chairman's report It is with great pleasure that I present this report as Chairman of the Beverley CRC. As we reflect on the past year, I am filled with gratitude for the dedication and hard work of our committee members and staff. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the committee for their unwavering commitment to our CRC. Your attendance at meetings, your willingness to make difficult decisions, and your vigilance in ensuring compliance with departmental requirements are invaluable to our organisation. A special thank you goes to David White for taking on the dual roles of secretary and treasurer. David's meticulous attention to detail and his unwavering commitment to keeping our paperwork up to date are essential to our smooth operation. To our dedicated staff, you are the backbone of our CRC. Your positive approach, your willingness to go the extra mile, and your unwavering commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients are what make our CRC truly outstanding. I would like to extend special recognition to Amor and Sam, who handle the complex administrative and financial tasks that are crucial to our daily operations. Their expertise in departmental requirements, taxation, banking, and other areas ensures that our CRC runs efficiently and effectively. Our staff consists of: Amor – Coordinator Sam – Bookkeeper Jaime – Customer Service and Library Alyssa – Customer Service and Content Creation Angela – Trainee It would be impossible to list all of the events that our staff has organised and carried out over the past year. However, I would like to acknowledge their efforts in providing a variety of engaging and inclusive activities for people of all ages. From Friday Bingo to breath workshops, Storytime in the library, school holiday movies and popcorn, SOCK day, Community Fluoro Friday, and countless other events, our staff has demonstrated their creativity and dedication to creating a vibrant and welcoming community space. Coordinators report Over the past year, the management committee and staff have achieved significant milestones, including successful workshops, events, and initiatives aimed at enhancing services for the local community. Collaborative efforts and a shared vision have been instrumental in these accomplishments. The committee have had a great year, with the life memberships being awarded to the 3 blind mice, John, Glenys and Dee and the farewell morning teas for Val, that we aren't farewelling at all. We have seen our subcommittee, the Beverley Community Garden continue to flourish, and they continue to be self-sufficient financially, Betty and the team should be congratulated for making the vacant space on Forrest Street into a beautiful green place for our community and visitors to enjoy.

VISITOR CENTRE Our Visitor Centre has new shelving, which equals more space for products, which means more sales! We managed to double its sales target, despite having fewer visitors, our dedicated team pulled together to achieve this feat. Samantha has been a driving force in expanding our product range and providing training to our volunteers and staff, and it has definitely paid off, and I would like to commend her on this outstanding achievement.

LIBRARY We have had numerous changes in the library over the last 12 months, with the inter library loans system being scraped, changes to the book exchange system and upcoming software changes. Regardless, of these changes Jaime has done a fantastic job, resulting in our team nominating her for the regional library of excellence awards this year. She has been successful in attaining funding to improve services and literacy programs in our library for our junior residents, with Alyssa recently attaining funding to increase the programs and services delivered through the library.

TRAINEESHIP PROGRAM I have applied for funding from DPIRD for our next trainee, it is pleasing that our traineeship program remains strong, with a high number of applications in 2023. We are pleased to have Angela join our team, and she is thriving in the position. Alyssa traineeship was completed at the end of June, and she is now fulltime at our centre, in a new role as lead creator for a new online marketing service, the Content Creation Studio. She continues to study in a dual diploma of social media marketing (10904NAT) & Certificate IV Entrepreneurship and New Business (BSB40320) at the College of Adult Learning. A couple of the bigger programs we ran over the last year were the 2023 SOCK Week campaign engaged approximately 730 people with the Fluoro Friday Disco, attracting 107 children and over 40 parents.

Content Creation Studio We also embarked on a new service such as, the Content Creation Studio, which is creating static images, reels (video content), and graphic designs that clients can use on their social media platforms and developed a pricing & services guide for new clients. this has been exciting and also scary, as all changes are, but if we are to be catalysts in our network, driving changes, new initiatives and creating employment opportunities, it is necessary for someone to lead the way. I am proud to be able to be part of this project, the enthusiasm and creativity that is in the centre is contiguous, and it's wonderful to see someone so young build a base for a project so big, I am impressed daily. By facilitating grants and programs like these we are building stronger connections with fellow groups in Beverley, not only through support but through collaboration. We have been working with the Early Years Network, Toy library & Storytime, Men's Shed, Station Arts, local police and more. Yes, my team and I are overachievers, this is evident by the department statistics report and the list of the 2022-2023 programs & events provided to you, our members. I thank you our members, our staff and management committee for their ongoing support, I appreciate all the hours our committee give so willing to ensure our community has a CRC and access to products and services that are needed in small rural towns.

