Each year, around 2,500 New Zealanders are diagnosed with an upper gastrointestinal cancer, including pancreatic, oesophageal, stomach, liver and biliary cancers.
Transforming lives: A new era of support for gut cancer patients Gut Cancer Foundation’s mission is to improve and save the lives of New Zealanders affected by these cancers, through leading research and innovation, awareness and education, and advocacy. In April 2026, Gut Cancer Foundation launched a new nurse-led Support Service dedicated to supporting patients, carers and their whanau - to inform, support and connect - whether experiencing symptoms, navigating a diagnosis, undergoing treatment, or adjusting to life beyond cancer. The service was shaped by months of collaboration and care, and made possible thanks to the generous support of a community of donors, partners and funders. Bell Gully is proud to support Gut Cancer Foundation with pro bono legal advice, and was delighted to host the launch of the new service.
