I was intrigued by the way she sat, and the turn of her head, and the light on her figure. The environment grew around this. I imagined her as disjointed from her environment. She is exposed to voyeurs.

Deer are symbolic to me, I find I commonly cross paths with them. I love the meaning behind their existence and find fawns to be precious creatures! This magical deer in particular with all of her fruits and foliage give a warm feeling on the cold days of winter. I used spray paints that are metallic for a really cool shimmer effect, stencils, drips and even watercolors! Finished with acrylic paint and then oil paint!

Matted painting. It was done on Arches 140 lb. wet paper stapled to a 4' x 8' board to stretch. My life was in a disaster after a serious car accident and then a divorce. I couldn't work and was facing several back and shoulder surgeries, couldn't work and could hardly move my arms to paint. I happened to pick a snapdragon from my garden and really took a good look at it as I snapped it open and shut and just felt like it was my life snapping away. But it was time for a new beginning and used the bans of division containing seeds ready to open to the world dividing it between the earth and sky above as it breaks through the earth for a fresh start.

I wanted to do something inspired by stained glass because of an art history class I was taking at the time. I decided on the tiger because tigers are my favorite animal. I wanted this piece to showcase how I have grown as an artist and as an individual. The different shards of the tiger represent the different pieces of individuals. On their own, they don’t seem that important. Each shard builds onto the next, and when put together, they create a beautiful picture. Individual shards of glass may seem easier to shatter. Together they remain stronger.
