Our story

Beslag Design was founded in 1972 on Köpmansgatan in Båstad by entrepreneur Stig Bergström. What began as a one-man operation in a garage has grown into one of the leading players in fittings and interior products. Over the years, Stig’s sons, Björn and Hans Bergström, have further developed the company, continuing to build on the solid foundation their father established.

In 2024, a new chapter in Beslag Design’s history began as we became part of the Volati group through integration into Salix Hem & Beslag. Despite being part of a larger listed organisation, our core remains unchanged. We safeguard our unique identity and continue to nurture the close relationships that have shaped our journey.

With a history spanning decades, Beslag Design remains synonymous with innovation, quality, and design. We look forward to continuing our journey and welcoming more people to discover how details make the whole.

All Base products have an adhesive backing with 3M tape that makes it easy to mount and no drilling required.

Attached to permanent smooth surfaces such as tiles, lacquered or veneered board material etc. It is not advisable to attach the products to uneven/rough surfaces where the tape does not get full contact or surfaces that can slide as for example the wet room wallpaper. On newly tiled walls, it is important that the surface is cleaned thoroughly so that no joint film remains on the mounting surface.

Mounting instructions

1. Clean the substrate thoroughly and allow it to dry. (The detergents shall not contain oil).

2. Remove the protective film.

3. Apply the product by pressing it against the substrate for 10 seconds.

All our handles and knobs should naturally be wiped clean when dirty. Please note that the handles should only be cleaned using a clean, slightly damp cloth. Do not use any cleaning agents, as these may affect the surface finish.

Wood

Leather is a living material and, when cared for correctly, it will only become more beautiful over time.

1. Use a damp, well-wrung cloth when cleaning the leather.

2. After wiping the leather product, it is important to allow the leather to dry thoroughly before applying any type of protection treatment (recommended: Leather Master Protection Cream).

Please note:

1. Exposure to direct sunlight may fade dark colours and darken lighter shades.

2. Warm, dry air can dry out the leather if it is not treated regularly.

3. Certain cleaning agents and chemicals may discolour and damage the leather surface.

4. Using excessive amounts of water on the leather may alter its colour.

Wood is a natural material and may be affected by heavy strain, for example when mounted on integrated refrigerators/freezers or dishwashers, which may impact its durability. Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid strong cleaning agents or abrasive products.

Protect the wood from prolonged exposure to moisture and direct sunlight. If needed, the surface can be maintained with a small amount of wood oil or wax to preserve its appearance and longevity.

What can cause rust and stains?

Stainless steel may become discoloured in aggressive environments, with rough surface finishes, unsuitable constructions, contact with iron particles, or installation together with regular steel.

Removal of stains

For more stubborn discolouration: clean using alcohol, solvents, a mild abrasive, phosphoric acid solution, or scotchbrite in the direction of the surface grain, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Unlacquered Brass

Unlacquered brass ages and develops a beautiful natural patina over time. Our products in unlacquered brass have no protective lacquer, allowing the brass surface to react with oxygen and gradually patinate. Unlacquered brass is an honest, living, and evolving material with a surface that naturally darkens and develops marks over time in a unique and beautiful way.

Please note that products in brushed unlacquered brass tend to darken and develop patina more quickly than those in polished unlacquered brass. If you wish to lighten the surface or remove stains, the products can easily be polished with a suitable metal polish.
