Language and DIGITAL services
Do you want to practice speaking Norwegian? Do you need help with your day-care application? Are you searching for a book in Arabic? Do you need help setting up an e-mail account or send a photo from your mobile phone? At the Service Centre, we can help you! We are located at the lower ground floor of the main library in Strømgaten 6.
Guidance
At the Service Centre, we can help you with 足everything from setting up a CV and applications for jobs or day-care to MinID, tablets and social media. You can get online, using one of our computers or our wireless network, and print, scan and copy. We offer personal guidance in Somali, Arabic, Polish, Spanish and English. You can find us at the lower ground floor of the main library.
Language collections
Our multi-lingual collection comprises prose in 足multiple languages and non-prose on l足anguage and linguistics. We have language lessons in audio book format as well as easy-read books for learners of 足Norwegian, and other audible lessons for learners of other languages. You will also find our large selection of newspapers and periodicals in the Service Centre.
Language cafe
Are you learning Norwegian and do you wish to speak Norwegian with others? Are you Norwegian and do you wish to speak with people from all over the w orld? At the Language Cafe, we chat over a cup of tea or coffee, and start our conversations with a specific subject or a game. Simple catering. Welcome to the Language Cafe for adults, Wednesdays at 12:45–14:45. The Language Cafe is free of charge, requires no sign-up and is provided in affiliation with Det Felles Innvandrerråd i Hordaland. Reading Room for Women Do you wish to learn Norwegian and practice by speaking with other women? The reading group Leserom (Reading Room) might be for you! We read short texts, stories and fairy-tales in comprehensible Norwegian, and discuss what we read. READING ROOM (LESEROM) Tuesdays, 12:45–14:45. Remember to sign up! LAPTOP Club
Do you need to practice using your computer? Are you having trouble getting your computer to cooperate? Welcome to the Laptop Club at the library! At the Laptop Club, we practice using a computer and go through various common subjects, but most importantly: we answer your questions – and no question is too stupid! Homework Tuition At Leksehjelpen (homework tuition), organised by Norwegian Red Cross, youths from the age of 15 can work on school assignments – alone or in groups – and get help if needed, within all subjects.
