s thousands of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival campers departed from the desert last Monday, the venue prepared to host Stagecoach, the country music festival that was headlined by Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton this past weekend. Streetssurrounding the festival site and Interstate 10 saw major traffic from the more than 40,000 festival attendees who are leaving the area Monday. “Approximately 40,000 guests will be shuttled into and out of the concert venue from various locations throughout the Coachella Valley to help ease traffic conditions,” Indio city officials said in a statement. The weekend of performances at the country music festival began shortly after noon Friday with performances from Mackenzie Carpenter, Bella White, DJ Rick and Destinie Lynn across the venue’s four stages — Mane Stage, Palomino Stage, Diplo’s Honkytonk Stage and Horseshoe Stage.
Luke Bryan took over the Mane Stage Friday night following performances from Jon Pardi, Riley Green, Elle King, Breland, Priscilla Block, Nate Smith, Jackson Dean, Seaforth, Drake Milligan and Tiera Kennedy. Kane Brown took the stage Saturday following performances from Old Dominion, Gabby Barrett, Niko Moon, Morgan Wade and others. The festival closed out Sunday with Chris Stapleton, following Brooks and Dunn, Parker McCollum, Lainey Wilson, Parmalee, Bailey Zimmerman and others. Live performances will also be held at the venue’s Bud Light Backyard, featuring music from Nate Smith, Seaforth, Tiera Kennedy, Cooper Alan, Lily Rose, Corey Kent, Madeline Edwards, Tyler Braden and Parmalee. The festival also featured three Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse Cooking Demos each day, with Adam Perry Lang and Pat Martin, John Pardi and ZZ Top on Friday. More cooking demos were conducted by Chris Conger

Riverside libraries feature Native American-themed murals By staff

local artist’s “Grandmothers” murals are currently featured at Riverside libraries, the city announced Monday. The series of murals was created by Riverside-based artist Denise Silva, who said her works represent the indigenous peoples of the area: Tongva, people of the Earth; Luiseño, people of the West; Cahuilla, people of the desert; and
Serrano, people of the pines. The murals are “totems — spiritual guardians — for those who respect the divine feminine and ultimately, Mother Earth, who is our oldest ancestor,” Silva said in a statement. The largest grandmother mural is a 40-foot piece on the west-facing wall of the Main Library, located at 3900 Mission Inn Ave.

so we and the Library Department were happy to support this mural.” Silva was born in East Los Angeles and raised in Riverside. She studied design and illustration at California State University, Los Angeles, and works from her home studio in Riverside. “The grandmothers will serve as a reminder for all to see whose land they are
standing on, to step with mindfulness, to step with care,” Silva said. “Standing under each grandmother, pause to take a breath, give thanks and reset your nervous system.
