Pasadena Police Lieutenant Arrested By Feds A lieutenant in the Pasadena Police Department was taken into custody last Friday on federal charges related to the illegal sale of approximately 100 firearms. Vasken Kenneth Gourdikian, 48, of Sierra Madre, who is currently on administrative leave, selfsurrendered this morning to federal authorities. Gourdikian was named by a federal grand jury yesterday in a four-count

indictment that accuses him of engaging in the business of dealing in firearms without a license, making false statements on ATF Forms, and possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle. The federal indictment charges that, from March 2014 through February 2017, Gourdikian sold over 100 firearms without a license.

Sierra Madre's Library Board of Trustees has hired a Consultant, and his name is Joseph R. Matthews I know that what follows isn't information you found on the Library survey postcard that went out last month, so I'll bring it up here. Apparently the Library Board of Trustees hired a noted consultant by the name of Joseph R. Matthews.

Joe is a sought after expert on Libraries, and he has some interesting theories on how they should function, both now and into the future. I am not certain in what capacity he was hired, or how much SEE TATTLER PAGE 13

n what can only be described as sheer public disgust, anger and outcry at two police officers’ actions in the beating of Chris Ballew last year, Pasadena PD Chief Sanchez has pulled the two rogue cops off the beat. Officers Larry Esparza and Zachary Lujan, two police officers who were involved in the Chris Ballew beating

that garnered national attention, subsequently received less than a slap on the wrist when Sanchez concluded they acted within policy guidelines. Pasadena PIO Lisa Derderian confirmed Wednesday that the officers were “reassigned from SES but not sure to where yet…” The two cops have now been taken off the streets. Public pressure finally sealed the officers’ fate, at least for now. SEE ROGUE COPS PAGE 13
