L7 VC #4 resource 2 - Public attention

Growing attention

The situation has escalated rapidly.

A widely shared social media post now includes direct allegations that the organisation’s recent decision is unfair and not aligned with its stated values. Several comments are explicitly critical of the Headteacher, with accusations of poor judgement and inconsistent decision-making.

There are increasing demands for accountability, with calls for action to be taken against those involved.

A group of parents/carers/guardians are now threatening to escalate the issue to external bodies and the local press if there is no immediate response. Staff are aware and concern is growing internally.

Initial reaction

You may want to consider:

• What is your immediate response/‘gut reaction’?

• What are you prioritising right now and why?

• How do your values shape your response under this level of pressure?

• What will you communicate and what will you not say at this stage? How?

• Who might need to be involved or informed immediately? How?
