One Hoover, For All

Discover the many facets of this fast-growing, suburban city

Hoover is a dynamic city. Founded in 1967 with a population of 410 and encompassing just four city blocks, today it offers something for each of its nearly 93,000 residents—making it an ideal place to call home or build a business. While a cliché phrase, there truly is something for everyone in Hoover’s numerous parks, shops, art studios and festivals, golf venues and athletic endeavors.

From west of I-459 to Highway 280, you are sure to find an activity to pique any interest.

FOR THE CREATIVES

A buzzing art scene, Hoover is home to art galleries located in Aldridge Gardens and the Hoover Public Library, plus talented artisans, makers and painters, and two large, popular art shows that draw crowds and vendors from around the nation.

Bluff Park Art Show & Moss Rock Festival

Each fall, Hoover hosts two established art festivals—the Bluff Park Art Show and the Moss Rock Festival—both recognized for generating significant interest within the community.

Bluff Park held its 62nd annual art show in the fall of 2025, organized by the Bluff Park Art Association. Originally started to fund library expansion at Bluff Park Elementary, it now attracts over 4,000 visitors and artists nationwide. The show features creative finds from hand-crafted jewelry, and wood works, to paintings and hands-on art activities for the kids.

Celebrating over 20 seasons, Moss Rock Festival is another one-of-a-kind outdoor fall art event welcoming thousands of visitors annually. The Moss Rock Festival centers on celebrating nature and outdoor experiences, featuring artists whose creations are influenced by themes of sustainability, recycling, upcycling, and the use of natural materials such as clay, glass and wood. Its primary focus is on eco-friendly creativity, but also includes unique events, such as its annual beer garden, where craft breweries and homebrewers compete in a tasting for the best ale.

FOR THE PHILANTHROPIST

Hoover is fortunate to have many local non-profits working to improve daily life for its residents. These philanthropies work tirelessly to combat issues that include food insecurity, veterans’ care, health advocacy, and many other local, hands-on service opportunities.

Hoover Helps

Hoover Helps is a weekend backpack program that provides students in need with access to food each week. “Teachers and counselors make it possible for students in all 18 Hoover City Schools to have access to food. We are fortunate to partner with our school principals, 13 faith-based organizations, and hundreds of local volunteers,” says Donna and Greg Bishop, founders of Hoover Helps. “About 500 students in grades K-5 participate in the backpack program each week. Middle and high school counselors have resources on-site for students who need them.” Working with a team of nutritionists, Hoover

Helps provides a bag of shelf-stable, nutritious items that a child can easily prepare for themselves, while still accommodating food allergies and mixing up the included items to keep the kids’ meals exciting.

“Counselors, teachers, and lunchroom personnel do an incredible job of letting us know if a student needs help and identifying siblings that need help, too,” explains the Bishops. Referrals are always discreet, so that parents can provide for their children comfortably with anonymity.

Grace Klein Community

Grace Klein Community gets to the very core of service and volunteerism by asking the question: “How do we implement an ‘others first’ lifestyle? By loving our neighbors as we love ourselves.” For over 15 years, Grace Klein has provided opportunities for groups, families and individuals to share that love by serving others. In partnership with Bundles of Hope, the organization provides diapers and wipes for new moms. They also feed countless families weekly through their FeedBHM and drive-through food assistance sites. Seasonal programs, including their school supply drive and Papa J’s Christmas Workshop, help provide children with essential items needed for school and the holidays. For more on Grace Klein Community, see page 32.

Hoover Service Club

The Hoover Service Club is made up of nearly 140 service-minded women giving of both their time and talents to the organization’s mission of meeting various community needs by means of scholarships, hands-on service activities, community service grants, and other volunteer opportunities. “One of the greatest accomplishments of the club is serving [Hoover for] over 50 years, and donating one hundred percent of funds raised. Over the past five decades, we have donated over $1,000,000 to community service grants and Hoover scholarships,” explains Heather Pierce, the Hoover Service Club’s 2025-2026 president. “My favorite event of the year is our annual fundraiser, Hearts in Harmony, which provides funds, enabling the Hoover Service Club to continue its legacy of helping others. The club’s benevolence shines through food assistance, support for children and women, health advocacy, veteran care, and monthly service projects, touching countless lives.”

