Your passion for our participants and programs, and your willingness to adapt to new platforms and protocols to ensure everyone’s safety, mean the world to us. This past year your generosity supported 778 participants with and without disabilities across O’ahu and Maui, and it helped create engaging activities that were both educational and fun. Most importantly, you embraced #BBHIStayConnected and ensured that all of our participants were looked after and included in the larger community, even in this time of social distancing requirements.

The Value of Your Donation Supports Best Buddies helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) form meaningful friendships, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communications skills, all while feeling valued by society.
$5,000 • A middle school, high school, or college Chapter for a year $2,500 • The cost to send two buddies to the annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Bloomington, IN (Registration and airfare) $1,000 • A one-to-one Citizens (adult friendship) match $500 • Bus to transport a students to the Friendship Walk or on a Best Buddies field trip • Registration for a buddy to attend the Leadership Conference $350 • Citizens/Ambassador bowling party • The cost of buying t-shirts for a school chapter $250 • The cost of a pizza party for a school chapter • The cost of swag bags for students attending Leadership Conference
2018 Champion of the Year
Kelly Hu Actress and advocate Kelly Hu was Best Buddies in Hawaii’s first Champion of the Year in 2018. The event took a hiatus in 2019, and Kelly has returned this year to see if she can keep her crown. Kelly has been a part of the Best Buddies ‘ohana since 2003 and has participated in events all over the country. Though she currently lives in Los Angeles, Kelly grew up on O’ahu and she continues to support the community with her outreach. Kelly has a long and storied career which began when she won the Miss Hawaii Teen USA pageant, then went on to win Miss Teen USA and Miss Hawaii USA. She is an accomplished actress and voice actor, and she also serves as an advocate for
