BETHLEHEM: ‘n Besoek aan die dokter is nou maar eenmaal iets wat die mensdom probeer vermy of iets wat baie vir so lank as moontlik probeer uitstel, maar dit is nie die geval met die patiënte van Dr. Piet de Bruyn nie. Hy is alombekend en geliefd in die Bethlehem gemeenskap. Die skielike aankondiging van sy dood het baie in hartseer gedompel. Dié aankondiging is op Dinsdag 23 November 2021 gemaak dat Dr. Piet oorlede is.

“Hy moes 'n hartomleiding kry maar sy hart was glo te swak en hy is onder operasie oorlede, luidens ‘n WhatsApp groep waar sy dood met hartseer ontvang is.” Hy word deur sy vrou, Hester, en kinders, Lu-Mari en Johann Steyn, en kleinkinders oorleef. Die boodskappe van medelye op sosiale media kort en kragtig, maar daar was meer as honderd op net een groep. Dit is duidelik da thy baie gemis sal word in Bethlehem.

RESIDENTS WARNED ABOUT LATEST ‘MUNICIPAL’ SCAM DIHLABENG: In an urgent media statement released by the Dihlabeng Local Municipality, residents were warned against a recent scam that emerged among numerous residents of Bethlehem and other towns in Dihlabeng. In the media statement, the municipality wrote: “We request the community of Dihlabeng to be aware of the people who claim to be from the municipality's Collections Unit and demand cash from residents whose accounts are in arrears. They will then claim that your address appears on the Cut-Off list, so for

your name to be removed, you must pay them a certain amount of money.” Furthermore, residents were informed that the suspects go by the names ‘Oupa’ and ‘Benjamin’, but they could change these names now that their activity has been noted by authorities. They have used the following numbers: 076 063 1838 and 066 022 2355. Police said that these could also already have been changed. They have given banking details of a Capital account, which according to the bank is opened in the name of ‘Mafate Khomotso’. It could not

have been confirmed with local police how many residents has already been scammed and for how much cash. A spokesperson of the municipality however said: “We appeal to members of the community to alert the SAPS and the municipality so that these scammers can be apprehended. Should you be contacted by any of these individuals or suspect that you are being scammed by someone, contact: Mr Samuel Maseou, the Manager Electricity on 078 740 1139.

from Bethlehem Voortrekker made it through to the Top 100. The second phase consisted of creating a 45second video highlighting a campaign/initiative on the importance of sustainable packaging, where she made it through to the Top 50.

BETHLEHEM: Die volgende leerlinge van Bethlehem Voortrekker Hoërskool en lede van die Bethseals-swemklub het onlangs aan die Capital K Oopwater swemkompetisie deelgeneem. Èbet Bester het 3 km geswem in 53 min 43 sek. Carmi Dowling het 1 km geswem in 21 min 13 sek. Kennith Outram het 3 km

geswem in 55 min 52 sekondes asook 2 x 1 km in 17 min 41 sekondes en 18 min 35 sekondes onderskeidelik. Kennith het 5 km in totaal geswem ter voorbereiding van die 8 myl wat hy gaan swem by die Midmardam in Februarie 2022. “Wel gedaan julle, Voortrekker is baie trots op julle!”

It was tough on the route on the final day of the Motul Roof of Africa, by ZCMC

MOTUL ROOF OF AFRICA Wade Young (Sherco Factory Racing powered by Motul) made it 4 in a row and his sixth Roof win overall, by winning the 53rd edition of the Motul Roof of Africa in a wet and windy Lesotho on Saturday. Young was followed home by the Gas Gas duo of Travis Teasedale (Trax TT Racing) who ended up just over 28mins behind the leader with Matthew Green (TT Racing) a further 44mins behind Teasdale.
