MATERIALS:
• Gütermann x Birch Blooms Fabric 110cm width (640961)
- Binding & Changing mat strips aprox. 1.4 metres

- Constrasting strips 80cm

• Wadding/Fleece (071100)
• Co-ordinating Gütermann thread
• Sewing Machine
• Bias Tape Maker (Q57232)
Note: Seam allowance is 10mm

CUTTING OUT:

Cut 2 Small Panels — 7cm x 55cm
Cut 2 End Panels — 7.5cm x 55cm
* Use the corner template at the back of this pattern to trim one set of corners along one side of long edge of both panels.
Cut 1 Continuous Bias as per diagram and dimensions provided.
Cut 1 Back — 81cm x 55cm. Use corner template to trim all four corners to shape

Cut 1 Centre panel aligned along the horizontal panel design — 32cm x 55cm
Cut 1 Top & 1 Bottom Panel aligned along the horizontal panel design — 17cm x 55cm

Cut 2 Wadding/Fleece — 81cm x 55cm use corner template to trim all four corners to shape.
*The fabric and threads requirements is for making change mat in the photograph. Before cutting review the placement of colours in case you want to make you own choices.

CONTINUOUS BIAS:

• On the wrong side draw chalk lines 5 cm apart.
• With right sides facing, pin so that the top edge of one side is in line with the first pencil line on the other. (Refer to diagrams)
• Stitch with a 6mm seam allowance to make a tube. Press seam open.
• Cut along the chalk lines to make the binding.
• Use a 25mm Bias Tape Maker to create the required length of bias.
• Feed the cut strip through the wide end of the bias tape maker and press with a hot iron as the folded tape exits at the narrow end.


ASSEMBLY:
1. Stitch a small panel to each side of centre panel
2. Stitch the top and bottom panel to each small panel
3. Stitch an end panel to each remaining raw edge of the top and bottom panel
4. Pin and tack both wadding/fleece layers to front panel to secure in place.
5. At 5cm intervals, stitch front panel to wadding/ fleece.

6. Pin and tack the front panel to the back to secure in place.
7. Carefully secure the prepared continuous bias over the raw edges ensuring that you evenly fold the bias so that the binding finished edge is even on both sides of change mat. 5cm
