The Pittsfield Parade Committee is proud to present the 2026 Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade, “America 250 – Pittsfield Celebrates the Generations.”
This year’s theme recognizes the people, places, and stories that have shaped our nation and our community over the past 250 years. As America celebrates its Semiquincentennial, we invite everyone to reflect on the generations who came before us, those who serve our community today, and the generations who will carry Pittsfield forward into the future.
As is our tradition, we begin today’s parade by honoring our veterans and active-duty military personnel. We salute and thank all who have served our country, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we celebrate today. We welcome everyone to Downtown Pittsfield, where families, friends, and visitors gather for Berkshire County’s largest annual event. Grab a seat along the parade route and enjoy this long-standing community tradition featuring veterans, our Grand Marshal Vincent “Vin” Marinaro, elected officials, giant balloons, marching bands, floats, community organizations, specialty units, and much more.
A special salute goes to our 2026 Grand Marshal, Vincent “Vin” Marinaro. Throughout his life, Vin has dedicated himself to serving others through education, youth development, senior services, and countless volunteer efforts that have strengthened our community. His commitment to Pittsfield and its residents makes him a fitting choice to lead this year’s celebration.
The Pittsfield Parade Committee is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization. We extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, public safety personnel, participants, and spectators. Your support helps ensure that this treasured tradition continues for future generations.

As we celebrate “America 250 – Pittsfield Celebrates the Generations,” the Pittsfield Parade Committee is proud to honor Vin Marinaro as our 2026 Grand Marshal.
A lifelong Pittsfield resident, Vin has dedicated his life to serving others and strengthening the community he calls home. For decades, he has been a mentor, educator, coach, advocate, and leader, leaving a lasting impact on generations of Pittsfield families.
Vin began his career in education, teaching in Pittsfield’s Catholic schools, coaching youth sports, and managing the Catholic Youth Center, where he helped shape the lives of countless young people. He later brought that same passion for service to the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, serving as Executive Director from 2010 until his retirement in 2018. Under his leadership, the center expanded programs, strengthened community connections, and became an even more vibrant gathering place for older adults.
His commitment to service did not stop there. A devoted member of the Rotary Club of Pittsfield since 1995, Vin has exemplified Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. In 2024, he was installed as District Governor for Rotary District 7890, representing clubs throughout Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. Along the way, he has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Gerard D. Downing Service to Children Award and a designation as a Paul Harris Fellow.
This year’s Parade theme celebrates the people who connect generations and help build the future while honoring the past. Vin Marinaro embodies that spirit. Through his work with youth, seniors, and civic organizations, he has touched lives across every generation, creating a legacy of compassion, leadership, and community pride.

It is my honor to welcome you all to the Fourth of July Parade in our beautiful City of Pittsfield! Today, we will witness thrilling performances from both local and national organizations, experience the sounds of world-renowned bands, and celebrate the veterans and community groups who dedicate so much to our community as part of our Independence Day celebration.
This parade is not possible without the volunteers of the Pittsfield Parade Committee, who dedicate their time, talent and skills to planning, organizing and raising the necessary funding for the floats, balloons, bands and special guests. If you see a member of the Parade Committee along the route today, please thank them for their endurance and enthusiasm in hosting this special celebration.
Today’s Grand Marshal, Vincent Marinaro, is recognized for his dedicated years of service to Pittsfield and the community at-large. Mr. Marinaro has served the youngest of learners through his work in education and as director of the Catholic Youth Center. He has also worked with our elderly community members during his time as the director of the Pittsfield Senior Center. Mr. Marinaro has dedicated countless hours of volunteer work to the Rotary Club of Pittsfield where he has been recognized with several distinct honors and awards.
Join me in thanking Mr. Marinaro for his commitment, dedication and selfless service to Pittsfield.
The Fourth of July parade has become an annual tradition that is cherished by many community members and visitors alike. 2026 marks a special moment in the history of this nation as we celebrate 250 years of the United States of America. The theme of this year’s parade focuses on the people, places and stories that have been shared during those years that have helped make this community what it is today. I hope you spend the day celebrating the deep connections we share, reflect on the hopes we have for the future, and commit to the work that will propel our community forward.

