The Flying Dutchman Wagner

Lost souls bound by the sea

A ghostly ship roams the endless sea, vast, lonely and unrelenting. Its captain cursed to sail for eternity until redeemed by true love.

Senta, captivated by the story of the mysterious Flying Dutchman condemned to sail forever, becomes the only hope for his salvation. Her longing for escape entwines her fate with his in ways neither could foresee.

This gripping reimagining of The Flying Dutchman explores the deep ache of

loneliness and the fragile hope of human connection. Inspired by the sublime beauty of the Welsh coast, the sea is the opera’s canvas, and both a compulsion and prison for its characters. Wagner’ s orchestrations from the thunderous overture to its haunting arias, become the heartbeat of the story, evoking the power of the ocean and leaving you adrift in its spell.

Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man

Fasten your seat belts…

Matthew Bourne’s award-winning The Car Man is back! Loosely based on Bizet’s ever-popular opera, The Car Man has one of the most thrilling and instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures’ repertoire.

The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy 1950’s garage-diner in the American Mid-West where the dreams and passions of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge.

Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling combines with one of the most passionately dramatic scores ever written, with music by Terry Davies

featuring Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen), to create a dance thriller like no other.

The Car Man will ignite your senses and leave you breathless.

“Buckle up for the ride of your life. Gripping, gasp-making, edge of your seat stuff”

Daily Mail

“A shatteringly good piece of storytelling. Terrific”

Young lovers are caught between prejudice and warring street gangs in this seminal retelling of Romeo and Juliet. From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Presented by National Youth Music Theatre in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome

New Musical

Five of Rudyard Kipling’s tales weave together into a wonderous tale of personal courage, individuality and friendship. A 25-year project that began with a series of inspirational stories, Stiles and Drewe (Honk! and Mary Poppins) bring us an imaginatively empowering piece of theatre, set to an eclectic, upbeat score. Presented by National Youth Music Theatre in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome

Every Day is a new musical with a contemporary pop score. Every day ‘A’ wakes up in a different teenager’s body with no warning of where or who it will be. Exploring the inner thoughts and feelings of their host, A’s only goals in life are to not intervene and to give each host a good day. That is until they meet Rhiannon and suddenly their transitory world isn’t enough... Presented by National Youth Music Theatre in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome

This new folk musical explores belonging, community, and the risks and rewards of stepping into the unknown. British Youth Music Theatre partners with Birmingham Hippodrome to blend myth and modern Britain in this shanty-inspired reimagination of Selkie folklore, where young people make life-shaping choices and communities unite in the face of change.

Falling for Jesus is a mortal sin.

But damn, it feels good! Good South American altar boy Jesús is preparing for his first communion but when he looks at the hot man on the cross, he feels something... unholy.

Catholic guilt collides with unrepentant queerness in this sinful, heart-pounding mix of live music, dark humour and Latin heat. If Bo Burnham, Bad Bunny, and Bertolt Brecht had a baby, this would be it.

Tackling colonialism, religion, and queer awakening, Jeezus! was a winner of the UNTAPPED Award, and took the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe by storm.

This blasphemous romp has been hailed by critics as:

“Deliciously subversive & wholly irreverent”

Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella

A siren sounds...

New Adventures return with the 30th

Anniversary celebration of one of their most popular and beloved productions, Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella - a thrilling and evocative love story, set in London during the Second World War.

Matthew Bourne’s epic interpretation of the classic fairytale, has, at its heart, a true war-time romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the Blitz.

With Lez Brotherston’s glorious Olivier Award-winning designs, lighting by Olivier Award-winning Neil Austin and video and projection designs by Duncan McLean, Cinderella features sensational sound design by Paul

Groothuis which will take the audience into the heart of Prokofiev’s magnificent score, and the sights and sounds of war-torn London.

Cinderella is both a tribute and a testament to the spirit of London during a time when every second counted and lives were changed forever. Bourne’s vivid storytelling has never been more heart-stopping and touching, creating a unique and unforgettable depiction of a familiar but timeless fable.
