My dear athletes and parents:

You have been exercising your muscles and sport abilities during this year complementing your academic studies. Certainly your physical exercises have made you feel well and happy and improved your health also.

The sports that you have been practicing have also made you a more social person, a human being who respects rules and plays in a team, respecting the others’ positions and places. And, of course, you have learned to win and to lose with sportsmanship.

Congratulations to those who have mastered both, studies and sports, with proficiency. That is a tremendous training for life where you have to do so many things at the same time.

Continue your efforts to excel in sports maintaining a high GPA and exercising your body properly.

VARSITY SPORTS:

-Our 2004-2005 sports season has been an outstanding one as evident in the over-all success of our teams. Excellence on and off the field is also evident with the success of our student-athletes. Javier Basnuevo continues the Belen tradition by being named a finalist in The Miami Herald Scholar Athlete A ward. Belen Jesuit has placed more student Athletes among the top 5 in Dade County than any other school.

-12 out of 13 varsity teams recorded winning seasons with a combined record of 154 wins and 36 losses. Wrestling, Cross Country, Swimming and Track & Field finished their regular seasons undefeated.

-The Varsity Cross Country team finished as District and Regional Champions and also won an unprecedented 9th Dade County Youth Fair Championship. Eduardo Arg ello made First Team All State as well as First Team All County. Paul Santuoso and Guillermo Echarte also joined Arg ello in the First Team All County.

-The Varsity Swim team also won an unprecedented 8th Dade County Youth Fair Championship, and recorded another District win.

Javier Basnuevo, Frankie Lacayo, Javier Fonseca, Kevin Hayes, and Raymond Zomerfeld were named to the First Team All County.

-The Cheerleading team recorded a 2nd Place in the Regional competition, a 3rd place in the American open and a 1st place in the US Nationals. Gaby Sobrado was the senior member; she has been a varsity member for the past four seasons.

-The Varsity Basketball team had one of the most successful seasons in school history as they finished with a record of 25 wins and only 4 losses. They went on to defeat Columbus High School in front of the largest crowd ever at FIU s Pharmed Arena. Coach Roca’s team went on to win another District Championship and tournament championships at Sunset and St. Pius X in Atlanta. Their aspirations for a run at the State Championship were halted by an overtime loss to Cardinal Gibbons High School in the Region Semi Final round. Alex Telleria closed out his stellar career by scoring over 1,000 career points. Coach Jose Roca recorded his 150th career win. Anthony Fern ndez was chosen to the First Team All County and Second Team All State, Alex Teller a was chosen to the Second Team All County and a Third Team All State.

-The Varsity Football team finished with a record of 6-4. The team played in a record number of games within a small period of time due to the hurricanes that hit Florida. The team, coaches and parents showed kindness and sportsmanship by agreeing to re-schedule a home game and play it away at Ft. Pierce John Carroll with very little rest. Jorge R os had one of the most productive seasons ever for a Belen running back and was rewarded as "Player of the Year" by the Touchdown Club. Carlos Nieto, Jorge R os and Peter Mu oz were chosen as All County First Team by the Miami Herald.

-The new sport in town, Water Polo, finished a historic season; this is the first year it is an FHSAA State Sanctioned sport. The young team did not disappoint as they finished with a record of 17 -4 and District runner-ups. The future looks extremely promising; Goalie Patrick Gonz lez is the only senior in the team.

-The Varsity Wrestling team is back with their winning ways as evident in their 7-0 record. Javier Rodr guez came away with a District Championship. Eighth grader Dylan Rico became one of the youngest wrestlers ever for Belen to make it to the State Championships together with Javier Rodr guez and Steven Rico.

-The Varsity Track and Field team completed another unbeaten season, and came away with the Region Runner up trophy and finished 5th in the State Championships. Eduardo Arg ello and Peter Pidermann came away with second place medals in their individual events at the State Championships. Billy Gil, Guerdy Fabr , and Paul Santuoso won individual medals in the pole vault, high jump and 1,600 respectively. The 4X800 meter relay with Santuoso, Arg ello, Michael Jalil and Jason Oliver also came away with a 4th place medal.

