Monthly giving is one of the most efficient ways to donate. You don’t have to worry about remembering to give every year, and it’s a great way to make a big impact through smaller donations spread out throughout the year. With your help, we can continue our work at BGC all year long.

Right now you can make a difference in our youth programs through a sustainable monthly contribution that will help us provide food and services to youth.

You can sign up online: www.bgckawarthas. com/giving or on the enclosed reply card. Or ask us to help set you up online through Canada Helps: foundation@bgckawarthas.com 705-324-4493 ext 203

YOUTH DROP-IN PROGRAM IN FENELON FALLS LAUNCHES!

The welcome mat is out at new programs in Fenelon Falls and Peterborough, creating new priorities for our Foundation as we support more children, youth and families.

The new BGC Kawarthas Youth Drop-in program in Fenelon Falls is off to an amazing start. The program averages about 15 youth each night with larger numbers at special events. Taking place at the Fenelon Falls United Church twice per week, the program focuses on meals and nutrition, academic support, youth mental health and wellness and creating connections. It’s rewarding to see the youth gathering around the island in the kitchen, preparing food together, and building friendships.

The vision for the Fenelon Falls program has been nurtured and honed by two amazing groups: the Fenelon Youth Impact Council, and Kawartha Works Community Co-Operative (KWCC). The youth council meets monthly and demonstrates a profound understanding of their community’s needs. KWCC has spearheaded support within the community, gathering insights about everything from gaps in community services, to potential locations, to financial supporters.

This program is a true community effort! Financial start-up support has been provided by the City of Kawartha Lakes. Fundraising is now underway to gather support for additional costs and to ensure ongoing sustainability. If you’re interested, please contact the Foundation.

A BECAUSE... OPPORTUNITY

BGC KAWARTHAS IN PETERBOROUGH IS GROWING!

BGC Kawarthas continues to grow programming in Peterborough with the third after school program open now at James Strath Elementary School, also creating additional opportunities for indoor sports programs and summer camp! BGC Kawarthas regularly provides after school care to 90 children in Peterborough with this expansion.

Our Foundation has always been committed to investing in direct subsidies for children, youth and families, while also subsidizing the costs of running programs at the Club. This allows the Club to keep participant fees low (or free in the case of youth programs) while ensuring all programs are of the highest quality. Throughout our history, this has allowed us to open our doors to vulnerable children and youth.

Donations can be designated to specific programs for donors who have a specific desire or affiliation. Thank you for your continued support for the Foundation! As we like to say, Opportunity Changes Everything.

Canadian pride and identity have never been stronger than they are today. Canadians across the country are taking action to buy and support Canadian products and to protect what makes us unique. For many, Canadian culture is one of the things that sets us apart – our songs and stories express what’s distinct about living in this country. Tapping into our love for Canada, we’ll bring the community together to celebrate Canadian music and Indigenous people’s connection to this land. Featured Artists Include: The Strumbellas, Tyler Kyte and Nick Rose (members of Dwayne Gretzky), Russell deCarle of Prairie Oyster, Melissa Payne, Cassie Noble, Cale Crowe, Gamekeeper, Mis-Hap, and House Band: Frazer Turk, D’Arcy Mason, Graeme Morrison, Andy McNeilly. The concert will be in support of BGC Kawarthas Music & Arts Programs. Tickets: $60 @Flato Academy Theatre. Supported By:

The annual Kawartha Lakes Youth Awards was created by the Foundation to highlight deserving youth in our community between the ages of 12 and 24 in 8 categories. Included in our award line up is our Ron Kennedy Scholarship established by our founder’s family and awarded to one nominee, who is transitioning to post-secondary education in the next 12 months. We have the Marcie Beall Scholarship in the 18-24yr category established by the Beall/Lough families in honour of Marcie Beall who worked with BGC in the after school program, Warehouse and Day Care. We have received nominations from a variety of sources throughout the community. Their stories are inspiring! This year we welcome BGC National Youth of the Year, Titobi, who will be out special guest speaker. Nominees, finalists, guests and the public are invited to attend our awards ceremony on June the 12th.
