Residents of Dihlabeng, especially those in Bethlehem can expect their taps to be empty soon. This is after an urgent notice published by the municipality. In the notice, Mr Tshediso Maitse, a spokesperson for Dihlabeng wrote: “We are urgently requesting that all members of the community continue using water more sparingly. The Municipality’s Water Supply is under severe pressure due to the ongoing electricity loadshedding being implemented by Eskom. The situation has worsened to a point whereby the Municipality is losing more than 12 hours of pumping water to the reservoirs. The reservoir levels have dropped to below ten (10%) percent due to the pumping

disruptions.” In the statement, it was announced that they were left with no other choice but to impose strict water restrictions as of Thursday 08 December 2022. According to them, this will continue until the situation has stabilised. They imposed that water will be closed during the day from 10:00 to 06:00 in the morning. They also requested residents to please avoid using, sprinklers, and hosepipes, filling up swimming pools or any form of large water consumption activities. The statement was ended by apologizing to the residents for any inconvenience caused by this drastic implementation of water restrictions within Dihlabeng.