The Hoover Chamber has also been wonderful to work with and are very supportive of us. Many Hoover businesses have embraced us and have chosen Alabama Goods as their source for corporate gifts.” Alabama Goods offers a wide selection of state-themed merchandise, like Earthborn Pottery, high-end jewelry by Sarah Cavender, local sauces and dips, clothing, candles, soaps, and accessories, all made by Alabamians.

Shop Wrapsody for classic gifts and décor from top brands such as E. Newton jewelry, candles from Tyler, capri BLUE and GLASSHOUSE, and Oliver Thomas bags, as well as the best selection of special occasion gifts and décor. “My favorite part of owning a store in Hoover is the customers and community. FOR THE SPORTS ENTHUSIAST

Hoover boasts two of the Southeast’s top spectator sports events: the SEC Championship and Regions Tradition. Whether it’s the all-American sport of baseball or a birdie, Hoover has spent decades providing residents and numerous guests with a month of fantastic entertainment. Each spring, our city gears up to welcome thousands of visitors for two weeks in May!

Regions Tradition

The Regions Tradition takes place every spring in late April or early May at Greystone Golf & Country Club. As a premier event on the PGA Tour Champions for over 35 years, the tournament is recognized as one of the five major championships on the senior tour. It consistently attracts leading golfers from across the world, helping Greystone become a premier destination for both fans and professional golfers alike. This event aims to provide top-level golf and support the local community, while showcasing Birmingham internationally and bringing together fans, volunteers, and athletes for a week focused on golf and charitable efforts.

SEC Championship

The SEC Baseball Tournament is held in mid-to-late May at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex. This event decides the conference champion and impacts NCAA Tournament selections. Baseball fans from all over the southeast flock to Hoover for a week of America’s favorite sport!

The SEC FanFest—an indoor game and entertainment event at The Finley Center during the tournament—attracts game patrons, as well as other Hoover residents and visitors. It’s an exciting place for local youth baseball and softball teams, and fans of all ages, to get in from the heat while they wait for their favorite college team to take the field. The FanFest area is both free and open to the general public.

Artist Spotlight Liz Lane Gallery

“My mom, Lorrie Lane, has been a professional artist most of my life. The scent of oil paint felt as comforting as chocolate chip cookies to me. Growing up, she sometimes worked in a home studio, and at other times had a gallery where she also painted. When she worked and I was around, she would give me art supplies to keep me occupied, and I would paint for hours,” reminisces Liz Lane, local Bluff Park artist and gallery owner. “I went to college for journalism and film, then switched to fashion design, knowing that I had to do something creative. I knew supporting myself as an artist was not going to be easy, so I tried everything else first. But after managing a gallery in Homewood for several years, I began selling my paintings and making more from that than at my day job. I was also expecting my first daughter at the time, so I jumped into painting full-time and never looked back.”

“I opened my first gallery in downtown Homewood, but the building I rented was not in the best shape. We threw ‘lipstick on a pig’ and painted everything white. It worked wonderfully for five years, until the ceiling fell after a bad storm. I decided I wanted to be closer to my house, especially now, having two young elementary school kids, and decided to move my business to Hoover,” explains Lane. “It’s different than in Homewood, where I had more foot traffic, but I don’t mind the

quiet space here. During Covid, most of my business ended up coming from out-of-state through online and galleries. Having a space closer to home that’s a bit quieter really gives me time to explore my creative process. I recently made the decision to downsize and keep my existing space as more of an open studio than a gallery. It’s been lovely, but I still appreciate people dropping in or making appointments to see the creative process.”

“Advice to young artists- just keep doing it!” encourages Lane. “Even if you have a lot of technical skill—which I don’t—it can take years to really find your artistic voice…I would really focus on the novelty of your own experience and put that into your art. For me, it’s a love of nature and the feeling of energy that flows through it—wild, undefined, alive—and I’m still trying to find that voice even after a decade of painting professionally.”

Lane adds, “I don’t think anyone ever perfects the profession, otherwise, there would be nothing left to create. But through this process, don’t be afraid to sell your work. Do shows, small at first. Put up a website and create a newsletter. Eventually, find representation and realize that sometimes the best representation isn’t a white wall gallery but a local shop. I limit commissions or custom work, but they really helped me get going. Don’t limit yourself. AI can’t ever replicate your novelty. The world needs handmade, one-of-a-kind creations more now than ever!”

