VOTERS CHOOSE TOM BECK OVER CHALLENGER BOB HARBICHT FOR COUNCIL SEAT

he preliminary numbers are in for 2018’s election of Arcadia’s City
Council. In District 2, incumbent candidate Tom Beck is leading against former councilman Bob Harbicht. At 8:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Beck held 982 votes while Harbicht stands at 875,
a difference of 107. Over in District 5, incumbent candidate Roger Chandler is barely ahead of first-time candidate and former school teacher Joyce Platt. In third place at last check was first-time candidate and self-funded pharmacist Jolly Wu. At 8:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Chandler had 704 votes, Platt held 659 votes and Wu had 264 votes. ARCADIA COPS NAB SOME APRIL FOOLS Arcadia Verizon Wireless Store Robbed at Gunpoint Bust nets stolen mail, drugs and bait package Arcadia’s finest responded to yet another package theft via GPS tracking, on April Fools day. At about 8:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of East Camino Real Avenue regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS
tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed decoy packages containing bait property and tracking devices to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed SEE APRIL FOOLS PAGE 10
The Arcadia Police Department received a 9-1-1 call on Tuesday April 10, at approximately 10 a.m., of a robbery that had just taken place. It occurred at Verizon Wireless, which is located in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. A male suspect entered the store and pointed a
handgun at an employee. The suspect demanded cellular phones. An undisclosed number of cellular phones were then placed in the suspect’s backpack. The suspect was seen driving his motorcycle eastbound on Duarte Road. No victims SEE ROBBED PAGE 11
