Moderne Offices erkennt man daran, dass sie nicht immer wie Offices aussehen: Die Grenzen zwischen Abteilungen werden aufgehoben und Men schen finden sich je nach Aufgabe immer neu zusammen. Diese Heraus forderungen waren die Basis für eine Möbelserie, die Bene in Kooperation mit dem Londoner Designstudio PearsonLloyd konzipierte:

Die Designer von TIMBA haben sich ganz bewusst für den Einsatz von mas siver Eiche entschieden. Denn dieses Holz verleiht den Möbelstücken eine natürliche und warme Ausstrahlung, die sich auf jede Umgebung auswirkt. Die leicht ausgestellten Beine sind in Eiche „Natur“ oder „Graphit“ gebeizt erhält lich. TIMBA Stool und TIMBA Table schaffen eine freundliche Stimmung, die sich positiv auf jede Zusammenarbeit auswirkt.

Using solid oak was a very conscious choice for the designers of TIMBA. It is the type of wood that gives furniture a natural and warm radiance, which has an impact on any envi ronment. The slightly tapered legs are availa ble in natural oak or graphite stained. The TIMBA Stool and Table create a friendly atmosphere that has a positive effect on any collaborative work situation.

This table extends a friendly invitation to your team to congre gate around for a meet ing, to have lunch, or get together after work. Its informal character creates a relaxed atmosphere that makes you forget you are still at Howeverwork. natural, TIMBA Table contains a lot of technology. All necessary power and network connections are readily to hand in the middle of the table top – concealed beneath a stylish oak wood turntable.

Working on ideas takes a lot of energy. And electricity and Internet access. For all this, TIMBA Table features a recessed ‘Power Bowl’ in the middle of the table top, where power and network connections are all at hand. What’s more: it removes clutter

from the table’s surface with extra storage for cables.Anoak turntable conceals the Power Bowl, adding a touch of sophistication to comple ment the natural style of TIMBA Table, and also provides a great place to put important things like pens, paper and chocolate bars.

Wer Ideen umsetzt, braucht viel Energie. Und Strom und Internet. Für all das gibt es in der Mitte des TIMBA Table die „Power Bowl“, in der alle techni schen Anschlüsse sofort griffbereit sind. Außerdem verschwindet auch der Ka belsalat vom Tisch.

Diese Vertiefung wird aber von keiner üblichen Klappe verdeckt – wäre ja auch schade um den schönen Tisch. Sondern von einem stilvollen Drehteller aus Eiche, der auch eine tolle Ablage für wichtige Dinge wie Stifte, Zettel und Schokolade ist.

The TIMBA Table top is available in many different shapes: round, rectangular, square with rounded edges or –even more roundish – as a ‘Soft Edge’. The smallest tabletop is 1 metre in diameter. The

largest table seats twelve people, offering room enough for any thing the day may bring: meetings, presenta tions, conferences, or an XXL pizza for all to share before you call it a day.

Die Tischplatte von TIMBA Table gibt es in vielen verschiedenen Formen: rund, rechteckig, quadratisch mit ab gerundeten Ecken oder – noch weicher – als „Soft Edge“. Die kleinste Tisch platte hat einen Durchmesser von 1 m. Der größte Tisch bietet 12 Personen Platz für alles, was der Tag bringt: Be sprechungen, Meetings, Vorträge oder eine XXL-Pizza für das abgeschlossene Projekt.

Die Sitzschale des TIMBA Stool ist aus hochwertigem, glasfaserverstärktem Kunststoff und gibt es in „White“ oder „Dark Grey“. Und weil es in einem bunten Umfeld einfach mehr Spaß macht zu arbeiten, kann man für den Bezug der Polsterung aus einem großen Farb angebot wählen. Hier ist bis auf „Wild Neon Tangerine Dream“ eigentlich alles möglich. Moment mal: eigentlich ist selbst das kein Problem.

The molded seat of the TIMBA Stool is made of high-quality, rein forced plastic and is available in off-white or dark grey. Work is always so much more fun in a colourful environ ment, so there is a wide variety of colours and fabrics to choose from for the seat pad cover. Luke Pearson und Tom Lloyd Arbeits plätze und urbane Räume. Für Bene spricht Tom Lloyd über die Anforderungen an moderne Möbel – und beantwortet die Frage, in welcher Stadt er am liebsten arbeitet.

WAS WAR INSPIRATIONEUREFÜR TIMBA?

Die Arbeitswelt hat sich in den letzten 50 Jahren stark verändert: Aufgrund neuer Technologien sind wir ständig mobil. Wir kommunizieren mehr miteinander und generieren oft gemeinsam Ideen. Aber auch die Einzelarbeit am eigenen Schreibtisch ist sehr wichtig. Es gibt also einen wachsenden Trend nach einer Atmosphäre, die verschiedene Arbeitsstile mit einer neuen Ästhetik verbindet. Alle diese Trends und Themen haben uns davon überzeugt, dass es einfache und informelle Möbel braucht, um eine Verbindung zwischen dem ein zelnen Schreibtisch und dem formellen Besprechungsraum für alle zu schaffen.

