M U T TS MOVE ON THE

A guide to moving safely and happily with pets.

TI ME TO MOV E ? Moving is exciting, but it can be stressful for our four-legged friends. Follow these tips to keep your pet safe and content on your journey.

P R EPA R ATION Prior to the big move day, clear a room for your pet and fill it with familiar surroundings, including toys, treats, beds, and soft music. NO STRE SS Secure your pet inside the room and keep the door closed to keep stress levels at a minimum until it is time to leave.

C ON TA IN Keep your pets in sturdy, familiar carriers while on the road to keep them safe, calm, and unable to distract you from driving. C OMFORT If your pet does not do well or is uncomfortable in carriers, use a seatbelt harness or a good supply of comfy blankets.

P OTTY B R EA K S Plan frequent stops for pet (and people) potty breaks. Getting out for some excercise on long trips helps, too.

K E E P C LE AN Be sure to bring plenty of waste bags, potty pads, and cleaning products, just in case there happens to be an accident.

MED IC ATION Keep your petʼs medication and food handy in the car with you and your pet, not packed away in the moving van.

STAY C OOL Bring a cooler for medications, food, and treats, for both you and your pets. Be sure to keep it somewhere easily attainable.

D IS TR A C TION Bring small distractions such as your petʼs favorite treats and toys. These will help keep your pet calm and pass the time on your trip.

FAM I L I ARI T Y On move in day, be sure to have something that belongs to your pet waiting for them upon arrival, such as a familiar toy and/or bed.
