, Legacy Talent, Inferno, Dance Educators of America, Onstage America, and Dance Team Union. Her dancers are currently performing in the hottest tickets on Broadway such as “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Hamilton,” “MJ,” and "Funny Girl.” They belong to Marvel Universe and can also be seen in “The Black Panther” along with its sequel, “ABC’s Will Trent,” “The Bad Boys of Dance - Rock The Ballet,” “The Radio City Rockettes,” “The Lion King” in Las Vegas, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and many collegiate dance companies and dance teams. Lastly, Wyndee is also a very proud single mom to her beautiful daughter that is certainly following in her mother’s footsteps, becoming a dancer herself as well as being the 2024 Ideal Miss Junior Teen of Maryland!
Cayla Williams ‘21 (BMHS Alum, Guest Choreographer) Cayla Williams is a professional dancer, certified dance educator, choreographer, and studio owner based in the Maryland-DC area. She is an alumna of Towson University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography along with a PK-12 Dance Education Certification. Ms. Williams is dedicated to using dance as a tool for education, storytelling, and empowerment, creating spaces where students of all ages can grow artistically and personally. With over 18 years of dance training, Ms. Williams has a broad foundation in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Acro, African Dance, Liturgical Dance, and Hip-Hop. Her training includes mentorship under notable educators and choreographers at studios throughout the region, as well as advanced summer intensives at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Atlanta and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Her diverse training informs both her performance quality and her dynamic, well-rounded teaching approach. Ms. Williams has an extensive background in performance and choreography and has received numerous honors throughout her career, including the True Artistry Award, Showstopper All Star recognition, 2019 Senior Ms. Starquest, 2021 Senior Miss Beyond the Stars, and 2021 Intrigue Senior True Performer. As a choreographer, her work emphasizes musicality, intention, and storytelling, encouraging dancers to move with both technical precision and authentic expression. Currently, Ms. Williams serves as a dance instructor, master class facilitator, and award-winning choreographer for multiple studios and schools. She is also the Owner and Creative Director of CJW Studio of Dance, LLC, a studio specializing in individualized, one-on-one dance training. As a certified educator, Ms. Williams is passionate about fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments and remains committed to uplifting and connecting with others through the art of dance.
