San Gabriel Unified Implements 1:1 Technology Initiative for All Students San Gabriel Unified School District will complete its initiative to offer a 1:1 student-to-device ratio for all grade levels at the start of the 2017-18 school year. The plan to provide classroom devices to every student is detailed in the District’s recently approved 2017-20 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), an element of the state’s school funding system that guides District efforts to improve student achievement by setting annual priorities and strategies to achieve those goals. “When we integrate technology into the classroom, we empower our students to maximize their potential and prepare for the future,” SGUSD Superintendent Dr. John Pappalardo said. “We are thrilled to place technology in the hands of every student and cultivate an engaging, collaborative learning environment that promotes innovative thinking and lifelong educational excellence.” The initiative aims to provide all San Gabriel Unified students with equal access to curriculum resources, research opportunities, project-based learning and standardized

Riverside Urges Vigilance After Deadly Citrus Disease Found on Local Tree The City of Riverside is urging all owners of citrus trees in the area to remain vigilant and inspect their citrus trees for signs of citrus greening, also known as huanglongbing, or HLB, after the disease was found on a tree in northeast Riverside. State and federal officials removed the infected tree from the property near
the intersection of Chicago and Marlborough avenues because the disease, which inevitably kills infected citrus trees, can be transmitted from tree to tree by the Asian citrus psyllid. City of Long Beach Donates Recycled Bicycles to Local At-Risk Youth The City of Long Beach, in partnership with Waste Management, Inc. and Pedal Movement, donated 27 refurbished bicycles to two local non-profit groups, Long Beach Blast and Partners of Parks, in an attempt to improve mobility, encourage healthy recreation, and promote reuse and recycling. The nonprofits will further

San Bernardino District Attorney Ramos Releases 2nd Quarter Gang Stats The latest gang statistics for the second quarter of 2017 have been compiled by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. Statistics for the quarter of April 1, 2017, through June 31, 2017, show that 149 cases were filed from all divisions. There were 170 state prison commit-