WAS GEFÄLLT IHNEN AN DER ARBEIT MIT HOLZ?

Holz hat einfach viele großartige Qualitäten. Es ist sehr stark, aber leicht zu formen. Um etwas aus Holz zu fertigen, braucht man keine teuren Werk zeuge. Es strahlt Wärme aus und besitzt einen einmaligen Charakter, der nur schwer mit künstlichen Materialien herzustellen wäre. Und: Holz ist zu 100% klimaneutral, was für uns bei der Produktentwicklung wichtig ist.

WARUM GIBT ES TIMBA AUCH IN EINER STEH-HÖHE?

In modernen Büros sind Steh-Mee tings immer häufiger zu beobachten. Inzwischen weiß man, dass es ungesund ist, den ganzen Tag an einem Schreibtisch zu sitzen – physisch wie psychisch. Und: Meetings, bei denen alle stehen, fördern die Konzentration und die Effizienz. Denn es ist einfach schwieriger, für längere Zeit zu stehen! In Zukunft wird es ganz normal sein, bei der Arbeit zu stehen – oder zu sitzen. Deshalb brauchen moderne Arbeitsplätze eine Auswahl an verschiedenen Arbeitsstilen. TIMBA ist dafür ideal.

The landscape and atmosphere and function of the modern workplace is changing com pletely in comparison to 50 years ago. Technology allows people to become completely mobile while at Communicationwork.and the generation of ideas with a group of people are as important as individual work at a desk. Traditional meet ing rooms do not en courage an informal exchange of ideas and information that is needed today. Colleagues often work in teams for long periods where they need an informal setting. The workplace is becoming less mech anised and more hu mane. There is a grow ing trend towards a more informal atmo sphere of both work styles and aesthetics. All these themes and trends led us to the belief that a simple informal table product was needed to act as a bridge between the individual desk and the formality of the meeting room.

Früher waren Arbeitsplätze männlich dominiert. Wir freuen uns, dass sich das mit der wachsenden Gleichstellung von Mann und Frau verändert. Für uns hat das auch einen Einfluss auf den Arbeitsplatz. TIMBA repräsentiert die menschlichere, weniger mechani sche Seite der Arbeit – und in diesem Sinn auch eine femininere.

WAS REIZT SIE AM THEMA „MÖBEL“?

Bei der Gestaltung und Herstellung von Möbeln setzt man Prozesse ein, die es bereits seit Tausenden von Jahren gibt. Für uns ist es aufregend zu sehen, wie Rohstoffe in funktionelle Produkte umgewandelt werden. Es überrascht uns immer wieder, dass Stühle und Tische bereits so lange hergestellt wer den – aber dass es doch immer wieder neue Möglichkeiten und Wege dafür gibt.

ERZÄHLEN SIE UNS BITTE ETWAS ÜBER IHREN DESIGNPROZESS.

Bei PearsonLloyd verbinden wir innovative Strategien mit Industriedesign. Zu Beginn eines Projekts entwickeln wir mit unseren Kunden die genauen An forderungen: Welches Problem wollen wir lösen? Was ist der kreative und kom-

DOES TIMBA HAVE MASCULINEMORE OR QUALITIESFEMININE TO YOU?

The workplace has been a masculine-domi nated environment forever. There is no doubt that growing gender equality in the work force is having an influence across all parts of the workplace. In the sense that the TIM BA Table and Stool seek to present a less mechanistic, more humane, more informal attitude, then we would say they have a more feminine sense.

When designing and making furniture, you are in touch with a process that has been car ried out for thousands

of years. We have always been in love with the process of making. Seeing a factory converting raw materials into parts and then func tional products is always a thrill. It is a strange thing that even though chairs and tables have been made for thousands of years, there is always a sense of new opportunities in the future.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS WHEN YOU WORKINGSTARTON A PROJECT?

Our design process mixes innovation strat egy with industrial design. At the beginning of a project, we work with our clients to develop the creative brief for new products and services. What is the problem we are attempting to solve, what is the creative and com mercial context for the project? Do we need to make a new product? This is a mixture of trend analysis with thinking about the future of our daily lives. How will changes in technology, demographics, or environmental concerns influence society in the future? While developing the product itself, we are passionate about creating products that are intelligent, beautiful and surprising but also appropriate to our times. In all this work, we mix analysis, intuition, and experi ence.

merzielle Kontext des Projekts? Brau chen wir vielleicht ein ganz neues Pro dukt? Bestandteil unserer täglichen Arbeit ist die Analyse von Trends und der Blick in die Zukunft: Wie beein flussen Technologien, demographische Entwicklungen oder Umweltgegebenheiten die Gesellschaft von morgen? Wir entwickeln unsere Produkte auch im mer mit viel Leidenschaft: Uns begeis tern Möbel, die intelligent, schön und überraschend sind – und dabei auch zeitgemäß. Kurz gesagt ist unsere Arbeit eine Mischung aus Analyse, Intuition und Erfahrung.
