Filmindustry insiders to provide tips on success The Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF) is teaming up with sponsor and educational affiliate Woodbury University to host a day of FREE seminars and panels providing insider tips and advice for success in the film and television industry. This exciting FREE event will take place from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. on Saturday April 5, 2014 at the stateof-the-art Fletcher Jones Auditorium at Woodbury University, 7500 N. Glenoaks Blvd., in Burbank, CA 91504. The event is designed to educate, entertain, and inspire anyone wanting to learn more about, or pursue a career in the art of filmmaking. Speakers and panelists will include award-winning industry insiders, who will provide an up-close and personal look at the ever-changing landscape of Hollywood. Matt Denny’s and Del Sol Salon hair dressing salon co-sponsored the 13th annual event for St. Baldrick’s last Wednesday. With the support of the Arcadia Fire and Police Departments, Holy Angels School and many other clubs and individuals, Matt Denny’s has helped raise over $450,000.00 since 2001. Heads shaved officially according to the website is a little mislead-
ing as many firefighters jumped in and just shaved, so we probably had 160 heads shaved. Total Dollar amount as of this morning was $67,072.00 and there are still checks coming in. On St. Baldrick’s Day, people shave their heads to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. Marrs had a more personal reason than most. A local family overwhelmed with joy were presented with a refurbished 2010 SUV courtesy of Seidner’s Collistion Center in Duarte Monday afternoon. Hildebrand and Elena Llanto of Pasadena are raising three children, Rosa, 14, Vadim, 12, and Natasha, 6. Hildebrand

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives and jail deputies are still searching for 37-year old suspect Christopher Lee Brown, who escaped from the Inmate Reception Center Release area at approximately 10:00pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014. "As a result of the inmate’s actions, and that it appears that mandated security practices may not have been followed, the inmate was able to escape through the jail Inmate Reception Center release area door,” said Captain Mike Parker, Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “Identified security concerns were immediately remedied,” he said. NASCAR at California Speedway a ‘knockout’ By Bill Harrington Fontana comes alive with another busy NASCAR weekend at the California Speedway. This was the 5th race of the season and the first time for California race fans to witness the new “knockout” qualifying rules. Matt Kenseth #20 won the Pole Friday and finished fourth on Sunday giving him a top 5 finish. Jeff Gordon sped to his pit during the first caution
and was tagged for a speeding violation. He restarted in 43rd place and worked his way back to the top 10 in only 39 laps. He seemed to have the fastest car of the day but the restarts continued to haunt him. His teammate Jimmie Johnson led the most laps, dominating the race.
