If you would like to meet Beethoven, call the shelter today! 413-447-7878 Ext. 126 Pet of the Week!
BEETHOVEN
This debonair 6-year-old gentleman is Beethoven, and similar to his namesake, he’s quite the musical guy! He loves to sing and can be a little loud in his vocal expressions, so a house setting would be best for his new home. That said, Beethoven sings mostly because he wants to be with his people and doesn’t want to be left behind. He’s by no means destructive; he’s fully house-trained and eventually settles down to take a nap. He enjoys his stuffed Kongs and other occupiers to take his mind off how he’d much rather be out having adventures with his humans. Beethoven loves to go out on walks, cavort around in the shelter pen, and would make a wonderful hiking buddy. He has a high prey drive, so he would do best in a home with no other animals. Beethoven is a solid guy, both physically and emotionally, and could stand to lose a few pounds to take some pressure off of his joints. He has lived with children before so he could potentially live with kids aged 10+ again. Could Beethoven be the perfect new furry family member for you? He’s been patiently waiting since March 26th for his new home. Please reach out to the Berkshire Humane Society Kennel staff to learn more about Beethoven and potentially take him home!

Best Berkshire restaurants for out-of-town guests
BY CARLI SCOLFORO >> BerkshiresWeek
When the warmer months roll in, so do out-of-town guests in the Berkshires. Whether you’re entertaining a large group for the holiday weekend or looking to get everyone out of the house, lured with the best coffee in town, these are our picks of places to herd your house guests.
the barn kitchen & bar
From breakfast through dinner, The Barn is a great bet for any meal when spending the day in North County. This chic space also hosts music from jazz to blues and more indoors and in good weather on a delightful outdoor patio. If you’ve got a big group that enjoys cozy seating and varied, farm-to-table emphasized fare, you can make reservations online for a party of up to 20 people.
The Barn Kitchen & Bar 103 Spring St., Williamstown
ombra
Is your crew coming into town for the weekend? For Tanglewood? Are you sick of hearing New Yorker’s cries on how early everything closes in the Berkshires? Ombra is your best bet for a post-show cocktail or delicious, shareable late night eats. You can sit in their cozy bar space until 1 a.m., and their kitchen stays open all the way to midnight. Ombra, 27 Housatonic St., Lenox
frankie’s
The big tables at Frankie’s, and your ability to request an evening’s buyout of the entire restaurant for a private event make this Italian eatery a best bet in Lenox to entertain when the (entire) extended family rolls into town. Frankie’s takes reservations. They also have a bit of outdoor seating for smaller groups during the summer.
Frankie’s, 80 Main St., Lenox
STEPHANIE ZOLLSHAN — THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE
proprietor’s lodge
Proprietor’s Lodge is our go-to if you’d like to show folks one of the best views Pittsfield has to offer. Sit outside on a warm day, or inside near their large windows to enjoy the picture-perfect view of Mount Greylock and Pontoosuc Lake. Enjoy one of their signature martinis and seafood selections, plus the occasional live musician. Looking for a bottomless brunch? They host a buffet-style brunch every Sunday with a fixed price (including a deal for the kids).
Proprietor’s Lodge, 22 Waubeek Road, Pittsfield
BEN GARVER — THE BERKSHIRE EAGLE
mazzeo’s ristorante
If you’re looking for great food and gigantic portions, but are wary of keeping a group of kids content, Mazzeo’s has you taken care of. Their Kids Menu has your classic chicken tenders and fries, but also has smaller portions of their delicious Italian fare for the more adventurous eaters, and most importantly, their meals come with an ice cream sundae. There’s no bad choice on their menu for the grown-ups, either, but their parmigiana (of the chicken, eggplant, and veal variety) is a well-known crowd-pleaser. Mazzeo’s Ristorante, 1015 South St., Pittsfield
no. six depot roastery & cafe
A coffee snob simply cannot visit the Berkshires without being escorted to Stockbridge’s No. Six Depot. It’s a great place to suggest when you want your guests to do “breakfast on own.” Besides their quirky decor, you can tour the roastery where they prepare some of the best local beans in the county. Take a gander through their art gallery while you enjoy a coffee and a pastry. Your guests can even take a piece of the Berkshires home by buying a bag of their beans; we recommend brewing your at-home espresso with their Berkshire Sky blend, no milk necessary. No. Six Depot Roastery & Cafe 6 Depot St., West Stockbridge
