A Year of Impact The BGE Way As part of BGE’s 50th anniversary, we launched the 50 for 50 Community Service Initiative, a commitment to serve 50 organizations in one year. And it’s no surprise that by mid-year, our teams had already surpassed that goal, ultimately partnering with nearly 100 organizations across every region we serve. Throughout the year, Our People showed up for their communities with compassion, creativity, and purpose, volunteering their time, sharing their expertise, and supporting causes that matter deeply to them. From local shelters and food banks to STEM youth programs and neighborhood nonprofits, the impact was felt across dozens of communities we call home. What started as an anniversary initiative became a powerful reminder of who we are. Our core values—integrity, respect, commitment, and excellent reputation—came to life through every act of kindness. Service and community are woven into everything we do. It's The BGE Way. JANUARY ACE MENTOR PROGRAM OF AMERICA, HTX

Michelle McCloskey introduced high school students to the fundamentals of Landscape Architecture through the ACE Mentor Program of America. Students jumped into a hands-on mock project that blended civil engineering, traffic planning, and landscape architecture, asking thoughtful questions and experiencing how these disciplines work together in the real world.
CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK, CTX Our Environmental, Land, and Site teams in Central Texas came together to make a powerful impact at the Central Texas Food Bank. BGE volunteers spent the morning sorting and packing food, assembling 840 boxes for home delivery—the equivalent of 14,210 meals for families in need.
FUTURE CITY REGIONAL COMPETITION, HTX The Future City Regional Competition at NASA brought together some of the brightest young minds, and BGE was proud to be part of it. Lee Lennard, Aaron Orozco, Chris Meinhardt, and Elizabeth Byrd volunteered as judges. Their support helped encourage and inspire the next generation of engineers and problem solvers.

FEBRUARY CARDS FOR HOSPITALIZED KIDS As part of our BGE Day celebrations, and to officially launch our 50 for 50 Community Service Initiative, our BGE offices came together to create handmade cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids, a nonprofit that delivers uplifting messages to children facing serious illnesses and extended hospital stays. It was a meaningful way to begin our anniversary year!

Team members from our Woodlands office, joined by family members, volunteered at the Montgomery County Food Bank. Together, they sorted donated produce in the Food Bank’s Produce Rescue Center, assembling 312 boxes of fresh food, enough to provide 5,000 meals for families in need. With more than 67,000 residents in Montgomery County facing food insecurity, efforts like these play an important role in supporting our community.

30TH ANNUAL BASURA BASH, CTX The Central Texas Public Works team, alongside volunteers from the Texas American Water Works Association (TAWWA) and the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT), helped clean up the Olmos Basin in San Antonio during the 30th Annual Basura Bash—the largest single-day waterway cleanup in Texas!

ASCE VOLLEYBALL FUNDRAISER TOURNAMENT, HTX The ASCE Volleyball Fundraiser Tournament raised $2,100 for Houston Branch scholarships, and BGE was proud to be part of the impact. BGE fielded a powerhouse team with players from Transportation Systems, Land Development, and Public Works. This dream team battled their way to the finals!

APRIL ARDOT WOMEN IN STEM CONFERENCE, NTX BGE proudly sponsored the ArDOT Women in STEM Conference, supporting 9th–12th grade students from across Arkansas who are exploring or participating in STEM programs. Devan Malin and Mackenzie Belote represented BGE, showcasing the exciting career opportunities in construction.

Each year, approximately 22,000 children enter foster care in the Houston area, and Carrying Hope distributes around 3,000 Hope Packs to support them during those first challenging hours of transition. The BGE team created a total of 15 backpacks to provide comfort and essentials to children in their first 48 hours of care.
HARMONY HIGH SCHOOL SHADOW AN ENGINEER DAY, HTX BGE hosted 11 students from Harmony High School for Shadow an Engineer Day at our Westheimer office! Organized by Jennifer McFarland and Johnah Biassou, students heard from teams across multiple departments, gaining insights into real projects, career paths, and what it’s like to work in the engineering and planning fields. WESTCHASE DISTRICT CORPORATE CHALLENGE, HTX Matt Honeycutt, Vincent Pham, Matthew Dean, and Grace Lipetska proudly represented BGE at the Westchase District Corporate Challenge, an annual event that has raised thousands for local charities since 1998, including scholarships that help kids attend summer camps at Camp Quillian. From rock climbing and soccer to football, kickball, and the always-entertaining briefcase relay, the day was packed with energy and friendly competition. BGE took 2nd place in kickball—way to go, team!

LUNCHES OF LOVE, HTX Our Houston Transportation team supported Lunches of Love by collecting food donations and decorating 78 bags with uplifting messages and artwork. Lunches of Love provides nutritious meals to children experiencing food insecurity in the Richmond/Rosenberg area.
PRESBYTERIAN NIGHT SHELTER, NTX Our Fort Worth office had a wonderful time volunteering at the Presbyterian Night Shelter, serving our community one “box of inventory” at a time.