From Gross Revenue to Giving Back

How Hoover’s Automotive Dealerships Make an Impact

People in Hoover and the surrounding areas love new automobiles. Some are attracted by the brilliant shine of factory paint, that heavenly new car aroma, or the cushy seats unflattened by use and age. For others, the appeal lies in the purring of a new engine, the deep treads of new tires, or the digital features that give dashboards a sleek, futuristic look.

Whatever a customer’s reason for jumping into the automotive market, there’s nothing like a new ride to add joy to the daily journey. Thus, along the Hoover Auto Mall (an informal reference to the dealerships along Montgomery Highway and down John Hawkins Parkway), business is booming, annually generating millions of dollars in tax revenue for the city through sales and employment.

Hoover’s automotive community provides jobs for hundreds of people, some living within the city limits, some not, but all of whom spend their workdays – and earnings – in Hoover.

“We have 186 employees, so even if they don’t live in Hoover, they do a huge amount of business here,” said Terry Poole, General Manager of Long-Lewis Ford of Hoover. “They eat lunch and maybe dinner here, shop here, get haircuts here, and probably go to the doctor or dentist here.”

A large percentage of employees at other Hoover dealerships, Poole suggested, would also spend a portion of their income at local businesses, creating a significant impact for the city in terms of sales tax.

What really sets automotive dealerships apart, however, is not just

the amount of revenue they generate for the city, but the generous support they provide through community involvement. Whether monetary donations or hands-on service projects, dealers understand that showing up matters, not only for the causes that benefit, but for their dealerships, too.

A 2023 study by Cox Automotive found that 68% of car buyers prefer dealers with a strong local presence, a preference that underscores the value of visibility and a community-integrated business. So not only does community engagement help build trust, loyalty, and relevance, it forges local connections that translate into sales.

Hoover’s three Hendrick dealerships joining in a meal-packing event in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to pack 7,000 pounds of food.

“It’s just a lot of fun to bring our teammates together to celebrate Mr. Hendrick and the servant leader that he is,” said Brian Porta, Hendrick Automotive Group’s Vice President of Education and Training. “We love to give back and be able to serve those in our communities.”

Other local Hendrick-sponsored activities include a “Vettes for Vets” Day at the Talladega Superspeedway, an internship

Hendrick Automotive Group’s Chairman and CEO Rick Hendrick, has long known the value of serving the communities where a nationwide network of Hendrick dealerships are located. Each year, he celebrates his July 12 birthday with a meaningful company tradition: Hendrick Week of Service.

This year, approximately 500 Hendrick teammates from across the nation volunteered at local food banks to pack meals for people facing hunger.

The local contribution to the cause involved over 30 teammates from

program for the Riverchase Career Connection Center, a pet adoption day in partnership with the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, and Christmas gifts for the students at the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.

The entire Long-Lewis Automotive Group marked a historic milestone in 2025 by giving back to some of the local communities that have supported them. Through the Long-Lewis Foundation, the Long-Lewis family of dealerships celebrated the 110th anniversary of the original Long-Lewis Ford by committing $110,000 in donations, equally divided

among 10 local charities across the state.

The winners, chosen from among 20,000 nominations from the public, were American Legion Post 122, Prattville; Chloe’s Fund, The Shoals; Family Sunshine Center, Prattville; Kat Dadde, Inc., Jefferson County; Kitty Haven & Rescue, Hoover; Kruzn for a Cure, The Shoals; Notorious Dog Rescue, Huntsville; Shoals United Stars, The Shoals; UNO’s Home for Wayward Dogs & Cats, Birmingham; and VFW Post 1344, Prattville.

“This was our way of honoring the communities that have been good to us for more than a century,” said Poole. “We appreciated this opportunity to give back.”

The Long-Lewis name goes back to 1897, when Bessemer businessman William J. Long bought out his biggest competitor, Lewis Hardware, and added his name. When Henry Ford granted Long a Ford franchise in 1915, Long changed the name of his business to Long-Lewis Ford and started selling Model ’s.

Like the Long-Lewis and Hendrick groups, other Hoover automotive dealerships also make community involvement a key priority. Whether through donations of money, time, or both, they collectively support hundreds of causes and benefit a countless number of individuals in the process.

A formula for sales success? Certainly. Customers are attracted to businesses that support good causes, especially if the causes align with their own. But, considering that in addition to their many charitable contributions, the local automotive dealerships annually generate millions in tax revenue that help support Hoover’s wide range of city services and operations, their success becomes a winning proposition for everyone.

