CEO Don Bubar of Avalon Advanced Materials retired but will continue to sit on the board. He has led Avalon for more than 25 years, steering the company towards its focus on critical minerals and pioneering ESG and sustainability reporting within the junior mining sector. Bubar grew the company’s flagship Separation Rapids lithium project from exploration to development stage, positioning the project for the upcoming demand in lithium, driven by the shift to electrification.
Erik Buckland is now a partner in charge of global mining recruitment at Lincoln Strategic, where he will further develop the company’s suite of executive search, technical recruitment, and management consulting services. He is a seasoned professional who, in his 20 years of experience, has earned a strong reputation for his specialized knowledge and broad international network of world-class talent. Buckland’s focus will be on strategic leadership searches, private equity, and board searches for mining clients.
Workplace Safety North director of health and safety, Cindy Schiewek, has been named one of Canada’s top women in safety by Canadian Occupational Safety. She helped develop a new tool that measures workplace safety culture called the Internal Responsibility System Climate Assessment and Audit Tool, which is a roadmap to reduce workplace injuries. She is a Canadian registered safety professional, a certified psychological health and safety advisor, and is completing her master’s in business administration.
