Maharajah Balarama Varma (1798-1810) brought 'Chaliars' the weaver families from Tamil Nadu and settled them at BALARAMAPURAM. Exclusive cotton fabrics with zari (Kasavu) are woven in the traditional style of 'throw - shuttle' pit looms. Recently 'Ayur Vasthra' (Wellness Fabrics), dyed with Aurvedic herbs and plants without chemicals are exported to USA, Europe, UK etc. M.P.A.
