Founded in 1893 by Swiss inventor Karl Friedrich Gegauf, the BERNINA company has won a reputation for top-of-the-line sewing machines. The jubilee publication "the red thread in the world of sewing" has been published in 2007, celebrating the launch of the BERNINA 105 sewing machine model in 1932 and the 75th anniversary of the BERNINA brand.