-The Varsity Baseball team finished with a record of 17-10 and placed 4th at the prestigious Bishop Moore Catholic tournament and became District Runner-ups. Seniors Jorge Jord n, Andrew Guasch, Brian Dom nguez, and Christopher L pez have provided excellent leadership.

-The Varsity Golf team completed one of their most successful seasons ever as they finished in 3rd place among all of the schools in Dade County. Leading the team were 1 Sophomore and 3 Freshmen. Andr s Pumariega finished second at the Dade County Youth Fair, Richi Massa and Ricardo Escobar also had outstanding seasons.

-The Crew team showed their strength at the FSRA Regatta by recording a 2nd place in the Varsity-4 and also in the Freshman-4; the Varsity lightweight finished 3rd.The team had 50 members and the parental support was outstanding!

-The Varsity Soccer team ended up as District runners up. Goalie Patrick Gonz lez and Midfielder Andr s Vega were chosen to the First Team All County. Luis Wulff was picked to the Second Team.

-The Varsity Tennis team finished their season with a record of 12 and 3. They also came away with a third place finish at the District championship. Roland Mart nez came away with a District Championship in the number 3 singles.

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

The Jr. High sports program continue their dominance as they compiled a combined record of 117 wins and 13 losses. The Swim team finished 1st place in the Dade County Youth Fair Championships; their 7th in a row.The Jr. High Cross Country team also managed to win another Dade County Youth Fair title. The Jr. High Track and Field team, Flag Football (Blue team), Jr. High Soccer, Tennis, Water Polo, 6th Grade Soccer and the 6th Grade Baseball all finished their seasons undefeated and first in their divisions. Among some of the outstanding athletes in the middle school division were V ctor Padilla, Patrick de la Llana, Michele Martucci, Nicol s Llaca, Michael Abad n, Justin Gonz lez, Zack Berger, Francisco Chamorro, Juan Fern ndez, Christian Oliveros, Julio and Juan L pez.

NEW PROJECTS:

The concession stand, the athletic field bathrooms, and the baseball dugouts were completed. The football/soccer field is being renovated and is coming out great! The tennis courts got freshened up as the wind screens that were damaged by bad weather were replaced, the fence was repaired and the courts were pressure cleaned.

We are currently running an athletic campaign to help pay off the cost of the football/soccer field renovation. A donation of $240 will entitle you to have your name permanently engraved in front of a bleacher seat, they will also receive a portable chair with the school emblem as well as free admission to all home football/soccer games excluding FHSAA play-off series. Adonation of $500 will entitle the donor to have their name permanently displayed in one of the new stadium seats which will be placed in the newly designated VIPsection. The donor will have lifetime rights to the use of the seat and a booster card that will enable them to attend all Belen home games for the period of one full year, with the exception of State play-offs.

This year the Varsity Cheerleaders have excelled in every aspect of cheerleading. They have worked together and improved their stunting, jumping and tumbling abilities. As a team, they have hit difficult stunts such as squad scorpions, double downs and sequences with over five different stunts. These stunts are college level and the Belen Varsity cheerleaders have performed them with ease. Overall, they have succeeded in every competition and finished the year as US National champs. It has been an honor to coach these young women, and I look forward to next year being even more successful.

The Junior Varsity Belen Cheerleaders have made an incredible improvement this year. Starting from scratch, these young women came in working together and getting along as a team to learn, perfect, and perform all the skills and tasks set in front of them. Throughout the year they were able to hit difficult stunts such as an arabesque, full down, and a variety of basket tosses. Overall, they have received 2nd place in competitions and looked their best at local performances. I look forward for the following year to be a year of excellence and its been an honor to coach these young ladies.

