THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SAN FRANCISCO After 18 months of virtual meetings and events, the time we’ve all been anticipating is finally here—our Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s family of supporters is back together in-person for a live event! Our Annual Golf Tournament is something I look forward to each summer. While this event may look a small bit different this year, we are fortunate to have found some creative ways to come together in support of our youth under current public health guidelines. Summer has also presented new opportunities across our organization, as adults and more and more of our youth become vaccinated. Our staff, as always, are determined to bring joy and celebration to kids’ lives during these important months. We are intent to show youth a path forward from the pandemic, filled with great opportunities and experiences that allow for learning and personal growth. The proceeds from this year’s tournament are directed to our Academic Success programs. Your support could not be more timely and more important for supporting youth as, together, we emerge from the pandemic. Over the next year, every program or service that BGCSF offers will be delivered with two stated purposes: mitigating learning loss and strengthening the emotional health and wellbeing of youth. We view this effort to support our youth with a deep sense of responsibility, as we understand the potentially devastating long-term impact of COVID-19. I thank all the members of our Golf Committee (see p. 2) for ensuring another successful fundraising effort, with a special thank you to our Event Chairs: Michael Horwitz & Chris Roeder. Finally, I want to recognize and thank Victor Coleman and Drew Gordon, President and Senior Vice President for Hudson Pacific Properties (HPP) respectively, for HPP’s presenting sponsorship. Today’s tournament is a success thanks to the leadership and support of these committed individuals! I hope you enjoy playing these beautiful courses. WHO WE ARE For 130 years (since 1891), Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has provided high-quality, communitybased youth development services to at-risk youth in San Francisco. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Our Clubs are located in neighborhoods with the fewest resources for youth, and we are open when youth need us the most—after school, on most school holidays, and all day during the summer. We impact the lives of Club members, primarily ages six to 18, by focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and community engagement, and job readiness with earning potential. TOURNAMENT RULES FORMAT AND SCORING • We will be playing winter rules today. There will be a foursome “Two Best Balls” gross and net competition. Players hit their own ball throughout the day. Simply circle the two lowest “gross” scores of the group after each hole. The golf pros will calculate your “net” score. • Before you turn in your scorecard, please add your gross team score and put it in the total column. The golf pros will calculate your net score using “Blind Bogey” scoring. • Prizes will be awarded to the “lowest net” team and to the “lowest gross” team. • A team may only win one prize. • As soon as you complete your round, turn in your scorecard to the pros at their table in the Clubhouse Garden Court so they can calculate winning score. • Special Note: Since there is no individual competition and in order to speed up play, golfers should pick up their ball when they are in more than “triple bogey” territory.
