T
uesday night marked the end of former Mayor Tom Beck’s one-year term. In the midst of ceremony and speeches, the City Council elected a new mayor. Outgoing Mayor Tom Beck nominated experienced Arcadian Peter Amundson to take up the job as mayor, also nominating fellow first-term council member, Sho Tay, for Mayor Pro Tempore. Both were elected easily. This is the second time the experienced council member was granted the job, serving from 2010 to 2011. Beck was thanked by various state, federal, and county officials, as well as community organizations. Most notable of which was a crop, presented to him from SEE PAGE 10

Arcadia USD Board of Education Election Results Four candidates vied for the two seats. Early results on Tuesday looked favorable for Eng. With 34 percent of the vote, he was in the lead with all 14 precincts reporting. Leigh Chavez was in second place with 30 percent of the vote Results as of 4/18/2017 9:30:20 PM. West Covina Carjacker Arrested in Arcadia; Stolen Car, Handgun Recovered
On April 16, Temple Station Deputies responded to the 6700 block Temple City Blvd, in unincorporated Arcadia regarding a reported carjacking. An elderly woman told deputies she was sitting in her vehicle when she
was approached by a man who pointed a handgun at her, demanding she exit the vehicle and surrender her car keys. The woman feared for her safety and complied with the request. The vehicle, a 2017 Honda, was

equipped with a GPS tracking device. Deputies quickly activated the tracker utilizing the victim’s cell phone app and learned the location of the vehicle. The deputies