The 2004-2005 Varsity Baseball team ended the season 17-10 and 10-0 in the district and has been the regular season district champions three years in a row. Junior Kris Garcia led the Wolverines in hitting with a .480 batting average and had some key hits during the season. Chris Lopez had a great season displaying consistent hitting all year long ending the year with an average of .424. Mauricio Rodriguez was consistent on the hill all year long finishing with a 7-2 record and an ERAwell below 2.00 runs per game. The season was a very competitive one and the future looks bright for the Wolverines as they return 7 starters in 2005-2006.

The 2004-2005 Varsity Basketball Team completed the second best season in school history with a record of 25 wins and 4 losses. The Wolverines won their 2nd District Title in a row by defeating Doral Academy in the semifinal and Archbishop Curley in the championship game. The team defeated Key West in the regional quarterfinal for the school’s first post district win in 27 years. The season ended with an overtime loss to Cardinal Gibbons in the semifinal round.

The Wolverines are undefeated against all 6A schools during the past two years. This includes the second win in a row against Christopher Columbus in front of an estimated crowd of over 5,000 (the largest crowd ever assembled at the Pharmed Arena on the campus of Florida International University). The Wolverines also were crowned champions of the Sunset Knight Time Tournament and the St. Pius X Christmas Tournament in Atlanta.

The team was led by Anthony Fern ndez who averaged 17.2 points and 9 rebounds per game and Alex Teller a with 13.4 points and 2.0 assists per game. Alex and Anthony both scored their 1000th point during the season and Coach Roca recorded his 150th win in eight seasons at Belen. Gaby Berm dez guided the team as point guard averaging 8.1 assists, 8.2 points, and 4.6 rebounds per game. Ra l Ordo ez had 8.9 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks per game, while Chris Zum rraga added 7.1 points per game as the fifth starter.

Although there were some spectacular individual performances throughout the season, each player played a key role on this team. The non-starting Seniors on the team were Jerry Cabezas, Jonathan Hermida, Frank Manes and Carlos Nieto. This was a year of change for the rowing program. A new season, a new coach, a new infrastructure, a new philosophy, and new expectations. The goal was to put all crews on the starting line with the potential to be competitive in every race.

The program showed strength across the board from the four-man to the eight-man crews. Much of the leadership this year came from the bottom up. The young athletes often served as the example of commitment and determination. Their efforts led to great success at the Novice and Freshman levels. At the Miami International Regatta, the program was only one race shy of sweeping each and every one of the Freshman and Novice races, winning four of the possible five. Although the veteran side is very young, much of the team's current strength is at the lightweight level. Out of a fifty-member squad, we are only losing two seniors to graduation. These Seniors have been with the team through all the ups and downs of a new program. Their silver medal at the Scholastic State Championship was so well deserved and serves as an example to all their teammates. Persistence really can pay off. This five year old Belen rowing program will continue to mature and change, but it is on the road to success.

The best way to tell the 2004 season's story is to give a recap of the State Championship Meet. There were 4 Seniors in the top 7, and this proved to be their strength. 5 of 7 runners set personal records and 5 went under the 17:00 mark for a 5K. These guys had the best race of their life but they 15 points short of a state title. The team was led by one of Belen's fastest runners ever - Eddie Argüello. He went for the win and pretty much led for 2 miles. He finished only 9 sec. off of the school record (which he set at 15:18). Closely behind him was Paul Santuoso, often referred to as, "Mr. Consistent" because no matter what, he does his job. In fact, he tripped and fell pretty bad 600 meters into the race and yet he got back up and finished in 11th. Behind him we had Freshman Guillermo Echarte who is most certainly going to be a name state runners will be familiar with for years to come. The next runner was Mike Jalil, a staple in Belen Cross Country since 7th grade. This "machine" came through at state in a big way finishing in the top 20. Our fifth man was Danny Castellanos also a runner who has been with the Belen Cross Country program since Junior High. He is a strong runner that just never seemed to give up. In the end he came through and improved his personal record by more than 15 seconds. Behind these guys pushing the gap were Michael Cruz and Javier Zamparelli. The 2004 team is undoubtedly, one of the best teams in the school's history.

