Belen Jesuit is an all-male college preparatory school founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, where it operated until government seizure in May 1961. It reopened in Miami, Florida, in September 1961 and moved into the current campus in September 1981. Since then, the campus has grown to 34 acres in suburban Miami with state-of-the-art facilities. The foundation of education at Belen is based on religious formation, academic excellence, social responsibility and athletic achievement. As a Catholic-Jesuit school, Belen strives to form leaders who are men of character committed to the Christian spirits of understanding, social justice and concern for others. Although the majority of Belen students are of Hispanic background, the school is open to all students regardless of race, religion or national origin.
