We have established a Corporate Sponsorship program to reduce the number of requests from Magnolia Manor to ONE annual opportunity to support our fundraising events on each campus. There are three Corporate Sponsorship levels available for 2019. Each level comes with individual event recognition that is only available to corporate sponsors, as well as tickets and registration fees to each event. Please support our fundraising efforts by filling out the enclosed form and returning it before Feburary 10, 2019.

Emergency Preparedness Fund In three years, Magnolia Manor has weathered three hurricanes: Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017, and Michael in 2018. After Hurricane Irma we decided that we needed to add backup generators on all eight of our campuses. While our Nursing Centers had generators, many needed updating; and our Assisted Living buildings received new generators. When Hurricane Michael hit Southwest Georgia, our Americus campus lost power for two days. Thanks to our new generators, our residents did not go without. While the addition of these generators has been a blessing, they do come at a cost. With the help of our 2018 Corporate Sponsors and Fundraising Events, we were able to pay for almost half of the generators. That is why our 2019 fundraising efforts will be used to bring this project to completion. We hope you will join us in our final year of raising money for our emergency generator project. This will ensure we are prepared for whatever emergency situation arises next.
About Magnolia Manor Magnolia Manor was founded in the late 1950s when the South Georgia Conference of the Methodist Church commissioned an internal study on the needs of the elderly.The study identified the need for housing where residents can feel safe and secure without having to worry about home maintenance or isolation from others.They also identified a need for long-term care for the elderly, including skilled nursing. At the same time, Kate Witte, a long-time resident of Americus, left a bequest of land designated to provide a home for the elderly. The two missions came together to create a beautiful ministry.The Rock of Ages Foundation was created from the bequest, and in 1959, the Foundation deeded 392 acres to the South Georgia Methodist Home for the Aging, Inc., known from its inception as Magnolia Manor. Since then, the ministry has expanded across denominational and geographical boundaries, embracing residents from all faiths and walks of life. We are a faith-based non-profit organization and operate on the values of the Christian faith. Although our roots are in Methodism, we proudly serve persons of all faiths and beliefs. Our mission, vision, and values serve as motivation each day to continue improving quality care for our residents. When Magnolia Manor opened its doors in 1963 in Americus, it quickly became recognized as a leader in retirement living. Our ministry has grown over the last 50 years to include locations in Macon, Richmond Hill, Moultrie, St. Marys, Buena Vista, St. Simons Island, and Columbus, Georgia. Over the last five decades thousands of South Georgians have called Magnolia Manor home. Every day we meet the needs of almost 1,300 individuals through independent living, catered care, assisted living, personal care, skilled nursing care, Alzheimer’s and specialized memory care.
League of the Good Samaritan the
The Methodists of South Georgia created Magnolia Manor to minister to the needs of older adults in the name of Christ and the Church.When this ministry was born more than half a century ago, our founders embraced a vision: no resident would ever have to leave if, through no fault of their own, they were unable to pay.The way we fulfill that vision is through The League of the Good Samaritan, a benevolent fund that pays for care when residents’ money runs out.
More than 60% of the residents in Magnolia Manor facilities require some form of financial assistance either through Medicaid, Section 8 (HUD),Veterans Benefits and/or The League of the Good Samaritan. Often the financial assistance we provide to residents exceeds donations for their care by thousands of dollars, but they still live with us because we made a promise. Most budget years, private pay and reimbursement from government agencies have resulted in an average shortfall of $6.14 per resident each and every day. It is through The League that we are able to fill this gap.
Americus Wilder Walk Ray and Juanita Wilder have been long time supporters of Magnolia Manor. In the 27 years they have lived at Magnolia Manor in Americus, they have raised over $300,000 for The League of The Good Samaritan. Juanita started The Manor Sale as a way to raise money for The League. People would donate used items they wanted to get rid of, and she would resell them in her “store�. Employees and residents alike look forward to her sale every other Friday. The Wilders also raised money for the 5K and Love Walk every year, raising $8,000 in 2018 alone, even with Mrs. Wilder having a broken ankle. That is why we were thrilled to honor them by renaming the event The Wilder Walk in 2018. Residents, staff, family members, and other supporters walk one lap around campus to show their support of Magnolia Manor, raising money in the process. In order to make this event special, we have decided to separate the 5K from the Wilder Walk. The Walk will take place in the spring of 2019 as a fundraiser for The League of The Good Samaritan. This event will be free to participate, but we ask participants to raise money by securing sponsors, just as Ray and Juanita do. Luminaries will also be available to purchase in honor or memory of a loved one.