VARSITY F FOOTBALL

The 2004 Football season was a very succesful one, finishing 64 while playing the second toughest schedule in school history. The team had to overcome the emotional roller coaster of cancelled and postponed games due to three hurricanes that hit the area. With all the chaos caused by the hurricanes the team had to play three of its four toughest opponents to start the season. The team lost 2 point heart breakers to Hardee County and Ft. Pierce John Carroll and fell to state power Chaminade. The team then went 6-1 the rest of the season with wins over Ransom, Pope John Paul II, Arch. McCarthy, Gulliver, North Broward Prep. and a 32 to 7 Homecoming victory over Hollywood Christian, the number one ranked team in Class 1A. Jorge Ríos broke the school record for rushing yards in a regular season with 1261 yds.

This was a break out year for the Belen Golf team as we became recognized as a "golf powerhouse" in Miami-Dade County, to quote the Miami Herald. They had the best year ever with a winning percentage of 89% (8-1 record, 86% last year). The team was led by one 10th grader and three 9th graders, making our future very bright with the potential for a state championship by these outstanding players before they graduate. The team finished 3rd overall out of 28 teams in the Dade County Youth Fair. Andrés Pumariega was 2nd overall with a score of 71. The Wolverines also qualified for Regionals as a team, missing qualifying for States in a playoff. We also had one player on 2nd team Miami Herald AllDade Team (Pumariega), one on 3rd team Miami Herald All-Dade Team (Massa) and a third received Honorable Mention (Escobar).

This season was a special one for the Hockey team because of the 4 seniors that would leave at the end of the season.Facing new and improved rivals, they knew it would be a difficult season. However they took every game as if it were a championship game.Solid defense and clutch saves was the key to the teams success.Getting progressively better as the season went on the team mangaged to reach the semifinals in the playoffs.

The JV team won the District Championship defeating Gulliver 4-2.The Wolverines were down 2-1 with 5 minutes left in the Championship game.Back to back goals by Ray and Nicky Mouriz, sealed the win and the championship.Tony Aguad was outstanding in goal.

VARSITY S SOCCER

Team Record: 16-6-2

The Varsity Soccer team had to begin this season after losing 9 Seniors from last year s squad, putting the program on a rebuilding year. With all this change the Wolverines still managed to pull a record of 16-6-2. Unfortunately, in the final part of the season just before the district final and regional play-off games the team lost some of the starting players due to serious, season-ending injuries. This young team left all their strength on the soccer field. The defense was led by Senior Omar Palacios, the midfield by Senior Andr s Vega and Junior, Luis Wulff, and the attack was commanded by Freshman Felipe Ortega and Sophomore Johan Ekman.

The constant sacrifice and dedication of team captains Senior goalkeeper Patricio Gonz lez and Senior Andr s Vega will be an example that the new players should follow next season. Although we lose some great players, we still have a talented team for the future. Next year the soccer program will be moving up to class 4A and we all feel that it will be a fantastic experience.

The 2005 season began without two District Champions and an undefeated player from last year's team who returned to Ecuador. To fill this huge gap in the lineup, newcomers Roland Martínez, Christian Oliveros, Omar Palacios, Alex Lázaro, and William Gómez arrived to help veterans Marcos Segrera, Juan Fernández, Roland St. Louis, Jorge Gómez, and Mario Fernández. The result was a surprisingly strong team that finished the year with a 12-3 record , Third Place in the District, and a bright outlook for the future. The District 16AA Tournament was moved from Tropical Park to the Tennis Center at Crandon Park where the Nasdaq100 Tennis Tournament took place two weeks before. Despite just having taken off a wrist cast, 8th Grader Juan Fernández returned to the courts at Number Two Singles to upset the #2 Seed with a valiant 8-6 win in the tiebreaker. After missing most of the season with a back injury, Freshman Roland Martínez upset the #1 Seed and the #2 Seed to become District 16AA Champion at Number Three Singles. What a bright future is in store for these great players and sportsmen. Special thanks to Ms. Cartaya who continues to be the Tennis Team's most faithful fan and for helping coach the team against Gulliver. The team is indebted to Mr. Ramón Sierra for all his years of service to the team.