Pro Golfer and Business Owner Neil Thompson Recreation Member Spotlight

Discover Hoover: How long has Magic City Golf been in business, and what services do you provide?

Neil Thompson: We opened in April 2024. We really focus on three things:

• We teach golf lessons.

• We offer memberships at the facility to give guests a better rate than just dropping in.

• Lastly, guests can use the facility for a range of activities, from hanging out with friends for a casual game of golf, to a party venue, or as a practice place.

DH: What would you say sets Magic City Golf apart from other simulation venues in Alabama?

NT: We have the best golf simulation technology. We are equipped with Swing Catalyst, which provides the latest in golf swing analysis down to the soles of your feet – literally. It is very accurate in providing each player with information for both their club placement and the ball location during each swing. Because of this, many guests choose to practice here instead of on a real course. We also have an indoor putting green with Putt-View® CX2 Custom Series, which super imposes an image over the 21x25 putting green, giving an accurate view of where to hit the club to the ball, and an ideal line super imposed on the green so when you cut it, you know that if it comes off that line you you’ve either pushed or pulled in the wrong direction.

DH: What made you want to open a golf simulator shop in Hoover?

NT: I wanted to open an indoor place to practice because I felt it’s simply the best, most efficient way to practice. I’ve never seen a sport where people are so excited to get to the course or a driving range, and then so demoralized when they leave. If you’re a math person, when out on the green, you can’t see where the ball lands. They want to know where did it go? How did it get there? How far did it go? And then all the range balls aren’t any good because they are all beaten up, not to mention the unpredictable weather in Alabama. It just doesn’t make any sense for all your practice time to be outdoors. Here, a business person can run over during lunch knowing they are in control, practice for an hour, get information to tell how far they’ve hit it and how it got there. They can understand what’s happening, so when they do get to go play a full game at the driving range, they are prepared. We’ve got all this fantastic technology to help with that, so why not embrace it? I trust it for my own game as a pro, so I figured if it’s good for me, it should be good for everyone else.

As a pro golf instructor, the majority of my clients are residents of Hoover, Homewood and Vestavia. I wanted a location that catered to them, and we’re right on the border of those three areas. When this space became available, I knew this was the one!

DH: Can you tell me a bit more about your youth programs?

NT: We have an ongoing Junior Program with four levels they can progress through

as they strengthen their skills and grow. The kids can sign up for one of two monthly class options and come once or twice a week. With classes offered after school at our indoor facility three days a week and at Pine Tree Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, they have five days to choose the option that works best for them and their family. Whenever I run a program, I always consider both the kids and the parents. Our schedule allows them to work with other siblings’ after-school schedules as well. If they miss a week, they can double up another week. Most people like to come on a recurring day, but the whole idea is that you’ve got those options, plus you’ve got the secondary option of coming to the outdoor golf course as well as the indoor general program. After our summer camps, our Junior program probably doubled in size.

In addition to our regular classes, Bent Brook Golf Club in McCalla allows our students to get out there one day a month to play nine holes as part of our Junior program. The family just pays at the golf course to be there, and the other coaches and I are out there watching them play and helping them along the way.

The Magic City Golf Junior Program is a great way for the youngest family members to learn the sport.

Schools Geared Up for Success

How Hoover is Training the Next Generation of Automotive Experts

A new type of school opened its doors in Hoover in August 2019. Nestled in the Riverchase subdivision, the Riverchase Career Connection Center, also known as RC3, serves as a technical and vocational school for students at Hoover and Spain Park High Schools.

Here, education goes beyond Chromebooks and lectures. Students receive hands-on learning in one of seven academies, including Culinary and Hospitality, Cosmetology and Barbering, Cyber Innovation, Fire Science, Health Science, and Skilled Trades (e.g., construction and welding). Plus, as of the 202526 academic year, the all-new, highly anticipated Automotive Academy opened to train students for careers in the highdemand automotive industry.

“We’re extremely excited [about the Automotive Academy],” said Cedric McCarroll, Coordinator for career and technical education. ” A lot of technicians are aging out now, as is the case with a lot of other fields as well. We worked with some of our industry partners to fill a need in this area.” These partners include Toyota, Honda and Mercedes, who provide cars for the students to work on as part of the program. The Hoover Police Department has also contributed several retired fleet vehicles that students enjoy working on.

