68th Brattleboro Winter Carnival, 2024
President’s Welcome
Welcome to the 68th Brattleboro Winter Carnival. As Winter Carnival President, it is my good fortune to share with you some of the highlights of our Carnival Week Festivities that will be taking place both indoors and outdoors from Saturday, February 17 until Sunday, February 25. In 2024 we will be bringing back some of our traditional favorites that the committee has o ered over the past 67 years. These o erings include everything from Sugar-on-Snow, the Variety Show, the Chili Cook-O , the Pancake Breakfast to the Indoor Fun Day at BAMS, Sleigh Rides and much more. We will continue with some new winter fun we brought forward in 2023. We will again be holding a Glow Light Skate at the Nelson Withington Skating Facility, Family BINGO, the Dodgeball Tournament, and activities sponsored by Brooks Memorial Library. The Carnival Committee continues to focus on sponsoring family activities that can take place in and out of your home and throughout the community. Our hope is that you will gather your family and friends and come out and enjoy our events. Some highlights of this year’s carnival include: the Variety Show at the BUHS Auditorium, Cross-Country Skiing/Snowshoeing at the Brattleboro Outing Club (BOC), Skiing and Snowboarding at the Brattleboro Ski Hill, Ice Skating at the Nelson Withington Skating Facility, attending the Chili CookO at the Marina Restaurant, enjoying the Movie Matinees at Latchis Theatre, or grabbing your crayons and entering the coloring contest.
We are excited about three new partnerships for 2024. Please join us at the Latchis Theatre for Winter Music from Around the World with the Windham Philharmonic, the American Legion for the “Ice Queens and Kings” drag show, and at The Scott Farm for Snow Golf to benefit the Landmark Trust USA. You can check out our website for a complete listing of our activities at www.brattleborowintercarnival.org or you can follow us on our Facebook page “Brattleboro Winter Carnival”.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee members who continue to use their creative energies to come up with new programs and activities in these challenging times. I would like to personally extend a special thank you to them for volunteering their time to bring these exciting family activities to the 2024 Winter Carnival.
A special thanks goes out to all our 2024 sponsors. Please find a complete listing of our sponsors on our website. We could not do it without your support! I look forward to seeing all your creative postings on our Facebook page at “Brattleboro Winter Carnival” and all of you out and about as you enjoy this year’s events.

SNOW GOLF: CHIP, DRIVE & PUTT FOR PRESERVATION
Scott Farm, 707 Kipling Road, Dummerston, VT
Sunday, February 25th
12:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Player Registration: $35, Spectator Ticket: $5
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to hit a golf ball in the snow? So did Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book and former Dummerston resident! According to the US Golf Association, Kipling invented Snow Golf right here at his Vermont home, Naulakha, and we’re excited to bring this fun outdoor winter sport back.
Golfers of all ages and anyone who wants to enjoy hitting golf balls around in the snow are invited to register for a tee time as an individual or with a group of up to six. Our “course” at Scott Farm is designed in partnership with Brattleboro Country Club and will feature a combination of shorter and longer “holes” and fun golf skills challenges. Snacks and drinks, including an exclusive Scott Farm hard cider cocktail, will be available, and prizes will be awarded for top scores and best dressed. Don’t let your golf swing get stale; embrace the snow!
All proceeds support the nonprofit work of The Landmark Trust USA to preserve our historic properties, including Naulakha, produce place-based educational programs,
and save additional historic buildings. For more information and to register, visit https://landmarktrustusa.org/snow-golf.
