Pomona Rookie Police Officer Killed By Gunfire Friday Father of Two Killed When Barricaded Suspect Shot Through the door at Arriving Officers

os Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives continue to assist Pomona Police Department with an officer-involved shooting, which killed one officer, left a second officer injured and a suspect barricaded. The incident occurred in the 1400 Block of South Palomares Street, Pomona, on Friday, March 9, 2018, at approximately 9:04 P.M. A man has now been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the of killing a police officer and wounding of another officer in Pomona, California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. Isaias De Jesus Valencia, 39, was also charged with attempted murder of other peace officers, the agency said in a statement. Police Chief Michael Olivieri identified the officer who was killed as Greggory Casillas, 30, a rookie still in field training. "Gregg is a hero, a man to be looked up to," Olivieri said. "He left his family at home to protect yours and his ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten." Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Friday issued the following statement regarding the death of Pomona Police Department Officer Gregory Casillas: “Anne and I are saddened by the tragic death of Officer Casillas early this morning. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. His brave sacrifice will never be forgotten.” Officer Casillas, 30, died Saturday morning after he was shot by a suspect who had barricaded himself in an apartment complex following a pursuit and collision late Friday night. A second officer was also injured in the shooting and is receiving treatment in hospital. On Friday, March 9, 2018, about 7:27 p.m., a deputy assigned to the Norco Sheriff’s Office conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle, in the 1200 block of Hamner Avenue, in the City of Norco. A records check of the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen. The vehicle driver

A 35-year-old man who suffered a cardiac episode during a violent confrontation with Anaheim police earlier this month has died, his famly announced Monday according to KTLA-TV. Christopher Eisinger was taken off life support Saturday after he was declared brain dead, his family said in a statement. The incident occurred just after midnight March 2 when police responded to a man in a woman’s backyard. Responding officers found Eisinger, who ran away and but tripped and fell as police
tried to take him into custody. During a news conference last week, police said Eisinger kicked officers and tried to pull away while authorities tried to restrain him. He then appeared to be “suffering medical distress” and went into cardiac arrest, officials said. He was taken to a hospital but Eisinger’s brain later swelled and he was put on a ventilator. Eisinger apparently also had facial injuries, but Anaheim Police Chief Julian Harvey said he was confident his officers did not use excessive force during the take down.