This year's team finished once again with another undefeated season (18-0). They felt that in order to be successful, they needed a strong foundation. The team found its leadership, in its heart and soul, team captain Eddie Argüello. Eddie set the school record for the 800M and was co-District Champion as well as Regional Champion in this event. Twelve athletes moved on to the State Finals, including Seniors: Guerdy Fabré and Jerry Cabezas, who finished third and fourth in Regionals in the High Jump with a height of 6 feet 4 inches, Billy Gil in Pole Vault who finished second in Regionals with a height of 13 feet, Eddie Argüello in the l600M run and the 800M run, and Paul Santuoso in the l600M run. Freshman Guillermo Echarte moved on to States in the 3200M run. Junior Peter Pidermann moved on in the 300M Hurdles and will return to lead the team next season. Senior Eduardo Regalado, also had a great season recording his personal record in both Shot Put and Discus.

Although the season record shows no matches won, the JVteam was successful in many ways. Captain Carlos Jordán did an excellent job at keeping the team focused and firing them up on time-outs. Peter Cruz Gordillo set the example for being a team player. Chris Palomo always gave it his all and never quit. Overall, there was a desire to do better and improve. Randy Fabré, Mathew Rad and Mathew Jordán showed great improvement through out the season. Thomas Muñoz and Alex Egusquiza braved the new role as Libero. All in all, these young men never quit. They stayed together and supported each other through the many tough losses. They all deserve recognition for their commitment to the team. A special thanks to Michael Garrote for giving up his free time to keep score at all the games.

The Belen Varsity Water Polo team greatly improved from last year when they finished with a 9-7 record. In only their second year they returned with a 17-4 record and 2nd place finish in District 11. With the exception of two seniors the whole team will be back next year. A special thank you to our Senior Patrick González.

This year’s team was made up mostly of 13,14,15 year olds. It has the potential for great things in the future and has some players who will make a big impact in Dade County Water-polo for the next 3-4 years. Some of these players are Oscar Fonseca, J.C López, Anthony López, Jake Bakas, Juan López, Julián Miranda, Andrés Simauchi, Robert Gentry and William López. Oscar Fonseca led the Wolverine charge with 61 goals and JC López had 45 goals. Next year the goal is to win districts and make it to the State Tournament.

This year's team was young and inexperienced. Despite that, they proved they had potential by winning all seven dual meets and placing in several tournaments. The following individuals made their imprints this season. Dylan Rico became one of the youngest state qualifiers. Team captains, Javi Rodriquez and Steven Rico showed what being a captain is all about by also qualifying for the state tournament. Marshall Thomas, came one match away from qualifying for

the state tournament. David García, whose technique was superior to most of his other teammates, always wrestled to the best of his abilities while in the most difficult weight class. Lester González wrestled without fea, and Luis Simauchi gave one hundred percent showing tremendous heart. The team learned that we are not only a team but also a family.

This was another excellent season of Belen Jesuit Basketball. Not only did the varsity team win the District Championship for the second straight year, but the J.V. had great success as well. Although they were faced with an extremely tough schedule and a series of injuries to key players, they still managed to produce a more than respectable record of (14-9).

There were two highlights during the season that everyone involved will certainly always remember. First, there was the Columbus game in front of a packed house at the F.I.U. gym. The game featured eight lead changes and went right down to the wire. Although the Wolverines came up just a little short of victory this time, it was a great effort and a tremendous experience. Then just two weeks later, the Wolverines rallied from a 15-point deficit in the final five minutes to defeat Ferguson High School by a score of 58-57.

