A Noise Within L.A.’s Critically Acclaimed Classical Repertory Theatre Company 2018 Summer with Shakespeare a camp for young artists ages 6-18, June 11 - July 13 A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents Summer With Shakespeare— several three to five-week Pasadena summer camps, June 11th to July 13th, 2018 (Monday-Friday 10am - 4pm) for youth aged 6-18. At Summer with Shakespeare, participants of all ages gain an appreciation for the Bard’s verse and exposure to a variety of classic plays. This intensive camp challenges them to be both scholars and performers of Shakespeare as it enhances their acting and public speaking skills and builds self-confidence on the stage, while also offering invaluable experience in theatre craft. Classically trained professional actors, choreographers, and designers lead all of the camp’s sessions. These camps are funfilled weeks of learning and performing. At Summer with Shakespeare, kids stay active and learn new skills
when they attend this annual conservatory-style program of acting, improvisation, diction, text analysis, kinetic exercises, stage combat, mask work, voice, movement, and stagecraft and design. The camp session culminates with each of the three age-based divisions performing for an audience on the Theatre’s main stage. The young actors will perform their plays on Thursday, July 12, and Friday, July 13. Education and Community Outreach Director Alicia Green, who holds a master’s degree in educational theater from NYU’s Steinhardt School, administers ANW’s summer programs. She advises, “Our camp is unique in that each of the three levels imparts social interaction and skill sets that have been designed to be entirely age appropriate. Equally important, our campers have the unique experience of working with established professionals in the theatrical arts.”

Kids select one of three tracks by age group – The Play’s The Thing (for 14-18 year olds), The King’s Players (10-13 year olds), or All the World’s A Stage (6-9 year
olds). The latter two tracks (for 10-13 year olds and 6-9 year olds) can be purchased week by week, rather than as a whole. The Play’s The Thing track
is offered as Time to Train – a 3-week camp (June 1-29) that focuses on studying various acting techniques, or as a 5-week camp, Double Double Toil and Trouble, (June 11– July 13), which culminates in a performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Similarly, the five-week The King’s Players track culminates in a performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Summer with Shakespeare takes place Monday, June 11th – Friday, July 13th 2018, Monday – Friday from 10am to 4pm (no camp on Wednesday, July 4th, Independence Day).
