uch to the delight of a packed council chambers, Kimpton’s role in the restoration of Pasadena’s historic Julia Morgan-designed YWCA building has come to a close.

After council voted 5-2 in favor of Council Member Victor Gordo’s motion to table the hotel project for further discussion on April 3, the controversial venture returned as the main event of last Monday’s agenda. FRIENDS OF THE SIERRA MADRE LIBRARY BEST USED BOOK SALE The Friends of the Sierra Madre Library announce that the June Best Used Book Sale will take place on Friday, June 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On our featured shelves, we have sports and military history books. Look for some interesting biographies on sports personalities and history as well as

tales of military campaigns and participants from the past. As always, we will have a large collection of “Coffee-table Books” on cooking, art, contemporary culture, science, gardening and history on the table in the basement. The shelves in the basement are full of newer fiction and nonfiction on every subject.

In addition, we’ve added a large CD collection of used and new (both classical and pop music) for only $1.00 each. Used and new DVDS and audio books are also only $1.00 each. The parking lot will include many titles of our popular Bargain Books for only $1.00 each, both fiction SEE PAGE 12

2. Move forward with a smaller Kimpton hotel. 3. Undertake a new process to determine the best use/project for the building. In the end, council unanimously approved a motion aligned with option number three: first the YWCA restoration will head to the city’s economic development

The score card results for Madison’s controversial Principal Ruelas on 19 measures were the following: • 4 grades were F.

The grading on “Ethics and Integrity,” on which Ruelas received uniform failing grades, involves the following three questions: 1. “Acts upon a personal code of ethics that requires continuous reflection and learning.” 2. “Guides and supports personal and collective actions that use relevant evidence