On campus, the day-to-day instruction of the 43 students

enrolled in the Automotive Academy is led by Ricky Newton and Thaddeus Oliver. Mr. Newton, who retired in 2025 after more than 38 years at Long-Lewis Ford, is the lead instructor. “I am looking forward to helping a new generation of students learn to love the automotive industry,” he said.

Combined with Mr. Oliver’s more than 15 years of experience as a master mechanic with Toyota and Lexus, the duo is well-qualified to train and prepare the next generation of automotive experts. Both men provide top-notch classroom and hands-on instruction, while Mr. Newton also sees to it that the Academy has what it needs to ensure student success.

“This summer, just before the Automotive Academy opened, we had to come up with the financial resources to buy the equipment that Thaddeus and I knew would be best for the students,” he recalled. “We put out phone calls to donors and community partners, and thanks to them, we were able to raise $185,000 to purchase equipment and trainers that would help teach our students and better equip them for the industry.”

Today, with growing student interest, committed industry partners, community supporters and leadership from Mr. Newton and Mr. Oliver, the Automotive Academy is on track to more than double its enrollment in the next two years – which will be a welcome and positive outcome for Hoover’s own automotive industry!

About the School

RC3 is located at the site of the former Pelham Middle School. Renovated in 2017, it serves as a simulated work experience for students in grades 10-12. For example, classes for Health Science students are held in a simulated hospital setting, Culinary and Hospitality in a large, restaurant-style kitchen, and Fire Academy in what could easily pass for a “real-world” fire station, complete with a fully functional fire truck, to name a few.

“A lot of people overthink it, but we are a school,” McCarroll said. “We don’t have bells. The students clock in and out just like they would with a regular job. They either work in the morning or in the afternoon. And if they can’t make it, they call us—not the parents.”

Each RC3 academy offers students the opportunity to earn certification in their field of interest before graduation. Students can carry these skills into higher education, or for those who prefer to delay or not attend college, they use their certifications to enter the workforce upon graduating from high school.

In addition to certifications, the students are well equipped with the professionalism and people skills that are expected in a real job setting. “Soft skills are essential skills,” added McCarroll. “They are just as important, if not more important.”

The Riverchase Career Connection Center is located at 853 Willow Oak Drive in Hoover. For more information about the academies, enrollment, or to get involved as a community partner, call 205-439-1900 or visit hoover10.smartsiteshost.com.

Hoover’s 55+ Communities Draw Interest Among Active Adults

As more residents reach the age of 55, neighborhoods designed specifically for active adults are gaining popularity in Hoover. Hoover’s latest census reveals that approximately 28 percent of Hoover’s 92,500 residents are 55 years or older. This time of life can be a time of shifting seasons - often for lifestyle and living arrangements, too. Older children may move out, leaving the family home feeling too big; or interests change, and it’s time to get to know friends and acquaintances in a similar phase of life. Fortunately, for Hoover residents, there are options right here in the community they call home. Since 2019, four residential developments catering to those aged 55 and above have emerged along Highway 150/John Hawkins Parkway. These communities, including Abingdon by the River, Abingdon at Lake Wilborn, Primrose by Everlee and Arise Knox Square, cater to lifestyle needs and opportunities for

social engagement, while offering residents a blend of comfort, convenience and recreation.

David Banister, a nearly 30-year Hoover resident and longtime volunteer with Hoover Athletics and Neighborhood Bridges, saw and appreciated the vision for a 55+ community from the very beginning. Bannister and his wife, Kelly, moved into Abingdon by the River when it first opened in 2021. The neighborhood is situated in the hills near the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.

“The whole idea of a 55 and over community appealed to my wife and me, even though we’re both just in our late 50s,” Bannister said. “We’re well below the median age, which I think is around 74. But what I really liked is that as you’re preparing to retire, you can buy the last house you’ll ever own and know exactly where you’ll be when you do.”

Built by Signature Homes, Abingdon by the River was one of the first active adult communities in Hoover. It’s a quiet

neighborhood surrounded by trees and walking paths, providing ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Residents also benefit from extensive amenities, including a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball and other sports courts. Bannister noted the sense of community is a major draw, pointing to a daily bike club started by a neighbor as an example.

“When you go into a 55 and over community, you meet people who want to travel, walk, take their time, be involved in activities, and volunteer,” he said.

Bannister believes these communities are attracting more attention because they provide spaces for residents to connect with others on a similar stage of life. Many residents are grandparents, some who have chosen to relocate to Hoover to be closer to grandchildren, and are seeking a permanent home suited to both their current and future needs.

