The Carlisle Kiwanis Club “celebrated” it’s one-hundred-year anniversary in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were unable to complete a project to commemorate this important milestone in the club’s history. Now that restrictions have been lifted, we think there is no better way to celebrate our 100th anniversary than to give back to our community in a meaningful and impactful way – rebuilding the playground at LeTort Park in Carlisle. The original and existing playground structure was built in 1993 as a community build project and was lovingly named Fort LeTort. After 29 years of use, the playground has begun to show its age. When our club researched community projects to commemorate our 100th Anniversary, Carlisle’s Parks & Recreation Department recommended looking at improving Fort Letort. In 2019, we paid for a professional survey of Fort LeTort, and it was recommended that the entire structure be replaced. Working closely with the Parks & Recreation Department it has been decided that several state-of-the-art improvements need to be made to Fort Letort to make it safer and more accessible for the children of the community. A Carlisle, PA playground builder, Ely and Associates, was selected to design and complete the replacement. It will be necessary to raise $750,000 to replace the playground at LeTort Park. The Carlisle Kiwanis Club is leading the fundraising efforts for this project and needs the help of the Carlisle community to ensure the success of this project. We are reaching out to individual donors, business sponsorships, private grant donors, and local non-profits to support this campaign. Our need is now and our club members are grateful for your support, but it's the children of Carlisle who will truly benefit from this project. All donations must be received by August 1, 2022