The Pittsfield Police Department Honor Guard is a dedicated team honoring fallen heroes, veterans, and the community, symbolizing respect, patriotism, and commitment to service. We salute their unwavering dedication to Pittsfield!
Leading the 2026 Pittsfield 4th of July Parade is “Betty” the 1926 Buick piloted by Wild Bill Knowles of Dalton and his Co Pilot, his mother Janie Ray. In the rear seat is Brenda Danforth and Philip Shallies. Wild Bill decided Betty was the best fit from his collection for this year’s theme. Betty has been a Berkshire resident for 100 years. She has never been restored. The paint, interior, and engine are all original. She was purchased in 1926 from Berkshire Auto Company on South Street in Pittsfield, and she spent the first part of her life in Great Barrington, then moved to Richmond in 1963. She moved again to Pittsfield in 1970, and since 2020, she resides in Dalton.

This patriotic American Eagle soars through downtown, signaling the start of the 2026 Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade and kicking off our celebration of America 250 – Pittsfield Celebrates the Generations. Carried proudly by the team from Route 8 Pub, this majestic balloon serves as a symbol of freedom, strength, and the enduring spirit that unites our community as we honor our nation’s past and look ahead to its future.
From the early 1800s through the 1970s, Berkshire County was home to hundreds of various bands, including many American Fife & Drum Corps. We’ve resurrected and combined ALL of them to make one group: The Berkshire Fife & Drum Corps.
The BFD performs all over New England including local appearances and many popular musters. Education is at the heart of the organization, as seasoned professionals teach fife, snare and bass drum for free.
Join us in recognizing Berkshire Veterans Coalition’s “Veteran of the Year”.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 448 truck and marchers will display a full-size replica of their Iraq/Afghanistan War Memorial located at Veterans Memorial Park on South Street in Pittsfield. Their Honor Guard has performed 360 military funerals since 2003 and actively supports the community through veteran visits and the Voice of Democracy Essay Contest which offers scholarships to local high school students.
This Chapter has been in business supporting and helping veterans and their families since 1982. Presently, the Chapter has over 100 members.
The Marine Corps League Pittsfield Detachment 137 brings with them a 1947 Willys Jeep, owned, restored, and driven by Robert Garrity and his son William. Joining them is a red Volkswagen convertible and members of the Marine Corps Honor Guard.
The Dalton American Legion Post #155 supports local veterans and their families through full military honors, flag retirement ceremonies, community events, and advocacy, helping veterans stay connected and supported. Presenting a proud military color guard, carrying our nation’s colors with honor, precision, and a steadfast commitment to the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedom.
Soldier On is dedicated to ending veteran homelessness and strengthening long-term stability through safe, affordable housing and comprehensive supportive services. Soldier On serves veterans who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness by providing housing placement support. Soldier On’s mission is to help veterans reclaim their place in the community while restoring meaning, dignity, and hope to their lives. Soldier On’s ultimate goal is to ensure that formerly homeless veterans obtain permanent, supportive, sustainable housing, and successfully transition out of homelessness.
Proudly representing America’s Veterans of Foreign Wars is the award-winning Ghent, New York VFW Post 5933 Color Guard. This Color Guard has been participating in the Pittsfield 4th of July parade for many years.
Mustered in 1956 under the command of the late Mort Schermerhorn, current Color Guard members today include third and fourth generation members of Mort’s family. Commanders that proudly succeeded Mort include the late Ralph Kring and the late Dan McDonald.
Today’s Color Guard members are beyond proud to continue the time-honored tradition of honoring our nation’s heroes.
Whether in concert or on the march, since 1899 the Ghent Band has been making people smile and cheer. The members take great pride in keeping the spirit of music and camaraderie alive in the Town of Ghent and beyond. In this historic year, the band joins the nation in celebrating the semiquincentennial.
The Pittsfield Fire Department is leading off with the department’s Honor Guard followed by the membership, the Tower Ladder, and their newest Engine. They are honoring the retirement of Deputy Chief Matt Noyes and Captain James Heath.

A 1937 LaSalle Convertible Coupe driven by Dan Scace of Pittsfield. Originally sold by the Berkshire Auto Company located on South Street in Pittsfield in 1937, it has been in Dan’s family since 1966 when his father purchased it from the original owner. Dan has spent several years restoring it to almost original condition with some modern upgrades.

