Tzu Chi Foundation In Monrovia And San Dimas To Provide Hurricane Harvey Emergency Disaster Aid In Texas With over 93,000 people impacted by Hurricane Harvey currently without power and over 30,000 in shelters, local Tzu Chi USA chapters in Dallas and Houston are evaluating how they can best provide immediate disaster aid, in addition to delivering 3,000 blankets to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas and providing blankets and hot meals to evacuees at the Smithville Recreation Center in Austin. Tzu Chi now plans to distribute 10,000 lbs. of instant rice, 11,000 blankets, 200 multi-purpose portable beds, and 5,000 first aid kits to those impacted in Houston area. Additional financial aid may be provided upon review to purchase immediate needs. Tzu Chi will also offer emotional support to evacuees in Red Cross and state-designated shelters, while their volunteer doctors will provide consultations. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Disabled Parking Placard Abusers Caught at LA County Fair Arrested for Raping Jail Inmates Enforcement operation results in 71 citations
10- Year- Veteran of Dept. On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, allegations of criminal sexual misconduct in one of LASD jail facilities were made against a Department member. As a result of these serious charges, a deputy was arrested. The deputy was identified as Giancarlo Scotti, a 31-year-old, ten-year veteran of the Department.
He was charged with two counts of Rape Under the Color of Authority and two counts of Oral Copulation Under the Color of Authority, which also violated the Prison Rape Elimination Act. Scotti was transported to Norwalk Sheriff’s Station, where he was booked and released after posting his $100,000 bail. He was reassigned to his residence and
placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of a criminal investigation. Investigation into the circumstances began around 9:00 A.M., when a female inmate housed at the Century Regional Detention Facility reported the crime to an instructor who works SEE PAGE 3
Investigators with the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issued citations to 71 people fraudulently using Disabled Person Parking Placards at the Los Angeles County Fair on September 10. The enforcement operation at 1101 West McKinley Avenue in Pomona was made possible with the assistance
and support from the Pomona Police Department and Fairplex administration. During the crackdown, DMV investigators verified the proper use of more than 300 disabled parking placards. “We want to make sure drivers who are parking in blue disabled parking spots are doing