The team's leading scorer, Diego Fernández-Soto, and fellow freshman Michael García, both moved up to the varsity for the district playoffs. Several of this year's players will be returning next year and are expected to continue the winning tradition of Belen Jesuit Basketball.

With an increase in freshman enrollment and a number of talented players, the Freshman Basketball team had very high expectations on what they would achieve this year. "We hoped for a strong season with solid play and improved skills from all of our players," stated Coach Eduardo Delgado. The Freshman Wolverines did not disappoint finishing the year with a 16-4 record and placing 3rd in the North Broward Prep Tournament behind Columbus and the host school. "After our opening overtime loss to Gulliver at the beginning of the season, the team rallied behind great practices and a focus and energy on reaching our true potential," said Coach Alex Zequeira. The team's season including multiple wins over Pine Crest, Pace, and Pope John Paul II, as well as two wins over Gulliver, avenging the loss in the season opener. "Practices were difficult, and the road trips were some times long, but we knew there was something special with this team and we wanted to do our best from day one," said freshman starter Andrés Pumariega. The best came from all members, but stand-outs were starting shooting guard Michael Newmeyer and starting center Alex Duarte. Newmeyer lead the team in scoring, while Duarte lead in rebounds, blocks and somersaults.

The Junior High Baseball team finished the 2005 season with a 22-3 overall record, (120 at home) outscoring their opponents 267-77. The season got off to a great start with a 7 game winning streak and ended with a 10 game winning streak. It was a record setting season for the team both offensively and on the mound. With a team batting average of .459 and no batter getting up to the plate less than 25 times on the season, it was clear that every player on the team was an offensive threat. The team also prided itself on playing hard and running aggressively on the base paths, averaging almost 10 stolen bases a game. Justin González and Zack Berger led the offensive attack with identical .617 batting averages. Justin also led the team with 32 runs scored and 32 stolen bases, while Zack led the team with 6 Home Runs and 31 RBI's. On the mound, the Wolverines were led by starting pitchers Nick Llaca, Mario Rojas, and Frank Méndez who had a combined recordof 17-0. Nick Llaca led the pack with an 8-0 record and 68 strikeouts on the season.

The 2004-2005 Junior High Basketball Team was very successful this season because of the passion, desire and chemistry that it exhibited on the basketball court. Together, this very young, undersized and inexperienced unit excelled against its most challenging and talented opponents.

Led by third-year coach Thomas de Quesada, the team repeated as champions of the ACC and won the Columbus Pre-season Tournament. The unit was very well balanced with eight seventh graders and seven eighth graders. The team was led all season by the intensity and physical play of eighth graders Víctor Padilla, Mario Rojas, Nick Llaca, Pablo Morejón, Andrés Rovirosa and seventh graders Nigel Dondo, Pablo Alvarez and Robert Espino.

The team's success could also be attributed to exceptional guard play. Seventh graders Sergio Fernández-Soto and Nick Santurio gave opposing defenders headaches because of their superior ball handling skills. Eighth grader Luis Wulff provided some much needed experience off the bench. Jorge Menocal and Art Martínez's scoring abilities and enthusiasm were also a key to success this season. Marcos Calderón's knack for distributing the ball and David Iparraguirre's effort level were also an essential part of the equation.

In the end, what made the season so successful was the team's commitment to defense. Defense is what propelled the team to its biggest victories of the season against Ransom, Palmer Trinity and Epiphany.

This was a season of incredible highs and a disappointing low. This could have been the most successful JH team in school history, except for a one-point loss in the ACC Championship. This season in a team filled with talented runners, the champions were the ones that persevered. The team s greatest success during the season was winning the flrunners.com State Championship for the first time and, the Dade County Championship for the 11th time.

This season had a rough start with a few hurricanes, game cancellations, and a tough loss in the first actual game. The remainder of the season, however, was nothing but win after win. The four remaining victories included three shutouts, one being against a long time rival. With the help of a handful of veterans, the team was propelled to a 4-1 finish and took its place among one of the best seasons in Junior High Football history.