Building Community Connections The Beverley CRC is your one-stop shop for reliable information and assistance. Our team is deeply embedded in the community, actively participating in local groups, events, and sports. We distribute a weekly newsletter in both print and digital formats, keeping our community members informed about current news and happenings. Our team actively engages with various stakeholders and community groups in our town, ensuring that we remain connected and responsive to their needs. Beverley is the Wheatbelt's cultural arts hub, with three local artists operating in the main street and an Artist-in-Residence program organized throughout the year by our local arts group, Beverley Station Arts. Our centre collaborates closely with this group, particularly during their events season. Our evolving partnership with Beverley Station Arts encompasses services such as event ticket sales, website development and maintenance, training, design, online posting, printing, governance, association support, and funding assistance. The shows and events attract visitors to our town, showcasing the quality of our venues and contributing to economic growth. Additionally, many locals enjoy the opportunity to see professional entertainers perform in their own community. This year, we have forged numerous partnerships throughout the community, continuing the mental wellness initiative that we established in 2022, with the funding assistance of Holyoake and the Wheatbelt Suicide Prevention Program. Jaime spearheaded this program, collaborating with the Local Health Advisory Group (LHAG) to integrate the program into their working plan. In 2023, we developed, The Hidden Narrative, anonymous stories submitted by community members, read by our staff and posted to our social media platforms. Through these videos, we were able to give voices to those untold stories of those touched by depression. The initiative was developed so people can start to relate, connect and recognise that they are not alone, and that knowing and gearing that others struggle, and support is available. Our centre strives to accommodate all generations, with our management committee in the midst of starting the Staying in Place, an aged care program that provide employment opportunities and allows for our senior residents to access assistance and support. At the other end of the spectrum, we have incorporated the Junior Book Club, Kids Art & Craft Club, STEM workshops, School Holiday Activities program and our collaboration with the Early Years Network allows us to run programs with them such as: Beverley Toy Library, Storytime, and Kids Alive Do the 5. Our staff has actively participated in various workshops and conferences to improve the skills the Wheatbelt Business Network (WBN), and Linkwest. These networking opportunities help strengthen and solidify long-standing relationships. The Beverley Community Garden has experienced an abundance of produce, with many residents and visitors enjoying fresh baskets of homegrown vegetables. The garden's flourishing state is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our sub committee's volunteers, that meet twice a week to maintain the garden, sell excess produce, and share plants with the community, often ending their sessions with a cuppa and a catch-up. This beautiful space brings opportunities for residents to be active and connect with others.

The value of volunteers

Our centre truly values the contribution that volunteers offer, whether it's giving helping hand by opening the Visitor Centre on weekends to greet tourists or by bringing skills and knowledge on our management committee. Beverley, like many other rural communities, depend on the support of volunteers. We have multiple groups of volunteers at our centre from our overarching management committee (6), Visitor Centre volunteers (10), Triathlon sub committee (5) and event volunteers(50+), bingo callers (2) and workshop volunteers (8) and the community garden sub committee (6) and their volunteer group (20+) to our list. Last year we had our first life membership awarded to CRC volunteer Rodney Boyle, for his customer service & administration role for over 12 years. This year 3 more life memberships were awarded to John Fregon, Glenys Lane and Dee Ridgway for their ongoing support and years of volunteering at the CRC on the management committee. We value all of our CRC volunteers and the community volunteers and to thank them for their time and support with the projects and events that have such a positive impact on our community.

treasurers report This year has seen a return to something resembling normal. Grants from the Department have seen a slight increase but these unfortunately do not match inflation. As a result, the CRC continues to explore ways by which we might generate further income from business initiatives while still delivering services to the community. From a financial perspective, we have concluded a satisfactory year insofar as we returned a small profit of $13,908. Our Nett Assets totalled $131,501 of which our cash balance totalled $150,251. It is pleasing that the Financial Statements tabled this year have been audited. We worked closely with the Auditors this year to ensure the audit was completed by mid-October and we will continue with this timetable into the future. A pleasing part of our operations is the willingness of management to continually look to engage trainees. The record of our trainees is impressive and to be able to equip young people with skills to enable them to gain employment, provides just one part of the community work of the Beverley Community Resource Centre. I want to thank all our staff for their work and dedication throughout the year, the assistance to me in my roles and particularly to Sam. In short, it has been a successful year and we look forward to another one in 2024.