JULY THE BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS, HTX The BGE Air Quality team prepared and served breakfast for 99 residents at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a domestic violence shelter supporting women and their children. This was the shelter’s only hot breakfast of the month, offering a meaningful morning of comfort, care, and community.

Our Frisco office supported the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center this summer by assembling over 300 coping kits for their Back to School Bash. These kits provide comfort to children entering foster care or transitioning out of difficult situations. During the delivery, the team toured the center’s heartfelt Teddy Bear Room, where every child receives a brand-new teddy bear upon arrival—a truly breathtaking experience.

The BGE Survey team volunteered at the West Houston Assistance Ministries’(WHAM) Drive-Thru Food Distribution, helping load produce, frozen foods, non-perishables, diapers, and pet supplies into nearly 200 vehicles. The team also delivered several hundred pounds of donated food collected by BGE employees. WHAM, located just a mile from our Houston office, supports more than 115,000 people each year through essential services.

BGE participated in Commissioner Rodney Ellis’s Bright Futures Fair, where Osvaldo Diaz, Nelly Canales, Heidy Poleo, and Johnah Biassou hosted a hands-on STEM activity for K–8 students. The students had a blast building marshmallow bridges and eating a few along the way! The event was a fun opportunity to give back and inspire future engineers.
CHARLOTTE'S SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (SPCA), SE BGE Charlotte spent a PAWsome day sharing some puppy love! The team volunteered with the Charlotte Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) during their onsite pet adoption event, helping pets find their FURever homes.
COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF SAN ANTONIO (CIS-SA), CTX This summer, our San Antonio office partnered with Communities In Schools San Antonio (CIS-SA) to help students start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed.

From June through July, our team filled an office donation bin to the brim with essential school supplies. On Stuff the Bus Day, volunteers encouraged shoppers at a local H-E-B to give as well, collecting three full pallets of supplies that will support 140 schools across the San Antonio area!

Our Houston PLA team organized a community service activity to support the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC), creating essential kits for women, children, and families affected by domestic and sexual violence. Thanks to the team’s generosity, we assembled 100 hygiene kits and 100 snack kits filled with items like lotion, lip balm, combs, soap, juice, fruit snacks, chips, and cookies.

CANSTRUCTION DALLAS - NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK, NTX Did you know 1 in 6 people in North Texas face hunger? With this year’s theme, May the Fork Be with You, our North Texas team proudly unveiled our Star Wars–inspired creation, The Empire Strikes Hunger, for the 2025 CANstruction Competition.

Thanks to incredible support from colleagues, friends, and the community, BGE raised $6,275 for the North Texas Food Bank, providing 18,825 meals for neighbors in need. Not only did we raise the most funds among all participating teams, but we also brought home the 2025 People’s Choice Award! SOMEBODY CARES - TEXAS HILL COUNTRY FLOOD DONATIONS, HTX The Houston region Land Development team gathered supplies to support those affected by the July 4th Texas Hill Country Flood. The group collected four boxes of trash bags, four boxes of face masks, and $575 in gift cards for victims and volunteers. All items were donated to Somebody Cares, an organization that provides disaster response, compassionate outreach, and leadership development. SEPTEMBER NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS' (NSBE) CAREER FAIR PREPARATORY EVENT, NTX Our Fayetteville office had the honor of co-hosting the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Career Fair Preparatory Event at the University of Arkansas. This workshop equipped students with tools and strategies to excel at the upcoming STEM Career Fair.

After a productive morning of service, the team wrapped up the day with a family picnic at a nearby park, an uplifting way to celebrate community and time together.

AIA SANDCASTLE BEACH COMPETITION AND CLEAN-UP, HTX The BGE team had a blast at the 2025 Galveston Sandcastle Festival, where we made waves with our ice cream–themed sand sculpture. NOVEMBER ADOPT YOUR OUTDOORS, NTX The Fayetteville office is located next to Mud Creek Trail, and through the City’s “Adopt Your Outdoors” program, our team began the process of adopting the trail as part of the 50 for 50 Initiative. The team completed the first of three required cleanups, collecting eight bags of trash along 1.3 miles of trail despite the cold, rainy weather.

The Frisco office supported Grace Bridge this month through a generous food drive to help stock their Thanksgiving food box giveaway. With more than 500 families already signed up, and more requests coming in daily, the need was great, and our team was grateful to lend a hand. Together, we filled 15 small moving boxes, 2 large tote bags, and 6 trays of canned goods—more than 780 items in total!

SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE, HTX For the past several years, BGE has proudly participated in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, one of the organization’s largest and most impactful holiday efforts, reaching millions of children and seniors each year.