The Belen Swim Team has defended Dade County’s Middle School Championships for the past 7 years. Coach Uribe in her fourth year has defended the title with a young group of athletes. Last year’s squad acquired the experience to dominate this year’s schedule. Coach Uribe’s experience continued to motivate this squad to an undefeated dual meet season with wins over Gulliver, Ransom and Miami Country Day. The school produced swimmers that have contributed to the Belen swimming tradition. They have continued Belen’s winning ways promoting sportsmanship toward their rivals. Outstanding efforts this season belong to Carlos Omana, Andrés Vázquez, Gaspar Barreto, Carlos Basnuevo, Pablo Morejón, Diego Mursuli, Julio López, and Jake Bakas. They were all finalist at the Dade County Championship helping Belen secure the 1st Place finish again. Our younger athletes progressed in their overall skills and contributed to our team. This was a great year and we would like to acknowledge Mr. Deschapelles for assisting our program with his coaching skills and to our parents for their volunteer help. We would also like to thank Coach Uribe for her hard work and motivation.

The Junior High Tennis Team had the good fortune of having four middle school tennis players qualify for the Varsity and Junior High teams. Juan Fernández, Christian Oliveros, Alejandro Lázaro, and Stephen Zambrano contributed to the Varsity record of 12-3 and, with Ferrán Arimón, went on to complete the Junior High starting lineup.

The team defeated Epiphany and Palmer-Trinity during the season. The team is eager to advance the tennis program at Belen and we expect a great future for all the players.

This young and inexperienced group of athletes had a great year. They won every major invitationalwith the exception of the Dade County Youth Fair where the team placed 4th. The Wolverines were led all year by the superb running of Patrick de la Llana who broke stadium records in the 400 M, 800 M, and 1600 Meters, while becoming the Dade County Champion in the 800 M and 1600 M. Michael Abadín proved to be a force in the throwing events where he was the top man for the team. When the announcement for 6th Grade Basketball came out, there were over 75 players trying out for the team. Twelve of these players would be chosen to represent Belen Jesuit Prep School. This was no easy task, but I can honestly say that the best twelve were chosen.

The team ended up with an overall record of 10 wins and 2 losses, and a share of the ACC title. This team had big shoes to fill, but that didn't seem to bother them. This was a fun group to be around, that worked hard and simply loved to play basketball. As a coach, you love to be in this type of situation, no egos to worry about, just play the game. The future of our program is bright with these kids coming up. I would like to thank the parents for their support throughout the season, and especially the players for working hard, and leaving everything on the court. A coach cannot ask for anything more.

Through five previous meets the Wolverines did not place higher than 4th in any meet, but in the All Catholic Conference Championship they surprised everyone by winning the championship by a mere three points. Team Recognition: ACC Champions

The 6th Grade Baseball team was a class act this year that surpassed all expectations. They started their preseason by playing in two tournaments, facing quality teams who had been together for some time and had been hand picked solely for the purpose of winning. This team’s high standard of baseball playing got them runner-up trophies in both tournaments. The 6th Grade baseball team this year boasted two great catchers, Manny Rodríguez and Javier Ortiz who also pitched. The remainder of the rotation consisted of René Tato, Max Salvador, Nick Menocal and Nick Gómez, who were just as strong with arms of steel. The infield was like a brick wall with Miguel Ramallo, Gio Ayala, Matthew Ryan and Alex Giménez on the rotation at second base. At third base the threat continued with Jake Pequignot and Hector de la Nuez, who also played outfield. The outfield was led by “Old Blue” Sheehan Planas-Artega who also played many positions. Also there, when the team needed them, were twins Andrés and Calixto García-Vélez, Joe Lindsay, Andrés Martínez who played the outfield and many utility positions. From your coach’s point of view, this team was a blessing. Enjoy your Northern ACCChampionhip and good luck in the future.
