rcadia City Council held a public hearing to discuss a dispute between a homeowner and the Homeowners' Association Architectural Review Board (ARB) Tuesday evening. Council gathered to review the appeal of the Planning Commission's approval to overturn the Santa Anita Oaks Homeowners' Association Architectural Review Board Chairperson's denial of a new circular driveway at 1231 San Carlos Road. The circular driveway was requested on behalf of the property owner, Tom Crosby, “to minimize safety issues since the property is located so close to the T intersection” according to Lisa Flores, Community Development Administrator. But Vince Vargas, member of the Santa Anita Oaks’ ARB, addressed the safety concern, which entails having to make a three point turn in order to leave the property, and said that it was “thoroughly dismissed

Early Morning Arcadia House Fire Quickly Contained On Thursday, October 12, 2017, at approximately 12:20 a.m., the Arcadia Fire Department, with assistance from Monrovia Fire Department, responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of Laurel Avenue in the City of Arcadia. Nineteen (19) firefighters responded to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters witnessed smoke and fire visible from the front

of the structure. Firefighters took immediate action to search for occupants, attack the seat of the fire and ventilate the structure. Firefighters declared the fire knocked down at 12:36 a.m. and confined the fire to room of origin, with no extension to adjacent residences. The fire was determined to be SEE FIRE PAGE 13