“Hoover’s got great everything, but you don’t have to be from Hoover to thrive in Hoover,” he said.

Abingdon at Lake Wilborn

Completed in 2020, a year before Abingdon by the River, this community of 100 homes is within walking distance of its sister neighborhood. Residents can explore 73 acres of bike trails, parks, lodges, shops and a clubhouse.

Dining

HOME GROWN

Where to eat for every occasion

Over the last decade, the world has taken note of what Southerners have long known to be true: the best food in the country is found well below the Mason-Dixon line.

“The cuisine of the American South is a rich blend of cultural influences, brought to life by skilled chefs who have crafted some of the region’s most iconic dishes,” Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, told CBS 42.

Fall 2025 brought accolades from the culinary group, which noted several Birmingham restaurants for “great food at a great value,” recommended restaurants, and outstanding service.

Home to many James Beard Award nominees and winners,

and making numerous lists of unexpected foodie destinations, the Magic City has made a culinary name for itself. And, just down the road, Hoover is following suit. Hoover’s nearly 93,000 residents can choose from more than 100 locally owned and operated dining destinations ranging from morning coffee and gourmet doughnuts to fresh family takeaway and fine dining prepared by award-winning chefs.

With a restaurant to fit just about every occasion, the Hoover Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize our members who own and operate some of the city’s best eateries. While there are more deserving establishments than can be listed here, residents and visitors can take a peek at the carefully crafted food and beverages available to enjoy right here in Hoover.

For a full list of restaurants and eateries that belong to the Hoover Chamber of Commerce, or for a complete membership directory, turn to pages 47-48.

Community

Grace Klein: Making Lives Better in Alabama’s Best Place to Live

In 2025, U.S. News & World Report ranked Hoover, Alabama, #1 on its list of Best Places to Live in Alabama.

Based on quality of life, value, desirability, the job market and net migration, there is one factor the rankings did not consider: how this community shows up for those in need.

Grace Klein Community, a 501(c)(3) organization born in Hoover, demonstrates how businesses and residents come together to be a village for others.

Founder Jenny Waltman discovered the disparity in her community “on an unassuming Saturday” when attending two children’s birthday parties, back-to-back.

“We attended an upper-middle-class party and a lower-class party,” shared Jenny. “The stark differences in parties opened our eyes to the needs around us. Grace Klein Community was birthed from our blind spot.”

For more than 15 years, the nonprofit has provided basic necessities to

underprivileged and disadvantaged residents, both locally and statewide. And, even globally, with short-term teams regularly serving in India and Africa.

In Alabama, Jenny, staff members, and volunteers provide food, support, and the love of Jesus to nearly 20,000 people each week. This is a critical ministry since, according to Alabama Public Health, the state is the 5th poorest in the nation, and one in four children face food insecurity.

“Many families make difficult decisions every day between rent, utilities, fuel to and from work, medication and food,” said Jenny. “Often, food is the margin people give up or skimp on in their survival efforts.”

Grace Klein fills this gap by offering quality, nourishing food that helps combat illness and build healthy families, including fresh produce and high-protein

options. Jenny says that when food quality decreases, sickness increases, which contributes to time off work, lost wages, blocked job advancements, and further decline into the poverty cycle.

Grace Klein also offers clothing, household supplies, diapers and wipes, and school supplies. During the holidays, families can participate in a sponsorship program that provides Christmas gifts for their children, or at Papa J’s Workshop, where unsponsored families can shop for toys, clothing, food, and essential items, free of charge.

“We were generously provided with toys for our children,” recalled the Garrett family. “The joy on their faces as they unwrapped those gifts was priceless. We also received much-needed household supplies, which made our daily lives easier. The act of kindness…reminded us

of the spirit of giving and community.”

Translated to “little gift from God,”

Grace Klein relies on the generosity of local businesses, churches, service clubs, individuals and grants to make their initiatives possible, including: FeedBHM; GKC Chef Club; GKC Garden Club; the Love Does; a Give and Take Room; a partnership with Bundles of Hope; and seasonal support for the school supply and Christmas programs.

“Whether you are a donor, a volunteer or a recipient of Grace Klein Community, our greatest desire is for each of us to grow in our intimacy with Jesus, see the good in every day, become friends with people who think, look, live and believe differently, and seek to understand one another,” said Jenny. “Together, we can emulate the early church, unite around what matters, and live to love.
