Growing attention

The situation has now escalated to the press.

A local media outlet has contacted the organisation directly and intends to publish a story later today, referencing the concerns raised and the ongoing social media activity.

They have requested a formal response from the organisation within the next hour. If you do not respond, they will publish anyway.

The social media discussion continues to intensify, with further criticism of leadership and increasing calls for accountability.

Some comments are now directly questioning whether the organisation is acting in line with its stated values.

Staff are aware of the media interest and there is growing uncertainty internally about how the situation is being handled.

You may not have all the information you would want – a decision is still required.

Initial reaction

You may want to consider:

• What is your decision now? Why?

• What is your official response or position? Why?

• How do your values shape what you say publicly? In what way/s?

• What risks are you accepting or managing through this response? Why?

• How will you support staff while this is unfolding? When?
