SALMON RIVER FALLS UNIQUE AREA Located about 15 miles inland from Lake Ontario, Salmon River Falls Unique Area encompasses 112 acres of land managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in the town of Orwell in Oswego County. Visitors can view the spectacular 110-foot waterfall and hike the tree-shaded, hardenedsurface trail that runs along the northern edge of a steep gorge through which the Salmon River 昀氀ows. Salmon River Falls includes a 1,100foot wheelchair accessible trail from the parking area to an overlook that offers stunning views of the falls. A series of trails accompany the main Falls Trail, including the demanding 600-foot Gorge Trail that takes hikers to the river basin. Cliffs as high as 120 feet are present within the gorge.
