MATERIALS:
• Gütermann x Birch Blooms Fabric (640961) OR Gütermann Blooms Fat Quarters (640962):
- 30cm of fabric 1 (FANFARE BLUE)
- 19 x 11cm of fabric 2 (BLOSSOM PINK)
- 19 x 33cm of fabric 3 (FANFARE NAVY)
*Use up to 3 contrasting patterns. Design as required).

• 18 cm Birch Dress Zip (013825)
• Vanishing marking pen (Q57289)
• Co-ordinating Gütermann threads
• Sewing machine

CUTTING OUT:
Cut 2 main sides fabric 1 (FANFARE BLUE)
Cut 1 base from fabric 2 (BLOSSOM PINK)
Cut a 1 lining from fabric 3 (FANFARE NAVY) *If lining pattern is a one way design, optionally add seam and cut 2.
Cut 1 wadding on fold.

SEWING:
1. Pin and stitch base to side panels to create the outer bag. Press seams flat.
2. Draw 6 quilting lines on base in erasable pen (see image – optionally these lines can can be sewn by eye if confident). Pin and sew outer bag fabric to wadding along quilting lines. Join the lining seam if lining is cut 2 or lie lining flat behind the outer bag.
3. Notch the centre/ top of outer bag and lining where zip will be applied. Take zip and notch at centre to make it easier to match zip along curves. Hand catch the top and bottom tapes of the zip towards the wrong side (back) of the zip to help them sit correctly.
4. Pin zip face down to right side of outer bag ensuring zipper stop at base won’t be caught in any seam allowance. Using zipper foot sew on zip tape with 0.5cm seam. Partially close zipper as required and backtack at end. Undo zip and stitch opposite side of zip 0.5cm seam.
5. Place lining along zipper seam line with right sides of fabric together. Using zipper foot, pin and stitch lining to zipper tape with a 0.7cm seam on both sides.
6. Bag out and press the lining and outer fabric along the zip. Using the zipper foot or regular foot (if allows), topstitch along the zip as far as possible and backtack at ends.
7. Bag out lining to outside. On one side of the pouch sew a 0.7cm side seam including the lining and outer bag. (Pin prior to stitching to ensure the zip will meet correctly as you stitch, and take care to avoid sewing zipper head and stopper).
8. Now close the other sideseam leaving a 5-6cm gap in the lining to bag out.
9. Sew the bottom corner gussets of the outer bag and lining – 0.7cm.
10. Bag out the entire make up bag through the gap in the lining and press. (this step may take some time). Machine or hand stitch the opening in the lining to fully turn through the bag. Give the bag a final press and you’re ready to go!