Premium Waters is a high-volume water bottle manufacturer in Pittsfield who produced over 350 million bottles of water in 2025. Premium Waters is showing off one of its 4 tankers that they use to haul spring water to their site, averaging over 3 million gallons used per month. Premium Waters employees, the PWI mascot Squeeze and Drippy, Uncle Sam, and the American Eagle will march alongside a float that was constructed by Premium Waters employees.

1966 was the final year Studebakers were built. In fact, the South Bend, Indiana Plant had closed and the 1965 & 1966 Studebakers were assembled in Hamilton, Ontario and ran on a small block Chevy 283 engine as Studebaker was running out of money. Studebaker did, however, have a nice run beginning back in 1853, where the 5 Studebaker brothers initially built very high- end wagons, including that of President Lincoln.
The Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center is proud to announce Evelyn Paulo as our Youth of the Year. Evelyn exemplifies the Girls Inc. motto of “Strong, Smart, Bold.” Evelyn serves as a volunteer swim instructor, participates in Discovery Leadership, and volunteers with Berkshire United Way initiatives. Known for her welcoming spirit and belief that “there’s always space for one more,” Evelyn works hard to ensure everyone feels included and valued. The Richmond Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1945 and serves Richmond, surrounding communities, and parts of Columbia County, NY. The fire truck following the members is their brand new 2025 Toyne Engine which recently replaced their previous 1997 KME engine. Taking up the rear is the Richmond Ambulance which is staffed daily by two members serving the community full time for 16 hours a day, supported by the remainder of the volunteers of the department.

The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department proudly presents their oldest antique parade vehicle, a 1935 restored Diamond T Pumper. They will also have their brand new 2025 E-One Typhoon Pumper and their 2014 Ram Brush Truck and RTV used in fighting brush and wildland fires.

In 2026, Youth Alive marked its 30th anniversary, while R.O.P.E. celebrated a 15-year milestone. Youth Alive is a multicultural community-based arts program providing arts and educational opportunities to young people 8-18 years of age with a focus on dance forms including Step, African, and Hip-Hop. R.O.P.E.’s mission is to celebrate and honor the entry of female adolescents into adulthood and provide them with skills and knowledge.

Originating in 1930, St Peter’s Drum Corps from Torrington, CT has performed in 24 countries, 20 states, and Washington, D.C. Their recent performances include Annapolis, Maryland, the Boston Italian Feast, and appearances across New England. They are awarded numerous honors each year at their events, parades, and concerts. St. Peter’s Drum Corps proudly carries on a tradition of excellence, precision, and patriotic spirit wherever they perform.
The Windsor Volunteer Fire Department has proudly served its community since 1957. Today, we celebrate both our history and our future with the town’s very first fire engine — an antique 1957 FWD International — alongside our brand-new 2026 2,000-gallon tanker. Together, these vehicles showcase nearly seven decades of progress in firefighting technology and service to our community. Please welcome the members of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department as they proudly escort these trucks through today’s parade.
Get ready for a larger-than-life spectacle as young artists from Berkshire Art Center bring their Giant Parade Puppets to life! Led by artist, educator, and puppet builder Eric “Homeslice” Weiss, students from Pittsfield, the Berkshires, and beyond collaborated to design and build their own oversized puppet creations, each one a unique work of art. They took part in every step of the process, from sculpting puppet heads mounted on custom wooden frames to constructing expressive rod-controlled hands and flowing fabric arms. Worn using specially designed harnesses, these imaginative “marching giants” will delight audiences of all ages with their creativity, movement, and theatrical charm!

The Adamsville Ancients Fife and Drum Corps performs rousing early American music throughout the greater Albany, New York area and beyond. The corps marches in numerous weekend and holiday parades and has won numerous awards. The corps also travels throughout the Northeast to participate in fife and drum musters hosted by fellow ancient corps.

Founded in 1978, The Connecticut Patriots Fife and Drum Corps proudly hails from Bristol, CT. The Patriots play music from the Revolutionary War to Celtic to today. Using wooden fifes and rope-drums, the group has travelled all over the world, having performed most recently in Switzerland. The corps enjoys performing music that pushes the envelope of what fife and drum corps could be, keeping one foot in the door of tradition and the other, in innovation.
