Nadat Senekal die loting gewen het en Witteberg ingestuur het om te kolf het dit behoorlik lopies gereën. Leozé Lottering het vir die 3de keer in 4 wedstryde haar halfeeu met die kolf aangeteken met 58 lopies van 49 balle. Sy is goed bygestaan deur Ivé van der Westhuizen waar hulle 'n 78 lopie vennootskap op die telbord gebring het.

Boere gevra om provinsiale paaie op eie koste te herstel VRYSTAAT | VRYSTAAT LANDBOU MEDIAVRYSTELLING Met Vrystaatse paaie wat al hoe meer onrybaar raak, het padherstelwerk en instandhouding in die Vrystaat amper tot stilstand gekom. Volgens Francois Wilken, president van Vrystaat Landbou (VL), het die organisasie herhaaldelik versoeke aan die Vrystaatse provinsiale regering gerig om aandag aan die groeiende krisis te gee. Die Minister van Vervoer, Fikile Mbalula, het vandeesweek aangekondig dat fondse vir padinstandhouding opgedroog het. Hierdie begrotingsbeperkings is tydens 'n vergadering van die Vrystaatse LUR van Polisie, paaie en vervoer bevestig. “VL is gevra om die departement by te staan om die paaie reg te maak, maar dat die departement nie boere vir hul uitgawes kan vergoed nie”. Boere betaal skraperoperateurs sodat gruispaaie geskraap kan word en gebruik eie arbeid en hulpbronne om slaggate te vul! “Dit beteken dat die regering nie aan hul dienslewering verantwoordelikhede kan voldoen nie, terwyl burokrate in die topswaar Vrystaatse provinsiale paaie departement steeds hul salarisse sal ontvang,” het Wilken gesê. “Op hierdie stadium is daar werklike moontlikheid dat die Vrystaatse plaaslike en provinsiale padnetwerk binne die volgende paar jaar ineen kan stort. Aangeheg is ons seuns en dogters wat eerste plekke behaal en spog ons met 12 nuwe rekords wat verbeter is. Baie geluk aan die atlete. Dit lyk of hulle die kuns vervolmaak het om ten spyte van kleiner behoeftes, en minder goeters, 'n vrede het wat baie ander nie het nie , en dat hulle lewenskwaliteit het wat baie ander mense begeer. Hulle kry hulle rykdom in ander goed, en hulle is op die einde skatryk. So sien ek aan die ander kant hoe mense met baie besittings, in ongekende vrees leef dat hulle dit dalk kan verloor! Dit verstom my dat baie mense al hoe ongelukkiger word hoe meer hulle het. Hoekom is dit so? Wat is ons bereid om te "betaal" vir hierdie dinge wat baie geld kos maar geen waarde het nie? En kyk wat doen ons nog: ons dryf ons kinders om die hoogste sporte te bereik en moedig hulle aan om te leef en werk vir baie geld, maar ons leer hulle nie hoe om dit te hanteer as hulle dit dalk sal verloor nie. Hoe verskriklik is dit nie as jy jou dag tog dag bestaan haat ter wille van goedere wat in 'n oogwink kan verdwyn, en wat jy nie tyd het om te geniet nie. Mense wat nie materiële goed najaag nie, vind hulle vreugde in LEWE, in tyd vir hulle geliefdes, tyd om WARE kwaliteit tyd met hulle kinders deur te bring en ja, ook tyd vir hulleself. Dear Reader, It's an honour to write my first editorial as the newly appointed Group editor of Rekord Media. I'm looking forward to the challenge and I understand the responsibility that comes with this position. Knowing that more than 70% of our overall reader base is Afrikaans speaking, made me wonder if I'm the right person for this position. I can hardly speak Afrikaans. I learned it is respectful to call any one older than you "oom en tannie" and that "pampoenkoekies baie lekker is". I had my first "melktert" at Rekord and enjoyed "biltongsop" at a beautiful place called Constantia Padstal. Was I having an identity crisis? Was my appointment based on the colour of my skin? I got my answer from a fellow staff member, Nthabiseng Mohlokoana who has been at Rekord for almost 5 years already. "Rekord is not about race, it's about the community and understanding that we need to serve the community". And that made me realise that we serve you, the reader. We need to inform you. What Rekord reports on, affects the community. From a farmer who achieved a new rekord at an auction,
to the dog that has been poisoned, to the streetlight that does not work. It affects all of us. As long as we report the truth and put the community first, this newspaper will continue to grow and form part of the community for years to come. Irrespective of who the editor is. I'm honoured to be surrounded by a strong editorial team that believes in the vision and mission of Rekord. No one knows what the future holds, Covid has taught us that, but this is a very important year for Rekord. Besides retaining and growing market share, our 65 local digital community newspapers continue to face competition from the printed and digital media platforms. Something that will not change is it being free of charge. We have to adapt to evolving changes and for this reason our website is currently being revamped and plans are in motion to launch an app in the near future. We hope to move into our new offices, open a training centre and launch our digital radio station Rekord FM. For me, 2022 is a year of belief. Believing that what will be will be and trusting the Lord to continue to guide and lead us. In God we trust. Have a great week.

4 eggs 1 ½ cup sugar ½ cup milk ½ cup water 100ml oil 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups cake flour 10ml baking powder 2 teaspoons cinnamon Extra cinnamon to sprinkle between layers
METHOD FILLING: Heat the litre of milk, butter and sugar in the microwave for 3 minutes until the sugar has dissolved. Mix the eggs and flour with the extra ½ cup of milk. Add the mixture to the boiling milk. Put back in the microwave for 1 minute and give it a stir with a whisk. Repeat this step 4-5 times until the mixture is thick. Add the vanilla. Cover with cling wrap and let it cool. .
CAKE: Pre-heat the oven to 180°C. Prepare 2 x 20cm cake tins by greasing them and lining them with baking paper. Beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Heat the oil, water and milk until boiling. Add the vanilla. Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon together. Fold the dry ingredients into the fluffy egg
mixture. Add the hot milk, fold in until it forms a silky-smooth mixture. Divide the mixture between the 2 cake tins. Bake for 30 minutes. Let them cool for 10 minutes before removing from the tins. Divide each layer into two. Fill each layer with the custard and sprinkle cinnamon between the layers

around 19 cm. The male has glossy green upperparts and head, with a copper sheen on its back. The underparts are a dirty white, in colour. A broken white eye stripe, a red eye and dark bill. This cuckoo has white wing spots and green bars on its flanks. The female diderick cuckoo has similar colouring as the male, but shows coppery barring on the flanks. The diderick cuckoo feeds mainly on caterpillars, but will feed on other insects. The diderick cuckoo is a brood parasite and parasites closed grass nests. The female lays either one or two eggs in the host nest and will remove the host egg before laying her own. The diderick’s eggs are larger than the host eggs, but it will match the shape and colour of the host eggs. The diderick cuckoo will parasite a wide range of species, especially bishops, sparrows and weavers... The diderick cuckoo can be found throughout South Africa, except the very arid Karoo region.
